I got into fantasy back in the early 2000s with 6th edition and this was a great oppertunity to relive those memories ha
Painting the new in the old style is so cool to see. They look awesome and now I've never wanted goblins so badly.
I was really excited to get stuck into this project and the palnning and research was a lot of fun taking a trip down memory lane. I started with the gloomspite spearhead box.
A magnetized block for the movement trays is a brilliant idea! I love this Night Goblin army.

There are so many great things to pick out here! The banner, how well the contrast paints came out, the new minis in 'red era' style, the magnetised movement trays, encouraging people to look at the older editions for inspiration! Seeing a Warhammer fantasy video done in your channel's style is great. Especially 4th edition inspired night goblins, which is exactly when and where I started! Cheers!

I started this project back in March and I've loved every minute of it.
11:45 that goblin green paint is now sold under the Coat D'arms brand, GW used to use the same supplier for their paints back in the day so apparently the formulation is the same. IIRC Two Thin Coats' Goblinoid Green is almost a 1:1 match for it too 👍
Yeah I did see that. I really wanted to stay with the citadel paints as thats what I use for the channel. But I am thinking of getting some to try out

Update: Though I must confess that my favourite Night Goblin models were the ones that came in the Battle for Skull Pass box set.

nice vid , i seen a video were they painted a gobbo's skin yellow and later covered the skin with biel tan green to change the colour...works really well

Another great video, thank you. I always had a soft spot for Night Goblins for all the reasons you gave. I always hated that goblin green basing but it didn't stop me from doing it 😅 I still have a pot of it and that awful flock! That being said that the basing did 'underline' the paint job and gave a certain 'magical realm' vibe to the figures so what the heck, let's dig out that old goblin green paint 😊😊 Thanks again for the inspiring video!
Yeah they wouldn't have the same impact or feel without those green bases. it really ties them together. I hope you do get that pot out and use it.

My only advise, if you really want to base have that old school style stay away from flock and static grass. Just glue sand, paint it with goblin green and drybrush with yellow. That how we get it done in early 90's.

The old world (Fantasy) was where I got into the hobby back in the early 2000s, these sets bring back some solid memories and will be getting some of the Orc boys again!
I remember getting nto fantasy with 6th edition, thats where my love for Orcs and Goblins came from I think :P

I've always wanted a Night Goblins army, or just an Orcs and Goblins army, in general.
This will eventually turn into Orcs and Goblins. I want to do savage orcs when they get re released. hopefully soon
And now I'm considering buying the Kemri army set...
its a great set. I would definitally do sandy bases for them. they would be great for doing in contrast paints as well

Honestly thats what this video is all about, helping you build and paint an army like this yourself. Do your research and make a plan mainly. when painting you just need to pick what contrast paints you think would work and then choose a lighter colour to highlight. Then base them :D
Great video. I’d add a couple of factors in choosing an army: more historical (eg Empire - Holy Roman Empire inspire) or fantastical (like your goblins); and model count. Do you like the idea of a horde of goblins or would you rather have fewer elite troops (eg Chaos)? Obviously that will affect the nature of the hobby project.

I have a box of squighoppers and it’s hard deciding on square or round bases.
I think if you did round, you can buy converters to make them square. so you could use them for both AOS and Old World. This was going to be what I did originally but it would have lost the charm it has
@@TableTopReadyCZcams I agree with you keeping the charm of your army. What I will be using my squig hoppers for is warcry but I’m wondering if a kind of Old World skirmisher will appear in the future.? I’ve decided I will go round bases, thank you for the inspiration and videos.
if you were just doing friendly games of warcry I'm sure the bases could be sqaure, but depends on who you play. if they did a skirmish game for Old World it would have to be Mordheim

Makes me regret selling my night goblins from the skull pass set :( Best £20 I ever spent and I actually painted everything. Actually hilarious seeing the fanatics fired out of the goblin blocks and smashing much more expensive units apart. Good times.
yeah I had a hge Orc and Goblin army and always regretted selling it. This is me trying to get that all back ha

There's also the advantage that when goblins or squigs die it's really funny whereas if you're playing empire of some kind of elves it's a bit sad when your guys die.

I think everything is stalled at the moment while they figure out their logistics. They've really strung out this AOS release, its crazy. Hopefully improves soon.

its different timelines. Different factions and different style of play. old world is the grandad of age of sigmar

@@TableTopReadyCZcams yeah hehe, I mean, I have nothing against age of sigmar, there's clearly a bunch of people who enjoy it, but "the old world" was my third game, after battlefleet gothic, and 40k, and I still love square bases and ranked infantry and all the cool monsters and war machines.
