One thing i never noticed about this game as a kid but did during this watch through. Noticably on this world Sora has no shadow after Riku makes the shadow Sora, but gets it back after you beat shadow Sora. A fun little thing that doesn't seem super necessary but it's really cool.

I'd like to contribute to the discourse that Hook is either a bumbling goon _or_ is terrifyingly competent, and there's no in-between.
    • In _I,_ he's an idiot, one of the few villains to not get a phase II fight or reappear later in the timeline.
    • In _BBS,_ he's a first-class manipulator (although, to be fair, Terra is the party himbo), and is skilled with his cutlass.
    • In _Chain of Memories_ (both versions), he is a real _nasty piece-of-work,_ and would conventionally be a Red Mage - able to fight in close-quarters before leaping out of the way and absolutely *devastating* the arena with explosions. He is one of the earlier bosses that serves as the wall of "No, really, things work different here. This is a card game with numbers. Break my hand or I will break your neck."

That's something I always wondered that was never addressed: if you went back to Tarzan land and asked Jane where she was from, she'd say England. And then you travel to Neverland and ask Wendy where she was from, she'd say England. Does that mean there are two or more entirely separate Englands? Or were they converged before they ended up on their respective planets?

@@stillrememberstartropics4290 At the very least, they're probably separated by time, which more or less makes them different worlds, though KH is weird with how time works for the worlds, since it only cares about the movie plots.
The Englands from Pirates of the Carribean, 101 Dalmations, Tarzan, and Peter Pan are more or less just as different as your Frances from Beauty and the Beast, Aristocats, and Hunchback of Notre Dame.

It wasn't until like the fifth let's play I watched of this that I realised Sora's shadow is completely gone in this world and ONLY reappears after beating his Shadow. Which is amazingly subtle for this game to do and I'm shocked they never point it out and it's very cutely in vogue with Neverland.
It also makes this much less distracting because lore-wise this was a super-confusing boss to me, and I thought it meant a lot more than it actually did!

16:30 I know exactly what part you mean and honestly, What Makes the Red Man Red is so incredibly offensive in its stereotyping, without realizing it AT ALL, that I can't help but laugh at the sheer absurdity of it all. This isn't a Speedy Gonzales situation where it turns out no, Mexicans actually love the character. This pissed off American Indians even at the time and the only reason Disney didn't know was because they didn't bother to ask a single one first. There's a point, and admittedly it rarely happens, where racism is so over the top that it almost feels like a parody of racism, and the cherry on top was that it was seemingly completely unintentional.
Contrast that with Savages in Pocahontas which is probably the 2nd best song in the movie (because nothing tops Mine, Mine, Mine) which even though it dehumanizes people, but that's the entire point because both sides are singing it. Both sides have given in to their hatred and just see the other side as just a faceless Other to destroy.

I said it elsewhere in the comments but that scene is so hilariously over the top in its racism (racism that was somehow unintentional DESPITE doubling down on the stereotypes already present in the original play, mind you) that I can't help but laugh. To reach that level of wrong, and not do it on purpose, is almost a work of art. It's the Tommy Wiseau of racism, you can't replicate it on purpose without just being overt and open with what you're trying to say like the old anti-Japanese WW2 cartoons. It wasn't an "it was a different time" thing, or even a Speedy Gonzales situation where it turns out Mexicans love the characters and it's white people that cringe. No this pissed off American Indians even back then and they never thought to ask a single one if it was offensive.
As I said elsewhere, contrast that with Savages in Pocahontas which is probably the 2nd best song in the movie (because nothing tops Mine, Mine, Mine) which even though it dehumanizes people, that's the entire point because both sides are singing it. Both sides have given in to their hatred and just see the other side as just a faceless Other to destroy. That's racism with a purpose, to try and make a salient point. This was super racist without even attempting it, and I find a morbid hilarity in that.
