      Thanks for the message today, it really spoke to me. I was born in Aiyion, right across the gulf from nafplion, but have live in the US since 6 years old. I usually would come every other summer and spend with my family in Greece, ( i have no family in the US) but haven't been in over 10 years because of some bad circumstances here. I'm planning to come next summer. My relatives have taken many trips to nafplion but I've never been, now i have a reason to visit and try to run into you when your on one of your walks.

    if you work from home, and living in a smaller city, Greece is a relatively nice place to live. But if you have a normal job outside , with all the responsibilities, and living in Athens, then living in Greece is mostly a nightmare. Because of traffic, work load , etc.

      True. My husband is from an island and we met abroad at university. I'm German. After our studies he wanted to move that Athens, because it's easier to find a job there. But I said I'd move to the island and he could go to Athens alone 😂
      If you have a decent job the whole year round on the island life is great. If you're cleaning hotel rooms in summer and are unemployment in winter, it's very hard.

    Hi Daniel from Vancouver, Canada.
    Congratulations on the incredible life you’ve built in Greece! Your positive attitude and the way you’ve embraced your new surroundings are truly inspiring.
    Reflecting on what the Blues guitar master, Stevie Ray Vaughan once said, "The blues can make you feel better, or it can make you feel worse, but it will always make you feel something." It strikes me that your experience in Greece is like a powerful blues song. Just as the blues can evoke deep emotions and provide solace, your journey and outlook offer a sense of hope and connection.
    Given the challenging situation in Venezuela today, including the political instability and pervasive insecurity, it’s clear that your current environment in Greece, with its democratic stability, offers a significant advantage. I believe your positive approach and the peace you’ve found there are like the uplifting notes in a blues melody-providing comfort and joy amidst life’s complexities.
    Please continue to cherish these blessings and stay well. I wish you a healthy, happy, and fulfilling life in Greece.
    Best regards,
    Mike

    Depends whom you ask and their circumstances. It is enough for me. I've wanted to live there since I was 3. At age 40, I managed it, with my kids. Stayed for 3 years, C-VID ruined it, had to leave for a few years, but next year, I'm coming back - this time for good. I was already working remotely as a freelancer, but I've used these years to build a more solid background to rely on for my remote career and passion in health, nutrition, mindset, and physical training. Being there is enough for me but I would not be able to be there if I didn't solidify my life in other ways that support this goal longterm. I do not ever intend to having to leave again! Great channel, new subscriber!

I just try to be better than the day before. I work out as well, box, run and I read a lot of Greek. Do what makes you happy man. Have a good day.

    Καλησπέρα Daniel
    I do find your videos really motivating. I am greek myself born and bred Athenian. I left the country in 2018 after my army service ,since then ive been living in London. You cannot compare the 2 countries financially and obviously the organisation of it. Ive been in london for 6 years and i had things that i didnt had living in greece. But i always felt that something was missing. I cant say for sure if i was trully happy. I met my partner 3 years ago.when i came back to greece for holidays she is Northern English that lives in greece, she always says that she is more happy than evee before living in athens. Me myself i coulsnt understand how she is not taken down by the negative things greece has. I started wondering if i am just being extremely negative and as you said blaming others for my life. Long story short i am moving back to athens greece after 3 years of long distance relationship to live with my partner.
    I am not gonna lie i am afraid and scared and happy of coming back. A mix of feelings. But the fear sometimes takes over and i question myself if i made the right choice. All i know for sure is i have all the positive energy to try my best and make it work somehow.
    Blessings to you and your family Daniel.
    Να είστε καλα.

      @washcloud Před 4 dny +1

      Since it was a choice and you weren't forced into moving back, chances are you're gonna find a better balance while struggling with Athenian adversities. Maybe your partner is gonna be the catalyst for getting that balance. Or maybe living together with her all-year-round in "despicable" Athens is gonna prove fatal even for your relationship. Who knows which is gonna be. The thing is, by deciding to come back to put all this to the test, was the best thing you could do. If you manage to find a balance here, then it's all roses. If you don't, then it was not meant to be, and your last option will be for her to try moving back to the UK with you. You have to be happy as individuals of course, but if you manage to find a χρυσή τομή (brain out of order right now) because you value being together of utmost value for you, then you both have not much to fear in life.

    Greek Australian here. The truth is that by every objective measure Australia is a better country in Greece. I can tell you where you’d rather be if you were old and sick for example, but having said that Australia lacks the “magic” in the air for lack of a better word. It can’t really be described and Greeks who live in Australia find themselves longing for that intangible element. If you can earn Australian money whilst living in Greece it is about as close to heaven as one can get, but that is easier said than done.

    Κατά τη γνώμη μου αυτό το είδος ζωής είναι πολύ χαοτικό. Σας αποστραγγίζει ενέργεια, χρόνο και χρήμα. Μια πραγματικά καλή ζωή είναι να μην εξαρτάστε από τους άλλους στο βαθμό που είστε υγιείς για τα προς το ζην. Πρέπει να σταθεροποιήσετε με κάποιο τρόπο τη ζωή σας. Ειδικά αν έχετε οικογένεια και παιδιά. Αυτό δεν είναι ένα σωστό modus vivendi.

    Daniel, no need to walk on eggshells. You've more than proven your worth over there. Everyone seems depressed. Beauty is not enough. Why not get out while the gettin' is good. Move to America. You don't have to do anything to fit in. Just act like you own the place, everyone else does. You're still young and vibrant, with a lot of livin' to do. I think Greece is a nice place to visit. I cannot imagine walking down to a small stretch of the rocky beach, looking out and then coming home. You're too smart for that. I've watched most of your vids. With each passing day the ground grows colder. Change is good.

    I went from Australia to Greece..... It only took me one month to appreciate everything about Australia and get out of Greece as soon as possible! Greece felt like it was 200 years behind and you can't drink sea water. 900 euro is monthly pay. I make that in 3 days...

    • @MyGreekLifestyle
      @MyGreekLifestyle  Před 25 dny +8

      Wow, it sounds like you are doing great. And without offending you, you better be making that kind of money since Australia has a high cost of living. I will never make public how much I earn to brag, but all I will say is that I pay over €900 every month on income tax here in Greece.
      Also, Greece might be behind and we can't drink seawater, but at least we don't have the problems that a country like Australia has, for example, Australia ranks high among the top countries with the highest drug consumption in the world, along with Canada and the USA. With that being said, I love my Australian friends and I will never talk bad about other countries in order to justify the reasons why I left and why I live where I live. Peace and Love from Greece 🇬🇷

      @@MyGreekLifestyle Yes I live in AUS in Melb, and the life here is not like Greece. Like it's really overcast and you feel energless here. I just came back a week now from Greece and I feel a bit weird. Much better weather in Greece and if you go their with money from AUS most stuff are cheaper as long as you are not in the tourist areas of course. Like a gyros is 3-3.50 euros where I ate it wheres here in melb it ranges from $16-$18. Also here a pita at the greek shops as gone upto $10. it's crazy really. Also the beach bars are fantastic in Greece. Here in Melb theirs no beach bars and the beaches even in summer feel freezing and theirs all jelly fish and etc.
      Though I will admit that our healthcare here in AUS is much better, I shoudent have that issue with my future remote job in Greece as I will probably be able to also afford private healthcare and the property has already been sorted out.
