For all those struggling with PSI starting high. Keep cleaning your DE filter (open it and wash out the DE) then reply the recommended portion. Repeat the cleaning process everyday until that PSI drops to where it used to be when it was fine.
Also very important to keep your water well balanced with all the chemicals while cleaning the DE.
I had to clean my DE filter 9 times to finally see it drop from 22 to 16PSI. I still clean it every 2 weeks.

Excellent video... I actually took the filter apart and sprayed the inside with the hose and all the fingers till they were nice and white but still it started off with a pressure reading of 18

You may need to acid bath the tube nest - possible CL Bath in 55 gallon drum

@@flohrpools8687 Can't you simply give it a bath inside the lower filter housing? Perfect fit, like on a Hayward EC50.

@@warriordugan7236 Thanks for the comment- yes Hayward does have a wand that you can insert in the drain area. It shoots the water up on the tube nest. Wand works well. If it is very dirty that would be a good choice. We don't find a lot of people using them. Thanks Again

The large washer is probably a weight that hold down a check valve (gravity) when the pump is off= in the fall you probably thing about replacing the check valve- it is in the in take to the filter after the pump-- if your unit has a union between the pump and the filter is will to the right of this union The check valve keeps the DE from settling backwards when the pump is off.

why does the de powder go into my pool when I first put it on? Why does this happen & how can I solve it? Also, I noticed a small clear hose on your filter system. What was this? Thank you for a great video.

Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks! Also is that a flow sensor coming off the fittings between the pump and the filter? Might steal that idea!

Does the handle need to be in a certain position when running? Or does it move where it needs to be on its own?

Hello! Without seeing pictures and just having the description, it sounds like it is the Check Valve from your DE Filter. If you have any questions or would like to send pictures you can to hwitherow@flohrpools.com and we will help you the best, we can!
