Salut tatie kris j'espère que tu vas bien je suis en retard pour l'épisode d'aujourd'hui 😊
Je savais que tu allée mettre une vidéo aujourd'hui maman kris 😊😊
Fun fact, prisoners used to fight over who was going to the gilotine first as the blade would get dull and it would take multiple tries
SLAM “it didn’t work jerry”
“Do it again”
“OH S###”
So fun, that fact..
Oh god
Another "Fun Fact" is that the head can survive some time after being decapitated. Imagine watching a cheering crowd before being thrown in a dark box, fully understanding what has happened
I came to the comments to say this!!!!
Fun fact: the reason why people who were getting hung got blindfolded is because when you are hung, there's so much force on the head, the eyes "pop out" of the socket. So people started blindfolding the hanging victims to take the human element away.
interesting and how is this 'fun'?
@@SlyviaElanorand how is it not fun?
Another fact about the Brazen Bull is that its creator was a famous sculptor who was commanded by a tyrannical emperor, who also practiced cannibalism, to make a torture/execution device. When he presented the finished bronze sculpture to the emperor, he was both horrified and excited... and promptly volunteered the sculptor as the first "test subject." So yes, the first person to die in the Brazen Bull was the person who created it.
that's crazy. seems fair tho
Sounds about right.
The Brazen bull was not the way he died the king said it was a joke about halfway through and took him out and then threw him off the cliff for the final blow
@@SpiderweeeeeeeJesus Christ, that’s insane. I can only imagine how betrayed I would’ve felt if I were the creator. but i assume he was forced to sculpt the torture device, do you know?
@@candacetschakert4193he was forced, then burned, not till death then thrown off a clif
Some of these execution methods are beyond horrifying. It's crazy how cruel humans can be.
Or how inventive people are who want to make up stories of cruelty. Most of these are fake, fortunately

My list:
1. Crucifixion - Iconic
2. Boiling - It's probably an easy death....
3. Hanging
4. Drawing and Quartering - Also an iconic death
5. The Blood Eagle - I dreamt of it as a child, therefore I am prepared
6. Iron Maiden
7. Brazen Bull
8. Guillotine - Decapitation is scary
9. Roman Candles
10. Keelhauling
11. Pear of Anguish - It's okay, I'd give them whatever information they wanted anyway..
12. Rat torture
13. Scaphism
if you would give the information anyway I don’t get why the pear is at 11..?
Yeah that would be my first one. No death and no torture as long as I have all the info. Heck yeah
The crucifixion nails went straight through the medial nerve in the wrist, and likewise between the upper toe bones. So you were suspended by and on your own nerves, and the only way to breathe was to push/pull on the nails to be able to breathe out. You basically suffocated for days only being able to breathe when the fight/flight reflex got so bad that you would push through the pain to take another breath.
“Any final words?” *Pause* “TOO BAD”
THAT WAS AN AMAZING INTRO XD

Fun fact: the phrase "Pulling your leg" (British slang for having a joke) comes from hangings. Because they used to be so botched, like Kris said, family members/friends in the watching crowds would often run to the victims afterwards to pull on their legs, ensuring the neck would break so their loved one didn't have to suffer for longer than needed.
I did not know that thanks
That's so silly🍆🍑
10x, I was always wondering!
My family members have used that phrase for as long as I can remember (we're American). I love the backstory

The creator, Perillus, was actually the first victim of the Brazen Bull. The ruler at the time wanted a “demonstration” and ordered Perillus to be put in it after he showed it off to Phalaris

The best part about the bull is that the creator of it was executed inside of it as a test subject or something if I'm correct. Absolutely hilarious lol

Fun fact: The brain remains conscious approximately 7 seconds after decapitation. That means if you were beheaded swiftly enough, you may be able to experience your head rolling away from your body. (I forget where i heard this, but it is technically a theory, since there isnt a way to experiment or quantify that information)
Actually about 25 seconds
In a darkly humorous way I'm just picturing someone volunteering as an experiment and trying to remember to give a thumbs up if it's true. Because obviously they couldn't yell yes with their vocal chords detached from their mouth like I first pictured.
I mean, Guillotine is probably the least horrific way to die, but you forgot to mention that A, YOU DONT DIE IMMEDIATELY you will see your head dropping to the ground before you actually die, although you'd probably be in shock and not able to actually process what's happening, you would technically still be alive for a few seconds, and B, they often didn't sharpen it after every chop, resulting in a dull blade that would take several tries to actually sever your head :')
I was looking for this comment, another one said prisoners even fought to go first so that it'd be quicker.
@@masterjunko yep, i've read that too. you know you have a problem when people are literally fighting to die first lol....
The people were in no pain, and with testing, they found that they were able to respond through blinking. (five for yes, seven for no)

Fun Fact Time!
- The Pear of Anguish was generally disproven as a method of medieval torture, as the strength of springs at the time period that they were supposedly used were not nearly strong enough to rip open orifices, and could easily be resisted by jaw, pelvic or anal muscles depending where inserted. The jaws of the pear were also likely held closed by a latch, which would not be able to be opened when within a human, and the spring would open the jaws too quickly for the latch to be opened before inserting the device. (Don't quote me on this it is just something i remember from when I hyper fixated on medieval torture methods.)
- The Guillotine was still in use in France when the first Star Wars movie came out.
- Prisoners used to fight over who got to be executed first by the Guillotine as the blade dulled over time and multiple chops had to be made to finish the execution of the final prisoners is there were many to be executed.
Most pears used corkscrews, not springs to open. As the corkscrew was turned, the device expanded.
Don't you love learning new fun facts?
Multiple chops!! How fun!!!1!

For some reason I was really into this as a 11-12 year old (and still kinda now) so I actually recognized a lot of these lol. So facinating.

Just so you know, Kris. People used to fight over who got executed first. This was because the more peoples heads were cut off, the duller the blade got. So everyone shoved and pushed to get first so it was quick and painless. But you fight Pete so it probably wouldn't be as bad
I think Pete is now Anne Boleyn and your the friend sword man 😂😂
The fact that Kris says “we all know they’d accuse me of being a witch back then” and then proceeds to say that she’s gonna rank them 1-13….😂😂😂😂 idk if that was intentional or not but I found it very funny😂😂
Love ya Kris!
I was thinking about whether people would accuse me of being a witch back then, the fact that ten minutes later I found this video 😂😂😂😂
THE INTRO 😭😭 THIS WAS PURE COMEDY , I ALWAYS HAVE TO RUN WHEN KRIS POSTS ♥️‼️
The Pair of Anguish or also known as a choke pair, would also be used in robberies. It would usually be put in a woman’s mouth to keep them from screaming.
Any final words? TOO BAD! That has to be one of my most favorite fucking intros ever.
I always get little shivers whenever I think of decapitation due to the possibility of still being alive for 10 to 15 seconds right after that happens
What!? Really that freaks me out😅
But I wonder if you’d actually be aware… or if your brain just goes crazy for a few seconds

The drawing and quartering was also practiced in Asia more specifically in China and mongolia but it was a little bit different in the sens that your head was also attached to a horse.
And also about the guillotine, Louis 14 was the only person executed that had their head facing the blade so that he could feel the anticipation of it.
Oddly, when the scaphism torture information about the milk and honey was being described, I had this odd thought come to my mind. America has been referred to as long as I can remember as the land of milk and honey, and I've always taken this quote as a positive thing, but now I'm rethinking the whole thing.
Yeah, that one has changed meaning a bit. Lol as a phrase, it means that things that are sweet and nourishing are widely available. But as a punishment, seems a bit ironic.
I’ve been obsessed with ancient torture methods for years (not in a psychopath way, I swear) so this is just my ideal KMK video!! 🖤
Me too! I watched all those videos on torture methods and how they're done. Like you, not in a weird way, just in a childlike curiosity way.
I love how she compliments us in every single video it brightens my day
SO glad it’s back!!! I was missing it. ❤❤❤
Kris, I love this. I've also read and watched things about torture/execution methods through history. A little more information on "The Pear). There were also larger versions from the ones used in the mouth. These were anywhere from 10 in.-12 in. long and about 2-3 in. wide. Some had flat hooked things on the outside. With the point of the "hook" facing in a direction so that no major damage was done during insertion, but would do horrendous damage during opening. These larger versions were inserted in places below the waist. On a male prisoner...well, there was only one hole. On a female prisoner 2. When these were opened, they would tear/cut/shred internal organs. The prisoner wouldn't die right away. The blood usually stayed trapped inside. So if the loss of blood internally didn't kill them over several excruciatingly painful hours, then infection(sepsis) would, and that could take days or weeks.
Keep up the great vids(loving the true crime).
Much love to you and Kevin. Take Care and Stay Safe.
This was really funny to watch for me. As a kid who had a morbid curiosity of history, I knew of all but one of these methods and hearing kris saying oh that doesn’t sound too bad and them being horrified was rather funny lol.

There are actually some cases with the guillotine that the blade does not slice through the head completely, so they have had to go through multiple times, I’m not sure if the victim was still alive with some of these cases, but I have heard about it not working as intended.
Fun fact about the Brazen Bull: the person who created it, Perillos of Athens, was also it’s first victim. The person he created it for wanted a demonstration, and poor Perillos drew the short straw.
Oof-

Fun fact! Sometimes with the guillotine the blade would be too dull and would only cut half the head off. Also another fun fact, although you probably wont feel pain at that point, they did tests and asked people to blink there eyes for as long as they could once their head was cut off and there was instances of people being able to blink there eyes for up to 1 minute after having there head cut off.

@@Still_not_Located12 A device that it put into one of the body's orifices and slowly spread outward. For example, if it were placed in the mouth, it would slowly unfold like a flower until tore holes through the cheeks and broke your jaw. However, the victims didn't die. It was more of the slow and agonizing pain of having your skin ripped apart and jaw dislocated.

Jay is the one killing it. I mean wow brother, the way you can take us on the journey of the story is unreal. Truly art.
agreed :)
Fun fact: crucifixion was also used in the Carthage empire mostly for generals who failed in battle. This is why they were very careful while planning. And the disturbing fact is that they thought this to children in their schools
A very un-fun fact: when you're burning alive, like the Roman candle, your eyes literally melt out of your head before you even have a chance to pass out.
Wow, that really hot me thinking! Good un-fun fact, thanks!
Yeah, I’ve heard it causes the fluids to become a gas which leads to rupture, though I didn’t think this happened before loss of consciousness
21:27 Fun (but also scary) Fact: The Mafia still uses this technique in their torture practices, when getting information out of people, or get back at people who have double crossed/stole from them and to the people who disrespect someone they protect.
Though, they use a metal bucket and a torch gun or sometimes a lighter (if they want to drag it out for a longer period of time), with the person either tied to a chair, laid on a cool floor (to draw the rats to dig deeper) or in the most extreme way, they wield a metal suit onto the victim (this is like pieces of metal that's attached to the bucket, wrapped around them so as to prevent it being taken off.) leaving no chance of escaping death.

"rats running through your body" can be the title of Blood Eagle's first single.
A buddy of mine and I used to sit around and get high and think up different torturous ways to die. One of my favorites that he came up with involved putting someone in a shed, inserting a pipe into their rectum and feeding barbed wire into it, leaving a little hanging out, removing the pipe, securing the wire to the floor, then leaving the shed and lighting it on fire, leaving them with the choice of burning to death or hastily pulling the barbed wire out.

Fun fact... Iron Maidens were never used. They were designed in the Victorian era as a "medieval torture device" by showmen and fantasy writers.
They were "decorated" on the inside with spikes because the contraption itself was a decoration.
Similar to the _spiketunnan_ in Norse culture. Essentially a wooden barrel with spikes driven through. The victim was placed inside and the barrel rolled until death.
Again, it is widely prevalent in folklore but no actual recorded usage
I was looking for this comment, a lot of medieval torture methods were never actually used. Iron Maiden being one of the more famous examples. The blood eagle being a second.
THEY ARE LITERAL SPRINGLOCKS
Fairly positive the brazen bull was also never used. Not at all upset about it.
Didn't know about the origins of the maiden, though!
I’m Dutch and it makes so much sense why we learned about keelhauling in primary/middle school, it also makes sense that they did that tbh. I was 10 first time I heard of this lmao. We learned a lot about torture methods in school tbh.
Side note, the Dutch were insane, at one point they murdered and ate their prime minister and his brother “gebroeders de Witt” it’s also still not illegal to eat human flesh here. 👍🏻
I am from Germany. Same there. We learned about stuff like this at school from a very young age. Like when I was 11, we learned about the Romans and a bit about Egypt and how they would lock up the Pharao's lovers alive alongside him😅 That kinda stuff
I mean... It's not illegal to eat human flesh in America, either !! :3
It may not be illegal to eat human flesh, but any way to obtain human flesh for consumption (or not) is illegal. So indirectly it is illegal.
I grew up in Tidewater Virginia, US, so between the history of colonists, pirates, and the Navy in the area, the school system felt learning about keelhauling was appropriate for 7-9 year olds 🤔
It is actually 😂@@shep6969

The blood Eagle was actually done in a scene on the TV show Vikings, there's also a viking themed tattoo shop in south of England called Blood Eagle ☺️
Also I knew about the keelhauling before, it was done in a film I watched, actually think it might of been done on the series Black Sails but I can't rightly remember.
The blood eagle was also done in Midsommar. But that person was alive for a HOT minute. They were breathing while their lungs were strung up!

as a duch, I know very mutch about kielhaulig. It didn't get used a lot, and if it happend, most victims got proper armor, (mostly leather tho) and survive it. unfortunaly most did pass away after a few weeks due infection of the wounds they got (but most people on a boat didn't survive). compared to the others this was probaly the least worse becouse you still have a chance to survive
I would argue that surviving it's sometimes worse in some of this methods
