This whole movie RADIATES sunday school church play. Like the staging. The acting. The choreography. The awkward scenes between songs clearly just written to get us from one song to the other with no narrative cohesion. I was in third grade when this was made and I’m having traumatic flashbacks 😂

From what I remember seeing, they actually started Kidz Bop with the focus of making family friendly music "for the kids," and the first several albums had exclusively *adults* singing the main parts with kids sometimes acting as backup or chorus, but often not starring at all. I don't remember when they made the switch to using all kids in their cast but I do remember listening to an older song and recognizing a voice actor who later was in Steven Universe... as Steven's Dad.

I’ve never heard of this movie or seen it (I was 18 in 2003) but I was laughing so hard at this review 😂 I clearly remember the commercials which I always thought were so silly! This movie was definitely shot in 24 hours and meant to be a *money grab*

Other than the bad infomercials, I can confidently say I never listened to Kidz Bop as a kid 😂 I think my loudly complaining "Why do they keep singing it wrong??!!" clued my mom into the fact I would not be a fan. Though some of these kids look bizarrely familiar.
I never did either... I could never get into the kids singing the songs. My brother never liked it either so we never listened to it in our house.
I don't go to concerts for the same reason! It's not sung the same I just can't with that crap. LOL!

My parents definitely bought this for me as a child and I watched it far too many times. Wanted to be them so bad 😂 Now the memories just come back to haunt me when I hear the original songs.

Having never even heard of this before, I still figured Stevie Sikes was a girl. There's a weird amount of fictional female pop stars named Stevie considering there's only one female soft rock musician named Stevie in real life.
