Amen! I was a JW and asked for the truth, and Almighty God, in His faithfulness removed my blinders, delivered me from false religion and saved me...I was in the Word, truly seeking but not until I surrendered did the truth get revealed.

The seriousness of this Word is real. Leave your church! The love of pastors will potentially lead you to a place of destruction. Read the book for yourself. I too like this man believe the Most High is who He says He is. That man and that doctrine are not preached. I confronted a pastor at my church about the differences in doctrine in what is taught in Christianity and what is written in the book, I found out how much they know as well. Never been back. Don't leave your salvation to another man. Learn Him! We can't keep watch if we do not know what to look for. Be blessed.

I have been reading the Bible every night... But I worry because it seems like I just have to force myself to do it. I wish I knew how to develop a real love and hunger for his word. I don't know why it is such a struggle for me. I grew up in a Christian church but for some reason I never learned to really hunger to read the word of God. And I don't understand it because why would I not want to read a book that was inspired by the one who actually created everything in the whole universe!? It scares me because I would be much more excited to read a book by some great man on this Earth than to read The Bible. I don't want to be this way. If anyone is reading this please pray that God will put a hunger and a love for his word into my heart such that I really want to read it and that it's not such a chore.
I think that the fact that you are doing it so eventough you don't "feel like it" means that you are developing a true hunger for His word. Sometimes we get so used to "if I feel like it I should do it", but when Jesus was suffering in the Getsemani I trully believe that he meant saying "let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will." He would not have said it if it wasn't because some part of him didn't want the pain comming. So, don't trust so much in what you feel, but in what He says. Don't worry! keep reading it eventhough you don't feel so much doing so. I'm no native english speaker...I hope this makes sense. God bless!
It's because it's not the word of God. There are no words written down anywhere on this planet from something that could be called God. The tragedy of the inability to accept this is a part of the roaring sadness. Yes, there is value in the Bible's expressions, especially the teachings of the man called Jesus, but humanity and all life on earth transcends it. There is a reason why all the alleged miracles in the Bible don't happen anymore. It's because they never happened. I don't hate religion. I simply understand it for what it is. I also don't believe that it's tenable with the future. It's collapse will come in due course, as all illusions eventually do, so to fight against it is unnecessary. It's peculiar hold on humanity's last few thousand years came with many prices. The physical world, its wildlife and ecosystems, atmospheres. The God of the bible never spoke for them or supported them. And look at where things are now. We know.

God did not create evil, he allowed it to exist by creating free beings who could choose right from wrong and allowing them to see and experience the effects and outcomes of their choices.

I read my Bible every single day, my friend. God creates the ability to choose evil, and he also brings judgment on sinners in the form of evil (i.e. invasions, war, etc.) in order to punish them for their evil. For example, in the book of Exodus (I want to say Exodus, although it is references in Deuteronomy and other places in the Torah) it is stated that since a certain people group was murdering their toddlers by roasting them alive (Molech sacrifice), murder, incest, bestiality, sorcery, homosexuality, etc., God had the Jews act as a form of judgement upon them and had them all killed in a war. God is righteous and will only tolerate so much sin. What I'm trying to say all in all is that God did not create evil, but he will certainly use mankind's own evil against them and stir-up them up to commit evil as a judgement upon themselves. (Jeremiah 30:23; Isaiah 45:7, Deuteronomy 18, and the various selected accounts of the destruction of the Amorites, Amalikites, Caananites, etc. which I will provide for you if you so want to see them).

Your argument is actually faulty, rooted in a big error you failed to realize by not researching the Bible properly. You are quoting the beloved King James Version of the Bible of 1611. I read the KJV very often, because it is beautiful and very accurate. However, when people wanting to disprove the Bible come to it, they don't realize that words like "repent" and "evil" did not mean what they meant today. Evil meant calamity, disaster, bad, or evil in the 1600's. That has changed. Repent meant to change one's mind, that has changed. Look in any conservative, modern translation of the Bible and find where it says "evil" in those places. Better yet, get a Strong's Exhaustive Concordance (available free online) and research the word evil and repent, etc. in the original languages. I have.
Question to Christians: The bible clearly stated that no man comes to the Father, but by me. Question is: What about those who never heard of Jesus? Let us not be naive. There clearly are billions since the beginning who never heard of Jesus, like those in remote areas, those whose parents would even kill them if they sought another god other than their culture. Why should they face eternal damnation for simply not knowing?
1981andybt With all my heart I can honestly say to those who have never even heard of the name Jesus/Yeshua or the gospel God will judge them accordingly, he will give them the opportunity to know him while in sheol ( the place we go when we die until the second coming/ great white throne judgement) why do you think he hasn't come yet? He is giving us time to repent he wants to come and put all in it's rightful place but his grace and love over rides saying I will wait and that's where his children come in to spread the gospel all over the world. If you read the Bible it shows that he doesn't send anyone to hell until after his 1000 year reign when everyone has a chance to see God is real. Then the devil will deceive for another 600 years and then he will make the new world and put all in it's rightful place, I want to be in the new Jerusalem not on the outside with weeping and gnashing of teeth thinking what could have been if I only listened. If someone never even had the chance to know Yeshua I am sure while in Sheol he will reveal himself and hopefully God will have mercy. Sheol ( and I no know one teaches this which blows my mind) is the place all dead people are right now believe it or not we do not get judged right away know one is in hell/heaven. 1981andybt Look at Romans 1, there Paul describes what is in the vernacular called "general revelation" where the entire universe declares God's glory. There is also a story of a young boy who was born into a jungle tribe and one day he looked around at the trees and everything and realized one God made it and he asked that one God to reveal Himself to him. One day two missionaries walk into a jungle village and meet a 70 year old man who tells them about his childhood and then tells them that he has been praying to the God for someone to tell him more. God has made every way so that no one is without excuse.

Ian Mey Yes those are the questions, I agree. I ask them to point out Holy Bibles say different things now - I have 6 put side by side, verse to verse they are different often. So which is the 'true' word of God? However on many, many verses they say / mean the something if not exactly word for word.
When a man holds up a book as God's word, the question is - is it the true word of God? The answer is no. One can still be a Christian and know the BIble is not the 'True' word. Its really not hard. Context, research, and follow Christ.
What should we believe - believe in Jesus Christ, not a book, not a man preaching. When someone holds the book up above God, there is a problem. God did not make it hard to believe in Him, its all the crap preaches talk. So another question - why so many denominations of Christianity?

Francis Chan is a joyful guy. I like the way he preaches, he doesn't sound like someone else, he always sounds like Jesus is his best friend and that his relationship is very real to him. He uses scripture all the time. I think the main thing about this sermon is OPEN YOUR BIBLE UP AND GET THE WORD FOR YOURSELF.
You can not know the Christian god without the bible. because it is the only source to learn about his proposed existence. because God or jesus did not write any of the books within the bible , the reader is placing his/her faith in the author not the characters within the book. The followers of Christianity have to place all their faith in those who contributed to the content of the bible , not god! because their knowledge / concept of God does not come from God but from an array of opinions /stories written by other mortal humans.
