BOEING 747 Packs off TAKEOFF. Max weight!! Closing the A/C packs increase engines power.

  • Air condition packs use to pressurize and control the temperature in the Airplane.
But ..the air flow for the packs comes from the engine compressors. taking this air from the engines, reducing max power available for takeoff.
On a very heavy TAKEOFF, when performances are limited,
A packs off takeoff might be needed
Must not forget to reopen packs after takeoff ...
Great takeoff and cockpit management by the F/O sh-ko

I was fortunate. My first car was a 1974 Ford Custom 500. It was a PA state police car that was bought at auction by my neighbor. It was painted Grass Green and still had the spotlight mount on it. I bought it for $600. Everything worked incl A/C that I NEVER had to turn off..bc it had a 400 big block police interceptor motor. Plenty of HP to power anything needed! 😁
