Crashing my DJI Avata 2 : I may just have destroyed this drone.

  • On my third flight with the DJI Avata 2 I think I may have destroyed it by breaking the gimbal, I even managed to shatter the ND filter on the lens at the time.
It all happened as I was flying the Avata 2 in sports mode at top speed and I just clipped a tree causing the drone to bounce off the branch sideways in a crazy drift which rapidly turned into a vicious spin and the end result was a badly damaged gimbal.
The gimbal was jammed in position when I got to it and through a bit of manipulation I managed to get it sort of back in position but that was when my problems really started :-)

I have crashed my avata 2 enough times and enough of it was broken I had to use the DJI refresh service. Turns out, when the GPS module is broken, it will only fly 50m altitude haha. great video! An maith leat!

Happy to hear I am not alone in my eagerness to push the drone hard 😂 It's a fantastic little drone though.
I am sure mine will end out in the sea one of these days 😂

Thanks. My camera was stuck facing up. This video helped me repair and is all good now 🤙🏼

You're giggling and I would be crying.
Looking forward to watching some video from it.

I am laughing at my own stupidity Leon. Trust me I was annoyed with myself for a good bit but that didn't solve anything. Life is short and I was ready to chalk it down to experience.
I might fly it a bit easier now, then again I already know that's not going to happen 😂

Cool channel friend! Can you tell me how to improve video stabilization for the Z8?

Hi, thanks for watching and for the feedback.
I am putting up a video in a few weeks on that but if you are using a Z series lens then using Ibis or VR is going to seriously help you smoothen out your footage.
If you are moving a lot while filming sports mode works better.
If you are using the electronic VR then that crazily gets better once your shutterspeed is at or above 1/250th of a second, that's really going to help smoothen it out again.
I hope that helps a small bit.

Hi, I will be posting a full video on this in the next few weeks.
If you are using a Z series lens then switch on IBIS or VR and if you are moving faster then sports mode might work a bit better for you.
If you are using Electronic stabilisation then using a shutterspeed faster than 1/250th of a second will help smoothen out your video a bit more.
I hope that helps a small bit.

@@kieranhayesphotography Another option is to shoot at 60fps and slow it down

@@ggdfggdfgdffgfddg34 that's very true also, that won't work for a lot of things like if people are in the frame and you are walking and talking or anything like that. The ideal solution is to use a gimbal of course as that's going to really help.
Or if you want to go to the extreme put a go pro on the hot shoe and record on that and then use the gimbal data from the go pro to help stabilise the footage from the Z8 in Gyroflow.

@@kieranhayesphotography Hello friend! If it’s not difficult for you in a future video, add gyro stabilization to the camera. The main question is: is it necessary to disable matrix stabilization for gyrostabilization? And if it’s not difficult for you, could you make a video? I heard that this is available on Panasonic cameras. Initially, videographers did this, they used contrast autofocus to point at an object, the camera remembered it, then the camera remembered it at another point, and so on up to 3 points. And then the camera pressed the focus to the 3rd position; in fact, with autofocus lenses, they avoided the need to measure the distance with a tape measure. And are there the same possibilities on Nikon, if possible, tell me how to do the same on Nikon!

Since am an aircraft pilot both rotor, fixed and a 107 for drones I find fly the Avata 2 with the motion control a breeze. But I know it’s not for everyone

@@raynestormwayne7849 It's easy to fly it alright and I loved the motion controller it at the start.
The issues is I am one of those idiots that loves flying close to trees and walls even though I have no experience in flying an FPV drone. As I am used to the standard drone controller, the FPV 3 controller just seems to suit me better.
I know I might be a bit odd that way :-)
