You don't want mining in your state, but you want those lesser, ethnic people to get dirty so you can have your clothes and cell phones and cars. Just say it: "I want them there minorities in other places to do that dirty mining!" That's what you wanted to say on this Progressive CZcams channel?

      @@GeoScorpion owners of corporations don’t care about the environment at all so their objective is opposite. REP AOC wants humans to live as the first priority, with clean air, water, and soil as a a basis for that; corporations want profit so have bought the votes to make it legal to pollute and destroy the planet for their greedy short term profit and so put their greed for useless money over human lives. Their purposes are diametrically opposed; so not possible. Corporations, in seeking profit , use their mass media to misinform the public, so they can legally send toxic waste into cities in train cars without working brakes and fill our stores, even grocery stores, with cancer causing products for sale, and burn the planet more for their short term profit. Look out the window. Are you in drought, flooding, or fire? How much further will the planet have to be destroyed before you see what’s happening and we all stop them ?

    So weird when people make enough money to live on being in politics, but they just can't resist being corrupt and joining up with companies to manipulate laws to make more. I mean in a perfect world, it would be ok, and noone would be hurt by this, but since their focus is primarily profit, things fall apart because there's no consideration of the impact on people's lives or the general direction and effect of the action.

    Here are some questions that I have for AOC and progressives:
    (1) Is it possible to mine, refine, process, or manufacture ANYTHING to your satisfaction? Is there ANY way to do ANYTHING that you would be ok with?
    (2) Is it possible to engineer a change in the way that we mine, refine, process, or manufacture things that would be acceptable to you, or are you ideologically against all of those activities? Do you have suggestions on how to do an oil pipeline, or do you want to SUDDENLY turn the world Green with an idea that your village in NYC is still going to have food at your Whole Foods and your kids know where food comes from? (hint: It's NOT a grocery store)
    (3) Are you against AMERICA doing mining, refining, processing, or manufacturing, or do you want EVERYONE to immediately stop doing those things all over the world? Today! Right Now! In your dream world, would you like us to just STOP?!?
    (4) I'm a Democrat. I believe Climate change is an immediate issue that is going to wipe out several countries THIS year. I also believe that YOU populists won and globalization is over, and NOW you get to solve the question of why everything is suddenly expensive? As a Democrat, I'm asking how YOU want to magically make things happen.
    (5) Are you willing to divest yourself of ALL products that are not based on mining, refining, processing, or manufacturing? You would be literally nude, but WORSE, you would be without a cell phone and batteries. You wouldn't even be able to show that you ARE lower than MTG because your damn cell phone needs rare earth minerals that are... *cough cough* MINED, REFINED, PROCESSED, MANUFACTURED!

    • @TheVexar
      @TheVexar Před rokem +1

      (1) This is a question for scientists in these fields and we are supposed to be a democracy, which means if the public agrees that the benefits outweigh the costs then that's up to the public (not corporations, lobbyists and corrupt politicians). Personally I think the energy sector ought to be nationalized as a public good, so that profit motive doesn't screw people out of healthy environments. It's pretty clear that the UK's energy privatization was a huge blunder for the welfare of the citizens while only really benefitting corporations. When things are nationalized, it is easier to hold people accountable and seek damages on behalf of the public (very important for such basic needs as running water, electricity, transportation, and so on).
      (2) We have plenty of oil reserves to last a while as we invest in alternative energy sources and reduce consumption overall. This goes for other consumption beyond just fossil fuels.
      (3) Speaking for myself, I don't think we need to put a blanket ban on mining, etc. throughout the U.S., but again it should be up to the citizens if they want to take on the consequences on behalf of corporate profits, not the corporations making those decisions and saying they're ok with sacrificing health and well-being of citizens for private profits.
      (4) I think you're using weird language, what does it mean to "wipe out several countries"? Also you seem to have some grammatical errors making it hard to understand the 2nd sentence. But from what I do understand of this question, I think we need to drastically reduce consumption regardless of our manufacturing, mining, etc. Capitalism can only survive in this global market if we constantly consume more and more for the sake of consumption (i.e. planned obsolescence), and this behavior is counter to our health and well-being as a species and as a society.
      (5) We don't necessarily need to reduce consumption to zero and at this point it's unrealistic to think that's even possible or viable. You're wrong that we'd be "literally nude", people still know how to grow crops without machinery, harvest materials for clothing and are able to process it into tools for knitting, sewing, etc. But again, we don't need to drop consumption to zero, just apportion our consumption to the level of environmental health and public health that we see fit as a society (through democratic means and safeguards for those that are vulnerable). It seems you're coming from a state of emotion and it's clouding your judgement. I'd recommend taking some time offline and just connecting with real people in your community.
