- The Santa Cruz Blur has taken many different shapes over the years, as of 2018 the Blur holds form as the full suspension XC race bike in Santa Cruz's lineup. They also offer a Blur TR option which sports a more aggressive trail ready build. I just got a Blur TR and love it! It makes me wonder if people are “Over biking” to compensate for lack of skill. It’s an easy trap to fall into as I’ve done it myself. I think the industry may be shifting to bikes like this...!
Solid vid.
Thanks man!
Great video. Stilling lovin' my 05 Blur Classic. I wish CZcamsrs would mention where/what trail they're riding. Enquiring minds always want to know. When/if I can afford a new bike it will be a Blur or a Yeti. Triple.
Thanks, this is a trail near Pismo Beach, Ca. Nothing with a name though, just a little beach-side short single track.
@@artscyclery875 ...then name it, "Butte le Blur".
At 6:48..does it say "The Blur"? Nice review with solid music choice!
I’m in the market for a new mountain bike and just came across your review. Just wondering how you think the stock Blur TR compares to the stock Yeti SB100. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Man was your camera adjusted correctly, that bike was a blur, damn what a lame joke 😀. Dude that bike is nice. Love that background music 👍. I still watch those old cowboy movies once in a while.
Thanks Derek. We figured "Down Country" was fitting enough for some Western tunes!
@@artscyclery875 yea, that was cool. Hey man, thanks for the reply.
@@dereksmith3632 For sure man, thanks for watching!
Hey man, awesome setup. What fork offset are you running in those Fox 34s? Cheers!
51mm offset on this one!
Why did you go with the 155mm saddle? I've been on different iterations of Spec saddles with 143mm width and happy. I've been thinking about going wider. Any noticeable difference with that width? I have a mens power arc in 143mm that I'm not sold on yet, but like the short nose. Thanks! Sweet Build!
so saddle width is based on your anatomy. I'd recommend measuring your sit bones and going from there, we have a video on how to pick the right saddle here, czcams.com/video/E7j9LUVJrjA/video.html
Why the Rockshox rear shock? Did you have have it tuned to match the standard Blur's Fox Rear Shock platform mode, or is it more of a trail setting-stock mode (IMO the VPP should give the Blur enough of a stable platform mode to run Open Mode all the time)? Does the shock have lockout/Firm-climb/Open mode settings? Kind of a spendy upgrade considering the frame comes with the Fox Factory rear shock. Did you consider going with a 44 offset Fox SC34 fork instead of the 51? The Blur Trail version comes with the 44, and so does the Yeti SB100 that's comparable.
Hi Joel, this is the only shock available in the after market with a tune for the Blur, I would have gone for a Fox to match the rear had it been available without the lockout.
@@artscyclery875 Did you look into having Fox remove and retro fit the Factory Rear Shock for the lever activated firm/med/open mode?
How about the fork, did you look into or test the Blur with a 44 Offset 34 SC fork (the Blur Trail comes with the 44 offset fork)?
@@joehamilton4568 Hi Joe, we got the frame without a shock, otherwise we would have looked into the removal of the lockout, we chatted with Fox about offsets and felt confident about our choice here, though experimenting with a low offset fork would be interesting.
If I had money, I'd make the Blur my second mountain bike.
What does the 120mm fork bring the angles out to?
It's right at 68 degrees.
Tire pressure? Suspension settings? Why does your bike have no wires?
Haha, sick bike. All of the Above except for the wire question
Haha, thanks man. As far as tire pressure I'm running 23 psi up front and 27psi in the back. Currently still tinkering with suspension setting but about 200psi in the back and 85 psi up front. So far I've been happy with the fork compression settings fully open (one click on the finite adjustment) and rebound set in the middle. As far as the shock goes, I will likely add a volume spacer as the stock setup leaves me wanting more bottom-out support.
@@artscyclery875 I know this is an old video but about how much does Trevor weigh? I finally built up a custom XL Blur and am struggling a bit to dial in the rear suspension. At about 200 lbs the suggested pressure gives me almost no sag and feels like an absolute rock. I winded up closer to the settings above but maybe my shock pump is way off...
This bike is cool. PLease tell us price of it
Holy crap that's one heavy XC bike!
It's "Downcountry" Yo, these tires can handle abuse!
@@artscyclery875 Downcounty.....lol
hi i have a 20 blur with 32 fork i want buy also a trail 34 focused fork do you suggest me 51 or 44 offset? 2 0r 3 lock?
I would suggest a 51mm offset Fit 4. the remote-lock is cool for competitive XC, but the standard 3-position would be my vote for every day use.
@@artscyclery875 ok thank you and shock wich one is better? also shock with 3 lock? handlebar with 34 fork i will go 35 with 10 rise 50 or 40 stem for xc i will go with 32 fork 100 mm 31.8 flat bar and 50 stem i'm 170 cm (want try also 60 mm stock is 70 mm)
@@Mrrs6580 The RS deluxe is the only shock available aftermarket, I prefer this over the remote lockout Fox shock that comes stock. I wouldn't recommend running a stem shorter than 50mm on this bike.
@@artscyclery875 for xc you suggest me 60 or 70 with flat or 10mm rise?for sure i will go 31.8 bar on xc
Down Country : what does it mean ? What is the difference with the XC ?
Think of a downhill bike and XC bike having a baby..
148 boost rear hub spacing??
That's correct.
Do a video how to pop a wheelie
Nose wheelie, Manual, or basic?
How tall are you?
Trevor is 6'2"
6:48 WOW, i don't even know XC bike can drop this height...
