You don’t recirculate after backwash. You backwash 1 minute, rinse 45 seconds and return to filter.
Why did you recirculate after backwashing? That’s a no-no. 🤷♂️
Actually step one is never get a pool. Use someone else's.

Never recirculate after backwashing you have to rinse before you put it on recirculate.
I’ve researched and have learned that recirculate is usually for circulating chemicals. It makes sense so your chemicals don’t immediately go into the filter. They just recirculate mainly when dealing with an algae problem.

It's indeed useless as this step just bypasses the filter completely and sends the water from the pump directly to your pool. Circulate is only useful when you want some chemical you just added to mix quickly in your pool.
@@Peter-Alexander it has its uses. My filter is currently leaking DE back into the pool. Waiting on the parts to fix so running the pool on recirculate to keep water moving and not stagnant. But the uses are definitely limited.

I'm not a fan of System 3 filters.
Who ever thought "Hey, why just have only 1 tank clamp when we can put on SIX of them!"
The larger tanks have 8 clamps!
I call them the System 3 Wrist-Breaker.

Peace of mind knowing its shut, have always installed them on new installs with hard plumb backwash lines

@@nagel133 what about in two years when the sun fades the glass and clear pvc. Done it all. 2 way valve best way to go 👌
What about when the lifeguard forgets to open the waste valve when they backwash? Overpressurized filter and blew out multiport. Just happened to us. From now on leaving that waste valve open when pool is opened in the spring. I’ve confirmed it doesn’t leak when in filter mode.
Gteat job bit its actually how to backwash a pool filter, which cleans the filter media inside that dome shaped piece of equipment, which is the pool filter assembly. But anyway most people dont do this until the filter is clogged and wont let water threw it
Exactly the Henry homeowner backwash I would expect from someone with that turd burglar filter and a Hayward variable speed pump. Good on you for teaching your kid though.

Usually if there is a bad spider gasket in the multi-port they will put that in
if you still have a filter that you have to backwash you are living in the 80's. Just like if you s tll have a sand filter.

Putting all of that nasty water back into the pool... You rinse after backwash, that gets all of the crap the sand has in it, out of the sand filter....
