I notice she never criticizes her work in her sketchbook tours. Most people rant about how much they hate each page, she always gives her work grace and speaks life and positivity into what she creates❤

I agree thats why she is my favorite to watch. I dont like when artist are constantly criticizing their own work its about enjoying to process and finding the joy. It really zaps the joy out when they focus on their errors instead of the process

Like sometimes it’s also just that you look at your art with a different skill level than other people do, so then the things you see don’t even make sense to others haha and they think you’re just trashing your work on purpose… 🫠 for me it’s super important to recognise my mistakes to learn from them and improve, so even if i point it out it never means that i am not having fun and even if i « ruin » something in my opinion i don’t mind and move on to the next page! That’s just how i get better but ofc other people don’t know what’s going on inside my head!! So I’m trying not to be harsh but it’s soo sooo difficult not to put it out there all the time! 😅😂

I'm 51 years old and in 2023 I decided it was time to explore new (and old) horizons. I have always loved art and illustration but have not sketched much at all in the past 20 years. Your sketchbook tours, tips and tricks, and instructional videos have been a great inspiration to me in rediscovering my passion for sketching and painting. Thank you so much for being such a kind and patient guide throughout this ongoing process.

Most comfortable feeling for me is to sit in the morning (not the early morning, but morning when you woke up by your own desire instead of be woken up by alarm when you work 6 days a week and always wake at 7), eating breakfast that I want and watching your video when it is so quiet and no one is interrupting me. Just beautiful.

I’m so blown away with every single thing you create! And I love every time you say that sometimes the drawing/artwork just doesn’t turn out the way you want so don’t get stuck on it, move on, change the scenery, draw something else. And I’m still shook how you did those 5 character studies in pen without doing any pencil first!! Seeing them again in this tour, I am just blown away by your natural talent AND the time and effort you spend developing your natural talent.

Your journey is golden, because to me it's lifelike, inspiration takes us further and even details create meaningful impact and seeing this sketchbook tour melted my weekend because I needed company while I organised my closet again. Excited to stumble upon your page! I go in and out of major seasons of drawing, my last was while I studied design in art school. I drew so much, started to develop a style and was getting quite good but it’s been about 4 years since I graduated and I haven’t done much drawing since the pandemic.
Anyways, during that time. I was a waitress and started doodling with bic pens often during slow hours. The pens made their way into my sketchbook and I eventually found myself with a multi color pen and loved using the red and blue
This is a long winded way of saying that I love to see luscious paintings and marker renderings throughout others and my own sketchbook, but some of my favorite spreads to look back on were studies I did in ball point and your style incorporates that look so beautifully. As I venture back into art for the first time in so long, it’s inspiring me to lean into this underrated medium

One thing I love about your people studies, is the diversity, you dont ever have a go to face or shape that you draw ( apart from your own lol), you can really tell your appreciation for unique physical characteristics.

I think we use the word "sketch" differently, dear.
Sketches can look different. The outcome and the appearance depend on an artists skill. Sketches are just loose, quick drawings/paintings but those obviously look different from a beginner than an advanced artist.
I agree. Jess is a great artist and her sketches look ‘finished’ not like my quick sketches.
Every artist is free to sketch however they enjoy with love , thanks for watching :) !
