Yep. Towards the end of the '94 season he was seriously contemplating retirement unless his back healed. He was playing through so much pain that year. I think Bird retiring for the same reason in '92 and Jordan retiring the year prior helped fuel those thoughts for Chuck.

Back injury is not an easy thing to play through, especially if its a disc. Incredibly painful and you can damage it far worse and even forever if not taken care of properly.
