Many folks don’t know that Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera. He turned it down to pursue a wider range of music genres.
Great that Dimash learnt the song the day before and this result was after one rehearsal together! Dimash is great at singing with other people. He could so easily overpower the other singers he sings with, but he never does! He’s so respectful! He also matches his vibrato to the person he’s singing with! Amazing performance from both of these legends!
This is a dream come true for Dimash. He shared that, at the age of 5, he had a VHS of a concert by Maestro Domingo. He dreamed from then to now to meet and work with the Maestro. This was part of a program called Virtuosos, which supports young classical artists. Dimash was invited to be a judge on the program by Maestro Domingo. I know he appreciated the opportunity to support young artists. We are all do proud of him and hope all his dreams come true. Dimash learned this in one day and had only one rehearsal.

And they had just ONE day to rehearse together. That’s so amazing. I love this duet since I grew up with Plácido Domingo and Dimash is my favorite singer now. It wasn’t only Dimash’s dream which came true but mine too.

Many bel canto teachers have verified that Dimash brings a cross interpretation between rigid classical singing (which must follow norms and exactly as the author of the piece wrote, from the notes and durations, the portamentos, the expressiveness... Everything) and much more popular flexibility. For purists, let's remember that Dimash had the dream of singing with Plácido Domingos since he was a child and it was the Maestro himself, Don Domingos, who suggested the duet (he knew that even with classical training, Dimash would sing as a cross between classical and pop )! Dimash only had one day to remember the work and make the recording, as this moment is part of the competition (like a talent show) for children with musical talent: The “Virtuosos”! Dimash, as well as Placido Domingos, were part of the Jury, accompanied by Erika Miklósa (opera singer), Adrás Keller (violinist, conductor and musical director of the Budapest Concert), Hauser (cellist), Plácido Domingos Jr. composer), Pablo Sanz Villegas (classical guitarist), Gabriela Rachid (cultural director) and Harvey Goldsmith (music promoter)! The show was in Budapest (Hungary) from January 16th to 26th this year, 2024!
Not only did Dimash learn this French aria in one day, but he had a sore throat and a cough. He was maybe protecting his throat on the higher notes.

Keep in mind that Dimash has masters degrees in both classical and contemporary music. He practices for hours every day and I'm certain that includes his classical voice. Note that Dimash steps away from the microphone to balance the tones to match Domingo rather than dominate the performance as some tenors are tempted to do.
Lo mas impresionante de esto es que Dimash estuvo 24 horas antes enfermo con bastante tos y solo tuvo 24 horas para aprenderse esta canción en un idioma que no habla. ya que en un principio placido domingo no lo había invitado a cantar con el y lo decidió a ultima hora el invitarlo, increíble lo de Dimash.
If ever there was a rendition of a classical to give me goosebumps, it is this song. Perfectly matched voices. Placido knew well when he invited Dimash to do this as a duet with him. A first class, brilliant performance by this young man. There is so much to take in and learn from him. He is truly in a category of his own.
I have been listening to and watching many music reaction videos. Now, I have listened to only two reaction videos of yours, both of Dimash. This one, and the other apparently your first one done on "Sinful Passion". After this one I feel the urgent need to tell you that your demeanor, your commentary on the pieces, but most importantly in how you put things across (going back to demeanor) are the things that strike me.
I appreciate really good music and so, commentary and/or criticism should match as best. Within the space of these two reaction videos you have touched something very dear to me, whatever that is. I have therefore decided to subscribe to your channel. Congratulations.❤

Lo mejor de todo es que Dimash hizo su sueño realidad, pues Dimash de pequeño a los 5 años escuchaba un concierto de Plácido Domingo y le dijo que por Plácido estaba en la música y que su sueño era que algún día lo conocerían y haría un dueto con él, dijo Dimash que amaba Budapest porque ahí se hizo su sueño realidad
8:20 Placido is not really singing anymore, he became teacher, judge. But it was Dimash dream to sing with Maestro (when Domingo became famous, Dimash was not even born yet) so that dream came true.
Mr. Domingo is the one who asked Dimash to sing either him not the opposite. And yes it was his dream and We are happy for him
