Matt's off-road recovery: "Even when we remember gas we forget gas."
Ah I see what you did there
"whatever kind of gas, we forgot it"
You're going to have to keep Tom in the shop. He tests equipment before getting in the field. That's unacceptable. 😂😂😂
Edit: It's okay, he forgot the gas. He's a team player after all.😂
Lol😅
Remember, Tom forgot the bring the gas.
And his gas gauge isn’t accurate, plus he said he was going to make do with a temporary fix for the welder’s plug. Sounds like he is channeling his inner Matt.
Ahahahhahahahahahhahahaha
LOL!
Warms my heart to see Rudy helping out. Still miss Trevor and Tucker and Eric as well.
Same. Time for reruns.
Rudy's camera help makes me forget about those other guy's 👌 thanks for helping Rudy...
Wait Eric left as well?
@@evmexia88 I haven't seen Eric since the Christmas Party video, but that's not unusual. I think he's still running Winder Towing.
@@evmexia88 I’m pretty sure he’s gone
Always good to see Rudy....and his dog. I love that little stinker.
Watching Tom plan and execute a recovery is so relaxing compared to the normal "we left the keys, we have no gas, we forgot the ropes, etc." 🤣
Edit: Never mind 😂
Edit killed me🤣🤣🤣
Just all around better without Matt's obvious directives trying to make himself look smart.

Got to have at least one person that comes prepared. "Rudy you have a regulator? Yes."
And Janelle .
Dude with double master's degrees driving a truck entirely made of leaf springs welding stuff out unprepared in the boonies and being saved by gigachad Rudy.
Love you, Tom!
I prefer flux core for outdoor stuff, the slightest wind blows the shieling gas away. That suitcase welder is SWEET, I need one. Rudy to the rescue, keep making birdhouses Tom, love you in the Spectrum commercials...
Watching Rudy and Tom welding together on a repair is great 👍
But you aren't welding your transmission😅
Most guys would be too grumpy to do remote welding. Thank God for optimistic people like you guys😅
Even if you would have failed at least you tried. Most people wouldn't even try what you guys do. That keeps us watching for sure. I have driven a washboard road a time or two.😅
Apparently they don't make steel like they used to?
Just nice to see the Rudy guest appearance
That needs to be the next Matts off-road recovery shirt. A bunch of Tom quotes like “keep that window down if you need to puke”
Doing very engineer like things with all of this preparedness and testing. Nice 🙂
Isn’t he an engineer tho? That’s literally how his brain works
lol. front side is just Tom's face, back side is a ton of quotes.
And : "We didnt come to see the dogs" :)
"Keep that window open, in case you need to puke" ('CAUSE I AIN'T STOPPIN')
Rudy coming in clutch, and we know he is busier that a 1 legged man in a but kicking contest! Respect.
Just as I thought Tom's pre-flight checks represented a new chapter for MORR, he confirmed the fuel gauge didn't work and brought it all back to normal again. 😁

I miss Tucker :(
Trevor and Tucker just started a new channel called MisAdventure Labs.

I see Tom is living up to the MORR tradition of always forgetting something 😂
Unlike the Boyscouts their motto is never be prepared
"Rudy Rescue" I Love it when a plan comes together!
You'll want to bypass the CO sensor. Everyone who gets the 9500 Predator ends up doing the same thing because of how sensitive the sensor is. Takes about 5 minutes to do!
That way it'll run great back at the shop when they forget it. 😂
You should make a youtube video of how to do that.
@@philbert006Or they will remember to bring the generator and forget to fill it up. 😂

He just needed Trevor to make it perfect 😂
Maybe you could keep an emergency roll of Flux core with your welder.
11:47 -- I like that quick close up of the welds and the reaction from Rudy and Tom. You did good boys! You guys need to start wearing capes to these repair jobs. Saved the day once again!
"All's weld that ends weld" 😂
That generators exhaust is covered in the truck bed it has a auto shut off when the exhaust doesn’t take air!!! Nice to see Rudy again
Tom, you and Rudy did great with what you had and where you were. Guess it's a great excuse to build Dig Doug for mobile welding and trail recovery.
That suitcase welder makes my heart go pitter patter.
Karnage Welder for the win!
Im not a welder or able to do even a fraction of what you guys do, but the blurred welds have me rolling... haha

You two are easily the best duo on MORR
Rudy's The Man. I'm always impressed with his abilities.. Watching Rudy and Tom welding together on a repair is great .
Another fun video of what you guys do for people. Welding a trailer so it can get home while in the middle of the desert. Great stuff.
Cut the white and green wire and the white wire on the carbon monoxide sensor and wire them together. No more problems with the generator. ( They might be different colors on yours but that worked on my predator.) It bypasses the sensor completely.👍👍
I just used a foot of pipe to extend the exhaust and never had a problem since
Hahaha!
When I saw Tom test the new generator and welder I was just thinking "but does he have some gas in it??"
Then I thaugh " it's TomTom, he probably have a jug with him, and it's probably full tank already"
- I was wrong...
😂
It's awesome to see Rudy again and helping out.
I share Rudy's sentiments. You were there to recover a broken trailer, not re-fabricate and rebuild a poorly designed one.
AGREE! Major fail! That POS trailer will probably break and kill someone. They better think twice next time when doing repairs like this. At least there is proof out there that this trailer was now fabricated by Matt's off road recovery and they now own all liability to that trailer. It's one thing to do a temp repair to get someone back to civilization. Totally different when you rebuild something for someone and you have no idea how it will hold up to their abuse for the rest of it's service life. MAJOR FAIL!
Crafty sasquatch? Wow you are a total douchebag.
@@CraftySasquatch It's almost like you didn't see the video at all over your rabid barking. It was made very clear that the repair job WAS "a temp repair to get someone back to civilization" and NOT a high quality rebuild made for punishment.
@@CraftySasquatchyou're a goofball. They have no liability. He literally in the first minute of this video says it's temporary. Get a life and get off youtube comments 😂
Baby Rojo Beard to the rescue!
I would Love to see more Videos with Tom & Rudy Great Combo !❤ We Love Rudy's Channel too !!!❤
I think MOFF needs a nice new BBQ pit for the shop, and that Tom should have to build it with only metal, tape measure, grinder and the oldest stick welder you can find..
Also, it's okay Tom, I once took a two hour drive and two hour boat ride to pull a boat out of mud and forgot all of my pull ropes at my house.
I've been a welding instructor for about 25 years now, and Tom, I can tell you for certain that straight argon is not capable of making any sort of GMAW weld outside of aluminum, which is why it was welding so horribly. Although that was all on Rudy for bringing the wrong gas. Best solution would be to use a self shielded wire for jobs like that.
Someone needs to show Tom that you can extend a Hi-Lift just by pulling up on the handle when it is vertical instead of needing to pump it from the ground to the lift point. Saves a ton of time. (^_^)
_EXACTLY_ ! Typical rocket scientist ~ all the gear and no idea!
I noticed that too lol
@@dancarter482 Nuclear engineer actually but yeah.
I legitimately thought to myself, the one thing they don't have is spare gas.
It’s great to have friends like Rudy around it makes life a little brighter and better. Way to go y’all.😉👍♥️
Rudy isn't a friend, he is Matt and Jaymie's eldest child. It is good to see him working with MORR because he worked for his father when the channel started.
@@roberthudson1959 Rudy is Matt's son, but Jaymie isn't his mother. Rudy's mother lives in Canada, she and Matt were divorced.
😂 blurred out the bad welds 😂 too funny
Flux core is kind of crumby and dirty, but it works. For off-road welding, it's one less thing to worry about.
Versions of it are used extensively in industry.
You just need to have plenty of time using it before you start making good use of it.
Flux core or stick welding is solid. Sure, it will splatter more and you have slag, but out in the wind I’d rather have a well working flux core than a gas mig.
I noticed the New Yellow Toolboxes. I missed that Video..very cool
Flux core: no gas needed! Great to see Rudy helping out, the crossover episode we all wanted.
Tom, you have learned the low gasoline scenario from Matt very well. It is great to keep the company tradition alive.
He had plenty of gasoline just no welder gas
The way everyone supports everyone else out there is great! Rudy to the rescue! 😁
They should have just used the remainder of the truck frame to build the tongue instead of using smaller material. My father built a homemade trailer like this in the early 80s. They heated and bent the truck frame to make an A-frame and welded it together. The trailer is still being used today. 😊
Nice job. Great to see Rudy and the Comanche (good thing that Tom forgot the gas...made for some great teamwork). [oh, and I would choose a "victory pie" over a "victory cookie" most days]
Nice work by Tom just to get everything ready to go, and excellent save by Rudy.
Love your narration, Tom. You do a great job! Loved the welding and leaving those folks much better off than the way you found them.
That is what happens when you are in a hurry! You always forget something important! Thanks to Rudy you got it fixed!
This is gotta be one of my favorite ones. I hope to see more modifications recoveries on dig doug.

How awesome is that suitcase welder?!? Never heard of such a thing.
Karnage Welder. Up and running in no time and no gas or batteries required.
They're pretty awesome little setups for quick trail repairs till you can get back to the shop to do it better
@@davidwoermansr You'd be surprised ;) I welded on my hydraulic steering ram on my buggy 2 years ago and it held till just last month.
@@JoeOBremski I welded a hydraulic lift cylinder on our hay feeding tractor after it snapped in half used a flap wheel to smooth it out to not totally wreck the seal hoping it would last 2 weeks till the new cylinder came in and it lasted 4 months till it was well above freezing to change it (we figured we better change it before loading the turd hearse since a bucket full of cow flop is heavier than a round bale of hay) we still have it in the back of the shop as a spare just in case not much about welding surprises me except how some people get certified to weld pipeline and government jobs yet can't look a welder over to figure out how to turn it on and adjust it to weld I've hired 2 of those idiots and fired them within a half hr of their first day and replaced them with kids fresh out of high school

“That’s not going anywhere” - you guys kill it!
That tool suited for Thor is called a wood splitting maul. I used to associate "maul" with the damage done by beasts, but it derives from the Latin malleus (hammer). At the Battle of Agincourt, mauls were used by longbowmen to hammer tent stakes, but the pointed end plus the heavy weight made them a great improvised weapon. I first learned about this tool in a catalog; interesting to see one pop up in an offroad recovery video!
I learned about the maul when I was 6 or 7 when I was old enough to go to the woods and be around the chainsaws and buzz saw splitting firewood to load the trucks and trailers
Nice to see Rudy help out. Good work Tom.
Atta boys. Adapting to the situation and making it happen. Good job men.
I love Tom's truck. Squarebodies and leaf springs 4 life
Life Lesson - Either fully test your setup before you leave or don't bother testing at all. You were so close to using the welder before you left but you didn't so you didn't realize you were missing part of your setup.
I thought he was using flux core wire
@@mrwilson7617 flux core is the business for a mobile setup.
I mean do you "fully test" your car before you drive it every time? ABS? Thermostat? Maf sensor? He tested the things he built on the day. He forgot a thing. That's different to testing what you built.

Best part of my day is watching MORR. Makes me miss Teasdale livin'.
Dear Tom tom, after having fought a battle with an 83 suburban fuel gauge, replacing the fuel sending unit etc..I learned that on the back of your fuel gauge, is a ceramic resistor that goes across 2 of the three studs. It should read about 90 ohms when bench tested off of the gauge. If it's an open circuit it will cause weird fuel level readings. Hope this helps 👌
Good effort TomTom! It’s not easy to grab everything in a rush and not forget something especially when it’s not the usual recovery vehicle.

The next build should be an off-road gas station.😂
Yep, gasless fluxcore is the duck's guts for trail repairs. The tensile strength is actually higher than mild steel with gas. You just have to run it electrode negative and drag it like stick. Your Miller box should run it just fine (find the knurled wire feed rollers you should have got with it.).
we run that 200 Suitcase with flux core, it does a great job!
I weld the same with flux core as I do regular wire and never had a problem
@@davidwoermansr you have to push with gas because the penetration is lower, pushing helps with that. You have to pull with fluxcore otherwise you will get root inclusions, same as with stick. Unless you’ve done test pieces for coded certification you might not know. There’s also dozens of different flux core wires with very different types of flux.
@@Chrisamic I've been certified since 1990 in the early 00s I was underwater certified (till an auto accident made it so I can't get dive certified then I let that go) I don't weld any different with flux core than regular and never had any problems with penetration and never had a weld failure yet I've had the steel rip an inch from the weld on a heavily overloaded pickup bed trailer (dumped 6.5 tons of scrap steel out at the iron yard) we loaded it on my miniexcavator trailer used the loader to flip it upside down behind my trailer then back on strapped it down took it home and welded a patch over the broken spot

“Couldn’t find any of the right parts at the store” literally every time I go to a Tractor Supply
Testing before use is a must, good going. In the world of heavy machinery testing is everything. If we test all the systems and systems separate and together our success rate is close to 100% proven time after time, and many years proven experience. Getting all the stuff for field repair is always a crapp shoot, we once had a helo come and deliver tools, parts, manuals, and stuff we just thought we needed. This situation the helo delivery method was cheaper that holding up the progress we needed, time machines, labor, and reputation was at stake. Ten-4
