@@LKeet6 I mean yes and no. No because it wasn't there before and teams won without it. Your team either has chemistry and wants to win every night or doesn't and finds a way to lose every night. Bottom line, it comes down to straight up playmaking. Some teams are gonna have it and some teams aren't. Plain and simple and that has never changed. And id say yes because you possibly see what you have potentially to build on and find out whether there is enough playmaking ability to win with what you have but its on paper. Doesn't mean much. If it does, then the heat should have beat the Mavs, heat beat the Lakers, bulls lose to the jazz, stuff like that but intangibles can't be accounted for and are random.

I laughed and agreed with almost everything Chuck said apart from the "they threw Russ under the bus" take. As much as the Lakers wanted to make sense of their lackluster, abysmal season, Russ could've done a better job with his plays especially if he was paid 47M to play. That was the season to prove everyone wrong for thinking he was done for. Sadly, the only point he made was that he really was a shell of his former self.

No no, the thing is, they threw him under the bus after THEY signed him! The whole point is that the organization didn’t take blame
for signing him, he was a bad fit from before he even hit the court, even a casual fan knew it. The point is the organization should have never signed him, especially for that money, it’s their fault. Russ is gonna be Russ whether that’s good or bad and they messed up by signing him in the first place.

I agree that analytics doesn't work in the NBA. In the NBA, the only thing that matters is accumulating all-star talent.
Like analytics in other sports, what matters more is how the analytics are applied. I agree that metrics generally have less value in the NBA (as it pertains to starters) but they aren't useless.
