Try all of these songs. Kirstie slays them all! "Be My Eyes" "Shallow" " Say Something"
She's a Broadway actress (Kinky Boots) and she displays that talent in every single song. She's wonderful.
Also Rather Be is a great one!
Or Favorite Things
Wizard of Ahhs another good one where she does most of the lead vocals.
She does a great job in the PBS version of "Seasons of Love", too!
Kirstie kills it on Say Something.
she, kirstie, sings lead in water, be my eyes, say something. that was their 'wall of sound' that you liked.
Also, there’s The Wizard of Ahhs where Kirstin takes the lead and is one of the more fun videos PTX has done in a collaboration with Todrick Hall.
Matt!!! What a voice he has. Loving him here.
Shallow, say something, and favorite things (although that’s on one of their Christmas albums) are my favorite Kirstie leads! And amazing grace showcases her voice really well too!
I'm going to add Rather Be
All great choices! I would add Seasons of Love and Amazing Grace.
Shallow was simply perfect!
Kirsty shines on both Hallelujah and Amazing Grace.
Season of love is one that will show you just how high kirstin can go she also amazing in
Favourite things
Say something
Shallow
Be my eyes is my favourite of kirstins solos she wrote the song as well
Be my eyes is a great showing of Kirsten's voice and she wrote the song too.
She’s amazing in Say Something, Shallow & Rather Be.
Them being so big and full for only 5 people has always been one of their great strengths. They got that compliment on the sing off show a lot, and even one of the founders of home free has mentioned how Pentatonix are just experts at creating that full sound. Magical!
My favorite Kirstie solos are Amazing Grace and Say Something. She kicks all the boys butts in Amazing Grace. Love your enthusiasm dude!
Yes, Kirstie and Mitch just slay in "Amazing Grace", and also in "Can You Feel the Love Tonight".
She's awesome in little drummer boy too. Although the beat boxing by Kevin sounding like a little drummer boy steels the show on that one. Amazing grace she makes me cry every time and I'm an Atheist.
Also Seasons of Love
Say something is a Kirstie prominent song, although it’s an older one and I feel her voice has evolved over the years. Amazing Grace is a great one to hear all of them sing, as they each have a solo in it. Kirsties solo in that is incredible!
One of my fave things about this one is that it showcases mitch's lower register, which is as beautiful as the high range he's more known for.
Chills... They can layer like no other
Truly!
Also, Kirstie has the lead in Wizard of Aaahs. Amazing‼️
Loved your reaction, and yay for breaking the code to get it posted! Kirstie will break your heart in Say Something. Can You Feel the Love Tonight from the Lion King is another good anthem song from them, and my favorite of their more recent originals is Anchor. Peace from Ohio …
The Matt and Mitch harmonies are great too.
Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Come Along, My Favorite Things, I Just Called To Say I Love You, and Seasons Of Love (PBS televised version) are more songs with good Kirstie parts.
Oh I love Making Christmas for the Matt & Mitch vibes!
Kirstin is featured prominently in Shallow, Say Something, and (my favorite) Rather Be.
Favorite Kirstie performance for me is “Say Something”
Great reaction! So glad you haven’t given up on PTX!!
~Pentaholic from Louisiana 🐊
Say Something, Rather Be, Shallow
Kirstie is fantastic on Be My Eyes (an original that she co-wrote).
Also has a cool intro reminiscent of Enyas Orinoco Flow
I would suggest all the one already listed, and add Love Me When I Don't.
Oh thats a fav of mine!
Don't skip their Daft Punk medley - you'll love it!
All of these people are simply gifted vocalists, For Kirstie look to "La La latch", "Rather Be" "My Favorite Things" "Can You Feel The Love Tonight", "Seasons of Love" live from this past 4th of July,, "Shallow", "Come Along" ,If you really want to watch them in recording mode watch The making of Evergreen...shows the amazing knowledge they possess. They truly split so much of their singing up. great reaction.
Kirstie in “Be My Eyes”, “Say Something”, “My Favorite Things, “Shallow”, just to name a few..
"Say something" is a Pentatonix masterpiece and Kirstin is absolutely PERFECT for the lead!
"Seasons of Love" live performance unleashes Kirstie big time... also Be My Eyes (original), Shallow, Amazing Grace, My Favourite Things, Shape of You x Despacito, It's Different Now (original), Love Me When I Don't (original)
Matt replaced Avi (Ah-vee). Kirstie is outstanding in Shallow and My Favorite Things! Enjoy!
Kirstin really takes the lead on Say Something and it is one of my favorite Pentatonix performances. She also has a major piece of Shallow.
Kirstie is phenomenal in “My Favorite Things.” Yes it’s from the Sound of Music but - shut the front door - it’s dark and twisted and I love it!
She is predominant in "The Wizard of Ahhhs" which is Pentatonix's and Todrick Halls version of "The wizard of Oz"
A very fun one to watch (especially if you’ve seen The Wizard of Oz), that also prominently features Kirstie, is “The Wizard of Ahhhs,” by Todrick Hall Ft. Pentatonix. He has a couple or more collabs with them on his channel, and they’re brilliantly done. Even if you haven’t seen The Wizard of Oz, if you’re down to watch a 6 minute musical “movie,” give this one a try.
I’m loving your reactions & thoughts on PTX - new Pentaholics are always so much fun to watch!
Kirsty really shines in Say Something, Shallow, or Favourite Things for covers or if you want an original song watch Be My Eyes (personally I think you need to watch them all but the order is totally your own call LOL)
Much Love from Canada 🇨🇦
Great reaction! An original that features Kirsten is "Water". Is a great song as well as "Be My Eyes" also an original.
So far so good on the block. I appreciate your persistine. The scrolling thing is genius, if it works. If not, reducing the size and making it more transparent and /or overlaying a graphic should help.
She is awesome in "Rather Be", she pretty much carries the entire song and of course ",Say Something "
I suggest Shallow, Seasons of Love, and Amazing Grace to hear Kirstie lead.
Of all of the Kirstie “driven” songs, the original “Water” is my absolute favorite!!!
Unfortunately, the best version (if not the only) is as the 4th song on the Pop Spring concert. The ONLY reason that I say “unfortunate” is that it is a bit long for a lot of reactors …the quality is superb (MTV) and 3 original songs plus The Evolution of MJ are well worth the time!!! You’ll not regret it!!!
You should absolutely react to the Pop Spring concert, but if you can't do it in one go, I'm pretty sure there is a video from the concert of each song individually. So you should absolutely react to Water, as it's an awesome song!
I Love that song!!!!!
I second “Say Something”. Kirstie is amazing.
Kirstie is amazing in Say Something, one of my favorites!
For more Kirstie- Say Something, Shallow, Rather Be, My Favorite Things, Come Along, Amazing Grace (with a bonus of Mitch lower in his range) This is one of the songs where there's no beatbox so Kevin adds a fifth layer of vocal perfection
I think she just kills 'NEVER BE' ...
I think you mean "Rather Be". ;)
@@tasia2174 You are correct.. Don't know what I was thinking.
Be My Eyes. Kirstie helped to write it and sings lead.
Yes this is Matt. He replaced Avi. Kirsties leads in Say Something, Amazing Grace, Shallow, Water, Be My eyes, live version of Seasons of Love,
Can you feel the love tonight. ( from the lion king).
For Kirsti, try the live performance of seasons of love that was aired on PBS. She's incredible. Also my favorite things, be my eyes and say something. Thier collaboration with Todrick Hall for The Wizard of Ahhhhhhs is epic. She plays 3 roles. Enjoy!
Just announced they are getting a Hollywood hall of fame ⭐️ yahoo
Say something, Kirsten sings so beautifully. Thank you for your reaction
Perfect and Shallow
Not sure if you know the original Tears for Fears version of this; it was oddly upbeat for such dark lyrics. This is based, as most versions these days are, on the version from the soundtrack of the movie "Donnie Darko" and I think the video is also based on something in the movie, but it's been a while since I've seen it.
Well, Pentatonix are fans of layering. They don’t just do one thing. This version was their vision of what the original song intended to evoke mixed with the sound of the Donnie Darko version. The video effect he liked was a reimagining of the translucent luminous globs that showed the person’s next path that Donnie started to see during the Halloween party. I’m sure there’s more to catch (the striking visual of Kirstie’s face zoomed in to fill the screen reminded me of Rocky Horror Picture Show, but what it’s actually intended to remind people of is something I’m familiar with, but I’ve forgotten). Their version of “Somebody That I Used to Know” is a mixture of Gotye’s version and Walk Off The Earth’s (WOTE) version, with a striking screen shake visual at the drops to shout out WOTE’s “I Knew You Were Trouble.” They also dressed up like WOTE (at least Mitch and Avi did, I’d have to look harder to catch exactly what the others dressed like), and Mitch did a great job of mimicking the motions and emotion of WOTE’s male lead singer. They are hardly ever just covering one version of a song. They study a song’s history before arranging it.
Try "Seasons of Love" and " Can you feel the Love Tonight"!
Shallow....Amazing Grace...
Say Something is a Kirstie lead song and one of my favorites!
Great Kirstin leads and solos: Rather Be, Say Something, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Amazing Grace, Shallow.
The group:
* Scott Hoying (blond, tall - 6' 3", baritone, but often covers tenor if Mitch is being alto or even soprano; soulful voice, master of riffs and runs)
* Avi Kaplan (say AHH-vee; bass, basso profundo; beautiful and heartfelt mid-range; has opera training; medium height, dark hair, bearded; left in 2017 and now has a solo career)
* Matt Sallee (nimble and ever-improving bass, great pop/R&B midrange; medium height, fashionably cropped hair, the most athletic and best dancer in the group, typically smiling; bass since late 2017)
* Kevin Olusola (say oh-LOO-sha-la; beatboxer, cellist, tenor and falsetto vocals; short hair at first, spiked fade and beard later on; 6 ft tall, lifts weights and looks like it, but is actually a sweet teddy bear)
* Kirstin Maldonado (say CURSE-tin, or called her Kirstie - rhymes with thirsty; mezzo soprano or alto; natural brunette but uses blond hair dye or wigs often; typically wear high heels or platforms to enhance her 5' 4" height; shy and retiring early on but brief Broadway appearance stoked her confidence and her voice has become remarkable)
* Mitch Grassi (tenor/countertenor, medium height, slight build (heavier in 2012-2013); multiple hair and facial hair changes often throughout their 11-year career; very into fashion, although he's eased off somewhat since the start of the pandemic and now dresses more casually when he's not on stage/before the camera)
Kirsten is lead in so many... favorite things, be my eyes, and so many I can't begin to list them. Watch her in The Wizard of Ahhhs . Many great suggestions here in the comments.
I had to chuckle when you said the lead in this one would work better with a lower voice than Mitch's - this was one where he got to show he kicks butt in his lower register, too, lol. Same thing happens in "Amazing Grace" ;-)
Let me add another vote for "Water" in their Popspring performance to showcase Kirstie - totally awesome. "Amazing Grace" has a great Kirstie section, too. My favorite after "Water" for Kirstie is "Rather Be," though - she totally kicks butt
Kirstie sings lead in front of Voctave on the "Disney Love Medley".
My favorites with Kirsty- Seasons of Love, Come Along, Say Something, Be My Eyes, Rather Be, Water (from PopSpring Concert). Thanks for reacting!
Lots of good Kirstie choices below. Say something is a personal favorite, along with Be My Eyes. She also did a Disney medley duet supported by Voctave called Disney Love Medley. It's pretty amazing...
Season of love live is my fav kirstin lead 🔥🔥
Love your reaction. It's really a great song.
My favorite voice is the one I'm listening to at the time because they sing parts that do suit them best, you are right. Yep....Matt is the new bass. Avi (AH-vee) is the old bass. Kirstie has quite a few good ones. Try their cover of "Rather Be" and "Somebody That I Used to Know" or her originals "Be My Eyes" and "Love Me When I Don't". You like those "bell tones" or arpeggios.
Kirstin also sings I'd Rather Be and Can You Feel The Love Tonight
Oh and The wizard of aaahz!!!
The wall of sound. Imagine.
They do layer the background vocals in their official videos in order to have a fuller sound. That's why it sounds like more than 5 people in the background.
The song where Kirstin impressed me the most was the live rendition of Seasons of Love linked below
czcams.com/video/qO01TIVX3SM/video.html
My favorites are Say Something and Amazing Grace. Say Something is predominately Kirstin and each one has a solo verse in Amazing Grace. (I listen to those, Mary Did You Know and The Prayer almost every day on my way to and from work lol)
Hauntingly GORGEOUS ❤️❤️❤️
Great reaction guy, they all have their song but for a Kirstie showcase I highly recommend “Can you feel the love tonight” and “Amazing Grace”. Keep em coming. PTX is awesome in every way 🎶🎶💕💕🦋
Kirstie has 17 times that she's absolutely shocked everybody.... If you just put her name in the search and it will bring up everything you want...Love..all night...are a couple and break a little
Scott and Mitch have another channel called Superfruit that has videos of their own originals as a duet.
Love your reaction to this video. Pentatonix did 2 versions of "Joy to the World" years apart. It would be interesting to do the older and newer version side by side. Two very different and excellent I interpretations.
Just wanted to say kudos for nailing both of the key pitches you chose to mimic... neither were easy (one very high with the bell tones... one very low with Matt's outro note) so you either have range for days...or an exceptional ear- either way it was impressive.... and yes... I subbed.
Thank you very much. I appreciate you
I would love to see you react to Amazing Grace. It's one of their best I think. Each of them are showcased in different verses, but Kirstie's part is spectacular. And you get to hear Mitch's lower register which is cool.
Shallow
The background visuals pay homage to the movie, Donnie Darko (a great movie, by the way). This song is the last song played in the movie.
The visual effect - "run in circles"
Hallelujah
You should definitely check out the bass gang’s version of Mad World! They are both amazing
Can you feel the love tonight is a great one
Finally they didn't block it!
Or at least they released it! Lol
It is in dispute..so it could one day just be gone :(
@@FischtankProductions that is crazy! I loved this reaction! They are so incredibly talented! I will make a list for you where Kristin has more prominent vocals.
The bass is Matt who replaced Avi (Ah-vee). Kirstie is great on "My Favorite Things, Be My Eyes (which she wrote) and Shallow!
RLS the OG subscriber!
Excellent reaction, had to subscribe 👏👏👏
MORE PENTATONIX PLEASE!
PTX
PTX
PTX
PTX
Remember, they don't do covers... they do upgrades!
Original songs: Water, Be My Eyes, Favorite Things, and covers Say Something or Shallow are all very Kirsty heavy.
If tou want to hear them all sing, you could listen to Amazing Grace
Subbed for more PTX
You can hear Kirstie singing more on Say Something and Rather Be.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
thanks for your good job
Kirstie in - "Seasons of Love" from A Capital Fourth - not to be missed, also great in "La La Latch"
"Girl Heavy Songs" .. . check out Amazing Grace and "Be My Eyes (an original)"
Since you like the song Mad World you may like to take a look at the cover done by The Bass Gang. The group is made up of 4 bass singers (Tomi P, Marwan Ayman, Peter Barber and Bobby Bass). They reside in different parts of world and do their own arrangements, recording, mixing and editing. They released their version a month ago and it features another amazing bass singer Elliott Robinson. It’s worth looking at if you enjoy bass.
"Shallow" for Kirstie.
Water and Can You Feel the Love Tonight are a couple more featuring Kirstie .
Kirstin has the lead in several songs. Try Seasons of Love.
Say Something! Kirstie shines.
If you'd like to hearmore of Kirstin, you ought to try Rather Be. She has an incredible range.
My favorite is and always will be mitch. It was his counter tenor voice that drew me in the ptx to start with. His voice is unlike anyone else's I've ever heard. The other members all say he's the best singer and I think if they all went to full power vocals his would drown everyone else's. LOL and when they got on sing off kirsty started crying saying finally the world would hear mitch voice. He def has the biggest range. That said I think Scott is the most versatile tho. Kirsty songs, "shallow", "say something" are my favorites of hers.
One of the best Tears For Fears (from 1982) songs but PTX crushes it! I think they are copying the Gary Jules version which was great as well. What I love about PTX you can hear each of them in every song. One of them maybe the lead but the rest of the group is in perfect unison with each other...Out of this World!
