I was thinking this too. Universal Orlando in Florida has a very similar climate to Metro Manila so it can be done. The Philippines fast growing economy can support it! 😉👍🏼

The city government should pass an ordinance banning loud cars or motorbikes and using of horns should not be allowed too..so animals don't get stressed.
Wow it's really beautiful compare to how it was before .Unbelievable development and i am sooo happy that Mayor Isko Moreno and everybody envolved in this huge project i must say my respect. Again thank you so much for bringing the Manila Zoo updates from time to time. Always stay safe and looking forward for the next one.

I agree that the zoo should be made closer to their natural habitat, for the animal's mental health, and to set apart the place from the look of just any amusement park or towards a mall-like design.
Manila Zoo should build a sound proof Outer Wall to avoid stress on animals inside.

Looks like it's a nice design and there's plenty of trees to keep the visitors from the hot sun. But if you want to see what is arguably the best zoo in the world come visit the San Diego Zoo in San Diego, California.

It's obviously designed for humans, not the animals it actually has. It's not at all comparable to the likes of Singapore Zoo or its gardens.

ONCE again, too much hard surface or cement. I don't see the logic of too much up and down with hard surface. What is the idea behind the fancy cement curtain walls? A zoo is supposed to be soft surface where animals are given free rein. A zoo must be 90% soft surface for animals. What we see is LANDSCAPED Zoo. Why oh why??? Those hard surface and fancy walls need to be bulldozed. Making it look tidy and squeaky clean doesn't make a zoo world class. I need to express myself of what really a zoo should be. I see cement whose provider of the material is a lot richer. That isn't a zoo, that's landscaped garden with too much cement and animals will have to roam around freely.
Are you making your comments base on what you see here? Have you been to the actual zoo before? The space limitations where the zoo is located centered right in the city precludes having the space for expansion. If the zoo was built outside of the city, then the expanded area for the animals' enclosures can be made possible. This zoo was untouched for many years until the Mayor of Manila, Isko Moreno made it possible to be renovated.

Animals taken away from their natural environmental habitat, to get put into a confined space a fraction of the size.
With no space to run, and people staring and pointing at them through the glass/cage.
You have a point. I love the zoo, it's just that it should be like the old one which simulates better the natural habitat for the mental health of the animals as well. As a Filipino, I want us to be proud of our own, not wanting to copy so much those of abroad.
The new design looks more like that of any ordinary amusement park or mall. Sort of frustrating that they replaced the rails with glass and metal ones. And when the zoo gets a little older, it won't look good anymore, unlike the original design.

We need to stop being selfish and putting ourselves above every other species in the world, we must learn how to respect them and leave them alone. Ang laki ng gastos pero hindi masyado pinagiisipan. Dapat yong mga statue at frame lights hindi aminals na makikita sa zoo kundi yong hindi available doon tulad ng jurrassic at iba pa.
