Yeah..really pretty song in a very beautiful language..My family (going back to 16th century ) are from Iceland, and i've always felt this intense connection with Iceland...wish i would have had the opportunity to spend time there and learn the language.
why is iceland soo beautiful and good in everyway? nature is beatiful, reykjavik is beatiful, the blue lagoon is beutiful. everything is good. i am soo happy my dad moved here with his icelantic girlfriend!!!

even when I'm not in Iceland, I can still feel the vibes of the Viking's people, blue lagoon fragrance, wind breeze, and cold weather by listening to this song.
wow... beautiful song, I didn't even know what was the meaning of the words, but I just enjoyed listening to the song. Now, when I checked the meaning, this song is even more beautiful. Can't wait for September, when I'm going to visit amazing Iceland.. till then. greeting from Israel.
Translation of the lyrics Miss Reykjavík Who’s that walking along Austurstræti Her aroma like flowers of the spring With her bold gaze and slight self-importance On those incredibly hot-red shoes *Oh, that girl is quite beyond compare That girl is Miss Reykjavík Oh, that girl is quite beyond compare That girl is Miss Reykjavík* Who sits there, glowing embers in golden hair In the grass at Arnarhóll So youthful in new nylon stockings And a new revealing Chiffon dress ** Oh, that girl is quite beyond compare That girl is Miss Reykjavík ** Who glides along the Tjörn embankment To a rendez-vous with a (young) gentleman Who waits alone on a tan summer jacket By the birch at Hljómskálinn ** Oh, that girl is quite beyond compare That girl is Miss Reykjavík ** Oh, that girl is quite beyond compare That girl is Miss Reykjavík Who walks there down Austurstræti On her incredibly hot-red shoes

Beautiful memories of Iceland , such a beautiful song and language! I would go back straightaway if I could. Such an amazing country gets into your soul.
I heard this song on the radio a lot driving around Iceland. Is anyone able to send a link with lyrics so I can translate? Had no success with google. Absolutely love this song and would like to use it on my Iceland video.
This song was recommended by my Icelandic friends while I was traveling there, very nice song. Now this song got stuck in my mind, just as how much as I love Reykjavik city.
I miss Iceland so much.. I left my heart in Iceland.. An Icelandic lady I met during the trip explained to me that this used to be an old poem. I would love to read the translated version of this poem. could someone help??
The translation is above. It is more than we have all been Miss Reykjavík as young girls fluttering through town. It described each street, a rendezvous with a young man and the joy of youth..
I’ve never lost a sibling. Not even a parents. At 44, I consider myself very lucky to still have my immediate family a phone call away. I often think “What happens when someone close to me dies?” I’m painfully aware how rare and temporary it is that I still have my family today. But it terrifies me to think how I might survive the loss of a parent or sibling. When I first watched this, I just felt “This is so sad. That must be horrible.” But watching it again, it hit me… I am 15 years sober. After years of struggling with addiction, I am free today from my need for drugs and alcohol. I AM that brother who might just as easily have been lost. I am very close with my big sister. Watching this video again, I feel like - this is what it could have been like for her. Waking up. Brushing her teeth. Feeding the cat. Going about her day - after day - after day… haunted by my absence. It’s strange to think how - the world WILL go on without me. But because I was here, my absence will leave a painful void that my loved ones would have to bear every single day for the rest of their lives. It felt like I had a chance to glimpse what it might have been like for my sister if, after years of trying to save me, and watching me try in vain to save myself… she had lost me. It’s haunting to see how much my absence would be with her each and every day. I am so grateful not only for my own sobriety, but that today I am someone who can help others find their way out of addiction. Thank you Kiirstin for pouring yourself into something real that we can see ourselves in.

Is ”Fröken” an icelandic Word? In swedish ”fröken” means miss. So fröken Reykjavik translates into ”miss Reykjavik” in english. I wonder if fröken has the same meaning in icelandic as in swedish.

Is ”Fröken” an icelandic Word? In swedish ”fröken” means miss. So fröken Reykjavik translates into ”miss Reykjavik” in english. I wonder if fröken has the same meaning in icelandic as in swedish.
Yes it is the same
Of course same in Norwegian. A young woman, not yet married basically.
