Thank you awesome video any more videos you have of this particular lowrance Hook 7 I'm interested in learning more I will say you showed on the left side how to set everything and I wish you would have show everything on the right hand side maybe you can do a video on the other side I'm just going to leave my settings like you leave them it will help me start to learn .
Im still learning how to use my Lowrance 7. I have been trying to get the the grid line that runs across the middle of my GPS screen it runs up and down and side to side. can you help me thank you so much for this video .Greg Reilly
I have heard stories that the map lags. Now that you have had the unit for awhile and I assume you have had it in the water! what is your review on the performance of this unit?
Great video! 1 question for you. Can I use the Navionics chip that I currently have in my Humminbird unit in this Lowrance unit?
A lot of the chips by Navionics will work in both, it will not hurt anything to try
One more question for chart always reverts to LivPro16 always on start up. Choices are LivPro16, Navionics or Lowrance. I would like it to stay on Navionics for Chart.
This is what I needed. I just got my Hook installed so now I'll take my ipad out to my boat in the garage and go through my settings....with your instruction. Your audio could be just a tad more clear. It's not bad, just a constructive comment. Thanks again! Subscribed :)
Moondog9322 I have been working on lighting and sound. I have tried wired and wireless mics but the echo in the garage always wins.
Ok, I am still reviewing your videos to get the best settings for my use. I fish Lake Erie most often....40-80 FOW. Walleye and perch. Which settings do you recommend? I have mine on medium chirp. Fast ping speed. Again, thanks so much!

Great video man, I just install the Hook5 on my kayak, took it twice offshore and I'm trying to get familiar with it..
Would you use hight or medium chirp in between 100' and 350' offshore

KAYAK FISHING ZONE I would first make sure that your setting for deep water, then I would probably run medium chirp unless the bait come to the surface

2 questions...
1:Do you recommend having sidescan on a kayak? Not sure if it is necessary since I fish only inshore (Texas lakes/rivers)
2: If you use the nocqua battery 10ah how long does it last with your hook 7?

I switch from the Gen 1 Hook 7" to a Gen 1 9" Ti just to get side scan and it has helped to locate structure. The 10ah battery would last about 6-7 hours for me but when I went to the side scan unit I upgraded to a lawnmower battery to get more hours out of it. It will last 12-14 hours of continuous use.
I appreciate the video. Great job explaining. I cannot seem to find the down scan option in the menu. I have worked on this and worked on it but I cannot find it. Any help you can offer I would appreciate greatly.
Old comment I know… but my issue is similar. My unit clearly says hook 7…. But I do NOT have all the options he does in the menu. I just spent about 3 different time sessions… each one till I was about to scream out of frustration….. calm down a while… go back and try again… get upset again. I simply cannot find anything whatsoever for ping, and chirp type.. frequency. I have VERY limited sonar options. Basically water depth -and overlay. Sooo frustrated
@@Remo22Mod sorry for your frustration. I’m guessing there must be a different transducer that will open up the downscan option. It’s been frustrating to me as well.

It does not have that ability what you’re referring to or asking about is a function of the Garmin units that have active Capt. capability

Colin Hulke you just set the depths that you want it set at under the settings in the chart menu.

AR FISHING I like to turn it on after I got in an area I like and make my first pass through an area like an edge.
B3, I just saw your green LED video. do you use the same battery for both lights and sonar? If so what is the size of the battery? Thanks,
Rick Remmler I run the GPS and the lights under the screen on one battery, deer feeder battery. The cockpit lights and green lights are on a separate battery that is the same as the other.
Thanks B3, Not sure what a deer feeder battery is, but I'll find out. I'm getting a Coosa HD (had a Coosa) and currently have a small battery I got at Cabelas (can't remember what size and have to run to teach Hunter Ed right now). I'll figure it out. Thanks for the reply! rr

do you know of a way to reduce and enlarge the screen while using screens split? I would like to set up 2D and down scan side by side but have the down scan screen larger the the 2d.
Phil once you are on the 50/50 screen you like hit the power button and you will get a pop up that has the spilt adjustments

I have hook 7 on the way, it comes with a Nautica card. will that be of any use to me? I mainly fish Rivers here.
Mike Greenwell I fish rivers as well. I know putting the card in and leaving it turned on will not hurt. Maybe there will be some info about the river you are on. I do recognize that river bottoms are always changing.

Very simple question, if I drop a waypoint at the launch, and name it launch, can i use the first page, the compass to follow a line back to,the launch say in white out fog to get back? I never created a waypoint yet. Thanks
Bad Dog so if you drop a waypoint and then hit go to waypoint it will be as the bird flies. If you want to leave a trail to follow in white out conditions start a route. Then name it. Then follow the route and you will get the compass like you would when driving a vehicle

I would check the settings for type of fishing, example freshwater, saltwater or ice fishing. Then make sure you have the right sonar selected. Lastly play with the gain

If you are referring to the first time there is power to the unit, I set mine for: English, US Statue, degrees in F, Shallow water and start with everything in Auto and adjust the rest on the water.
Can you put a software upgrade and GPS Rollover patch on the same micro sd card to update at the same time?
You would download the software update on a blank card put that in, do the update and then remove and go back to a map card
I have the Hook 7, in split screen chart-sonar chart is about 4" wide fishfinder about 3" wide. Can you reverse so sonar is wider in split screen? Than chart. Thank you

how do I set waypoint on hook 7 tripleshot?
frank hobgood there will be a flag button you cannot and it will mark the boat location or use the arrow keys and scroll to a spot and hit enter. You will know you did it right when it asks you if you want to save it.
is the sensitivity on when u see the x or is it off

does this fish finder show the speed of travel ?
Yes. That information can be set as overlay data, this way you can see it on all of your screens.
I wish you would have gone over the trace or trail setting which shows the red or orange line so one could back track where one started
So basically as soon as you turn the graph on and it finds your location you will start leaving a trail anywhere you go. If you want to set a known trail go into trails and set new and you’ll see it start to track

So I would set the unit up for deep water. Go to the sonar page then hit menu and then go down to the fishing type, select deep water. I would run the 80khz sonar and the 288 frequency for the down imaging. The gain and surface clarity will be changed on a day to day depending on what the water is like.

I have sonar set at auto. Inn 7 feet of water the sonar scale is 6 feet to 8 feet. In the lower left it shows “4x” which I assume is 4x zoom. How do I adjust this to show no zoom so the scale would be 0 feet and 8 feet.
While on Sonar only screen just hit the minus button

How do you do a reset on the hook7?
scott tillman go to the settings under menu, all the way to the bottom there is a rest option. It will make you confirm a couple times. This will make your gps appear as it did brand new out of the box. All factory settings.
how to you show time on the screen?
If you go to menu and select data overlay you will get little drop down menus that you can add info to the screen. Check the box with time. This works for water temp, depth, speed, volts and others.

I can't get it to use FATHOMS. I change it to US NAUTICAL from US STANDARD and nothing changes. It will change to metric.
fishboat you have to change feet to fathoms on your measurements. You will find it under the option of US nautical and US Standard
I still can't see my screen in the day nor find brightness. It's on my HDS 7, but not the Hook?
Steve Liles just push the power button a couple times and it will cycle through the different levels of brightness

Under settings, then system and then scroll down till you find it
How do you get water temp to display
WHEN YOU ARE ON THE SCREEN THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE WATER TEMP DISPLAYED, HIT THE POWER BUTTON ONCE. THEN YOU WILL SEE A POP UP THAT SAYS EDIT OVERLAY, SELECT THAT. ON THE RIGHT SIDE YOU WILL SEE ADD, THEN GO IN AND SELECT WATER TEMP.
I'm contemplating buying one of these but I've heard they loose bottom and have lag in the map a lot. Is this true?
I never have had a problem loosing bottom but the maps do lag when zooming in and out. I never use the maps enough for it to bother me.

When I put my sensor on auto it clutters the screen..I fish in the delta..brackish water what should I do
I am guessing you are adjusting your sensitivity, I keep turning mine down until everything starts to disappear. Then I will slowly turn back up until I spot fish.
I have the same unit and I hit a button and now it doesn't show my water temp on the screen and I don't no how to get it back
Once you’re powered up and on the screen that you want to look at hit the power button once, you’ll see a menu pop-up look for edit overlay. You can turn everything on and off there and control the size and placement.

Great video. I just purchased a Hook 9 and wonder if all the features of the Hook7 are the same, with the only difference being
the screen size. Also I have an Elite 5 with an Navionics card which works fine in the Elite 5 but when placed in the Hook 9' the unit does work with it.
Paul Kinney the 9" just has a larger screen. The reason the chip is not working could be a software issue. New software in the 9" and old software on the card to work with the 5"
