    Fun fact: the reason Oathkeeper/Oblivion get positioned as his/her's keyblades is because (according to an interview from one of the Omnibus books, IIRC) they represent Sora's connection with Kairi and Riku, respectively.
    Also, Mushu originally wasn't the last Summon. There's a disabled menu option for a Bahamut summon, though re-enabling it just crashes the game if you try to select it.

    I actually forgot that Hollow Bastion was meant to the be the "Final Fantasy" world. Honestly, I wish each world was a mix of one "Disney" world and one "Final Fantasy" world. I said it before, but for a crossover game, I feel like there's not a lot crossing over. I remember a lot of complaints about the more recent games was the hard Disney focus, but with this LP, I guess I realized that it was always like this.

    • @ozymandiousrex7155
      @ozymandiousrex7155 Před rokem +6

      Absolutely. As a teen this game was sold to me as a mix of Final Fantasy and Disney and I was all ready for that and got cheated by a FF cherry on top of a big ol Disney sundae.

    • @emiliobustamante2401
      @emiliobustamante2401 Před rokem +3

      TBH for what Ive seen this really doesnt feel like a proper crossover of Final Fantasy and Disney. Like Aerith/Yuffi/Leon on this are tertiary characters *at best*, and they are the ones that actually do anything, and as you said you dont even visit any FF world apart from Hallow Bastion, which we are only told it is after the fact. Ill admit I really dont know a lo of FF to really judge things fairly but it feels to me its more of a vibes things than anything else. Are all the games like this? From what I heard its mostly Disney characters and OCs that get the spotlight

    • @sagewaterdragon
      @sagewaterdragon Před rokem +3

      @@JeedyJay It's just how people talk about it. It's why, as the series went on, Final Fantasy mattered less and less - the point was always "Square Enix characters in Disney worlds" and as KH went on their own cast was big enough to carry that weight.

      @Tamacat388 Před rokem +3

      @@emiliobustamante2401 In the last two mainline games Dream Drop Distance and KH3 there are literally no FF characters other than the silent moogle shops. KH2 has a lot more Final Fantasy (which as an adult feels like a decision to shill Advent Children more than anything) in it but again its only in Hollow Bastion and Hercules. I dont think 358/2 Days had much FF in it either.

    to be fair to the "his/her" status of oblivion and oathkeper that's kinda because they represent Riku and Kairi respectively.

      They do some wishy-washy handwaving about it in KH2. Something like the old Gummi Ship paths are all locked now so you have to unlock new ones. But it's like 1 or 2 lines and absolutely does not explain even half the questions you might have about the repercussions of this event

    The original jp kingdom hearts had a bunch of places where it struggled to load (particularly in the gummi stages) and i assume loading in the 3d portraits over the world map was one of those and there may be some pre-coded delay that accounted for that.

  • @metalsonic8888
    @metalsonic8888 Před rokem +1

    The general idea of the Behemoth as a huge monster you have to climb onto in order to even do damage does get a redo in KH2 as an optional boss. Whether that boss is better or worse than this one is up for debate, but it is certainly is much more imposing and spectacular (in the literal sense that it is a spectacle to see)

    Interestingly, at 16:37, Grant asks why Aurora's dress is blue when it should be pink. From my understanding Aurora is typically portrayed in a purple dress since the release of her movie as a sort of compromise between the pink vs blue dress fight the fairies had over her dress color.

    After watching 22 episodes of this, and at least two other people play through the game... i just can't understand why adults like this game. The gameplay looks terrible, the controls look terrible, the story is awful and childish, the characters are ugly and bland, the voice acting is quite poor, the message is simplistic and childish again. It's bad to me the same way every Sonic game ever made is comprehensively, irredeemably bad. There is not one single thing in this game, and the rest of the series, that is even the slightest bit appealing to me.
    Maybe it's because I never played it when I was younger? I mean, I loved Disney movies when I was a kid. I was the perfect age to enjoy the golden era of Disney before the modern stuff came about. I killed my Fantasia tape because I watched it so much.
    I truly don't get it. So why am I watching it? I've got fuck all else to do. Why not.
