      Maybe he has to interview phony people even when he doesn't want to, just because they are in the public eye. But you can tell when he genuinely admires a guest, like he showed in this interview of Lady Gaga. She's really a lovely person, and what she said about Dr. Ford was so spot-on, it brought tears to my eyes. I'm sorry Stephanie had to suffer a sexual assault; I am very glad she survived and lived to tell the tale. May Brett Kavanaugh burn in hell for what he did to Dr. Ford (& other women I'm sure), and I truly believe he will pay the price for his actions after he crosses over (praying that is soon...). He is absolutely unfit for a position on the Supreme Court. They should abolish that "term for life". Then once Biden gets into office, he could oust the sexual assaulters and harrassers such as Kavanaugh & Clarence Thomas, and replace them with judges who are decent people like Merrick Garland.

      verbst EXACTLY! Thank you! I was molested by my older cousin at the age of 5- yes 5. I told no one AT ALL until I was 35 and sought counseling. That “box” I hid for so long; full of trauma, and unwarranted shame was ready to implode my well being due to my own destructive behaviors. I remember being a happy, fun, jovial child before that. (I have cheesy pics of me at four doing the Fonzie thumbs up, and me at 3, at Disneyland walking down a bench acting like a 70’s model). Then THAT happened. I try not to, bc I know it’s not good, but I often wonder who and where I’d be if that HUGE incident hadn’t altered my psyche indefinitely. Yes, I know, *some* women lie, but MOST DON’T. For Dr. Ford to put herself out there AND take an oath, and then not be believed and even mocked by the assaulter in chief, was the strongest/hardest thing she’s ever had to do. She was what 13-15 years old. If I was 5 and can remember this, just bc I never told “anyone sooner”. DOES. NOT. MEAN. IT. DID’NT. HAPPEN.

Additional points - she didn’t want this to be public (yet she went to the Democratic Party instead of her local senator address the issue). President trump was accused during his presidency (yet never any time before - interesting) and the accusations fell apart - thus for now making him innocent until otherwise prevent guilty meaning he cannot be called an assaulter...but as with the case of those defending Dr.Ford (as with Emit Till [excuse any misspelling]), evidence doesn’t matter .. only the word of a wealthy white woman

    I'm glad she used the word triggered unapologetically and unironically. People need to stop treating that as a joke. It literally relates to PTSD and anxiety...the fact people joke about it shows a misunderstanding of how serious it can be. If you got in a car accident then got nervous being in a car, it's understandable. Right? You'd avoid cars for a while. This is the same thing. I wish everyone knew that when hearing the word triggered. Trigger warnings help people stay away from things that can seriously mentally debilitate them so they can function well.

      +MsYogaGrrrl ~ By your reasoning, why bother w/allergy warnings? why "bubble-wrap" ppl? if they eat something harmful to them, they should just get over it, it'll make them more resilient. Saying "real life" is so incredibly condescending. Everything is real life, ppl are just trying to survive trauma.

    • @pickclawraider4206
      @pickclawraider4206 Před 5 lety +3

      The problem you face is that your definition of trigger warning is much different than what it is today. If a trigger warning were only related to things like PTSD or clinically diagnosed anxiety/depression/etc. that would be one thing. People take legitimate words and warp the meaning to fit their own agenda. Trigger warnings today are more akin to protecting people from any source of possible offense, no matter how mundane or insignificant. The sad truth is that the majority of people will experience a plethora of heart ache, pain and discomfort. It is impossible to be so careful and sensitive as to avoid causing anyone else offense or discomfort by the words we use. Sure, people don't need to be assholes to each other, but I feel my generation and those that follow lack any semblance of resilience or the ability to take a hit and keep on. Under almost no pressure or stress people buckle completely and lose all functionality. This is not healthy. But, to each their own.

    • @LadyDynamitez
      @LadyDynamitez Před 5 lety +4

      Pickclaw Raider, yeah, the thing is, people didn't really understand what TRIGGERED or TRIGGER even mean. Something that makes you slightly uncomfortable? Triggered. I believe it started from the site tumblr, because that's where I saw shit loads of it. Even saw a "trigger warning" for TREES. It was ridiculous and humorous to me from day one. And because of those, the point and meaning of triggered and trigger warnings became a joke, when it's a real, serious thing that exists.

    • @pickclawraider4206
      @pickclawraider4206 Před 5 lety +2

      LadyDynamitez, Sure, I understand, and give it to the internet to take anything at all and turn it into a joke, no surprise there, but my point still stands. When something is offensive to me, I turn away from it, turn it off, or separate myself from it. I don't start a crusade to end all things offensive to me, even if it really hurts, then I move on. I try not to be an asshat to people in general, and sometimes perhaps my sense of humor gets the best of me (I tend to be pretty crude, but I'm also considerate of people around me). I just think we should be teaching younger generations to be more resilient and emotionally stronger to be able to weather the difficulties in life without caving in, or making everything such a huge deal. I think far more damage is done by people crying victim, when they dwell and stew over something. It's a fantasy though, things are getting worse and worse.

The next album was ARTPOP and it was absolutely the worst times Gaga has been through because of media again. Take a look at ARTPOP and the street performances from that era. This is one of the BEST Lady Gaga interviews I've ever seen. I love the way Colbert doesn't constantly interrupt his guests to inject himself into the interview. Also, I've long admired Gaga's talent. When I first heard her, I remember thinking, this woman can sing, something many modern pop stars can't do. There are videos of Gaga vocals stripped down without tracks added. Superb. People derided her because of her costumes, but the woman has talent to back up her theatrics. Now for Madonna.I'm 49, so I was in junior high when she came the scene. Madonna can dance, but her vocal talent is... limited. Her genius is in self-promotion. She knew shock value would establish her career. Raw sexuality that would seem quaint now was controversial back in the 80s + 90s. But Madonna has proven to be extremely arrogant. Shes criticized Gaga and made snide comments about other artist. Oh well. Gaga has real talent and that speaks for itself. Now Gaga has both a hit flm, soundtrack, and winning raves for her acting. Something Madonna tried but never achieved. Oh well.

Arrogant? Definitely. But that's Madonna. Even though i dislike Madonna nowadays I still give her props for the way she kept reinventing herself throughout the 80s and 90s and for paving the way for others. She was a bad bitch back then. I was really touched by this interview, she’s entirely unique. Limitless talent and great intelligence and genuine genuine genuine.

    Its a credit to Colbert's love for the film, that he allocated Lady Gaga with a 30min interview slot!

      But even more so, she had 30 mins time for an interview. Gaga is the "bigger" person.
