- 2019 has now begun and the steam setting for this year looks to be both superb and also with great sadness as we say farewell to the favourites of 70013 ‘Oliver Cromwell’ and 60009 ‘Union of South Africa’, so here’s a look back into 2018 of TH Railway Videos, not the best year of filming with very little to see and the summer steam ban, however for the majority of shots taken during the year they’re all included in this years edition of Best of British Steam Trains, as steam still lives on in the 50th year after their withdrawals back in 1968!
From mainline to heritage this 45 min video captures steam in all its glory in 64 shots taken during 2018, locos include in order;
5619
35028
34081
78018
70013
48264/48476 (+73156 on a double header)
6233
8572
68067
60163
60103
60009
Personal highlights of the year have been capturing the 90mph tour (before its doom to failure), withnessing recreations of 1T57 and 1L50 and of course capturing the sight and sound of the glourious 60009 in her likely last full working year
From myself I’d like to thank all my supporters and close friends for their kind company and stronggoing for me and the channel in 2018, here’s to 2019! ~ Tom - Komedie
Brilliant absolutely brilliant thanks
fantastic collection. still sad memories of that day on the Ebor Flyer..
here's to 2019 upon Tornado's return.
Nice one Tom it was a great year for our steam locos
Bridge of Thomas and friends
Hey there . Don't be so sad . Sure engines are withdrawn to be rebuilt and return . It's just a safety thing. Can you imagine if a boiler blew? There would be a complete ban ASAP. Rejoice that we have so many wonderful steam locos in service!
I thank you for this video.
Happy new year Tom 😉and an excellent video of highlighting the steam action during last year 👍
british trains are cool and awsome
I may not be british but I love those A4's a lot. The A4 that I want to see run again is the Dominion of Canada. Maybe even Mallard.
We had Dominion over at York for the 'Grat Gathering' a few years ago , where the surviving 5 A4's were together for probably the last time. The state of the Dominion of Canada was a huge shock to British Stan fans. An old steam driver was in tears when he saw it.It was in an absolutely disgraceful condition & many wanted to buy it and keep it over here. It was cosmetically restored by the National Railway Museum at York.
Great Video but would have liked the locations
0:35 look like Thomas🤣🥰🥰🥰

I am anxiously waiting for this train
0:30 T..Thomas is that you?!!
