Welcome to the VoicePlay Cinematic Universe: the MadMax/Post Apocalyps serie.
You can also find the Viking serie (My Mother Told Me; Vahalla Calling),
and the Pirate serie (Hoist The Color, Wellerman, Drunken Sailor).
There is also the Kidnapped serie (3/4 song, don't remember which, but one is part1 & part2)

Huh. I'm 65 and I totally get it. The post-apocalyptic theme, the survivalist-warrior attitude. And I recognized all the songs, just because I listen to the radio now and then. But maybe you haven't seen VoicePlay do other styles? They do Disney and other movie and theater music, especially, and often in costume and makeup.

I love hearing real pros, singers who aren't just winging it. Same for the arrangements. That comes from skill and knowledge. So great.

In the first one the Warriors are returning to a post-apocalyptic world, hoping to be included in a normal world. There's still some innocence as they ask to be included. In Dream On they know there is no 'normal' world, the past is gone. Sadness/grief for what has been lost. In the final one they're now "normalized" in an emotionally flat world of fighting all comers. This is now the way they live. What matters is winning the next fight.

Clearly it's been rough going...by the time they get to Seven Nation Army, they've lost two of their own, then one of the new friends they picked up along the way, and they've replaced him too. ETA: We don't know what actually caused the Apocalypse, but the crazy sounds they're making in SNA lead me to wonder if they've become whatever they were fighting!

This is their post apocalyptic series.
Warriors is when Layne got his nickname VioLayne. He also played it in Nothing Else Matters and The Lion Sleeps Tonight.
Voiceplay and Geoff released their new videos on their Patreons Wednesday. They will be on CZcams this weekend.
Voiceplay's is "Out of this world". Geoff's is wickedly beautiful.

Warriors was their first time looking post-apocalyptic, later came Dream On, in a similar style, then Seven Nation Army with a similar look. All filmed in abandoned buildings, in a certain tough guy style. And doesn't it suit them? Here's a new name for you, a more recently discovered singer, English, Sam Ryder. He's got a great voice, and a great personality. And great hair too!

  • @bjspeck4337

Today at noon, Geoff is dropping his new video - Wicked Game. It's the post-apocalyptic setting for all 3 of the songs, the ruined buildings, the costuming.

  • @reneleroux7669
    @reneleroux7669 Před 5 měsíci +1

I've watched most of their videos, because I love everything they do. And, I didn't really understand the "trilogy" theme either. Yes, they dress up similarly and perform in abandoned buildings. But, that was it. Another rabbit hole you might end up in is the bass singer's (Geoff "Jeff" Castellucci) solo channel. He does some amazing work.

  • @JillPeterson-dr6ox
    @JillPeterson-dr6ox Před 6 měsíci +2

These are more fan trilogy based as they all seem to portray Post Apoplectic forms oe filmed in an abandoned warehouse the second at Eli's old school and the third in an empty department store (in the same complex where Patty Cake Productions is located)
Warrior was originally done by Imagine Dragons. They actually have quite a few good songs you might want to check out.
Its always good to rotate what you listen to or it might get boring. Other reactors also review movies or games.
When you come back I'm recommending the Kidnaping series from Voiceplay (they'll make more sense)
Trapped in 3 Minutes by Billie Eilish
Panic at the Disc in 4 Minutes (part 1&2)
Queen in 5 Minutes (not really part of the series but it makes a good conclusion (you'll understand more afterwards))
Stay safe 😊 and find the joys in life 😄

The order here is just release order; the thing these videos have in common is mainly setting (abandoned buildings) and, to go along with that, the distressed outfits. The songs themselves... well, they're all rock songs, so there's that.
Other stuff that's good to check out if you are not already familiar with it:
    * Bloodywood. Indian folk metal (but about half the lyrics are in English, and the rest is open-captioned in English). Start with either Aaj or Gadaar.
    * The Warning. Hard rock band, three sisters, very talented.
    * Weird Al Yankovic. Musical comedy. He does a lot of parodies but also has original songs. Start with one that's a parody of a song you like.
    * Babymetal. A fusion of metal and kids' j-pop, which doesn't sound great, but it actually works really well. Start with either the Live in Japan recording of Road to Resistance, or the original music video for Dokidoki Morning.
    * Ray Stevens. Musical comedy. Start with either Mississippi Squirrel Revival, or Sitting up with the Dead.
    * Halestorm. I Am the Fire.
    * Namewee. Musical satire. Most of his lyrics are in Mandarin, but open-captioned in Malay and English. Start with Fragile ("It Might Break Your Pinkie Heart").
    * Abbot & Costello. Comedy. Start with Who's On First.

@@_Tine_90 Yeah, but I meant the ones where Voiceplay themselves are kidnapped. Billie Eilish and Panic At The Disco parts 1&2. Oh, and Mission Impossible Jingle Bells! I subscribe to the theory that that was a trial run on the villain's part. Some years ago I also put forth the idea that Queen In Five Minutes comes after PATD part 2, with Earl having been caught in the blast.

As you are switching things up, may I suggest that you do some kind of rotation. Some of us (me) have limited interests. As you bring in other artists, say Elvis Presley, you will find different subscribers. If you rotate through, adding some, hearing those you've already heard, your audience will grow much faster than if you stick to one artist for a lengthy period.

I’m sure you are confused about these songs being a set. Voiceplay never meant them to be connected. There is no continuous story line, just the avid imagination of some fans.
They did, however, make the Panic in Four Minutes as one story video, then because of some obscure CZcams rules at the time had to break it in two parts. So the part 2 is only a minute long and finishes the story. A year later, they filmed a prequel to it, Trapped:Billie Eillish in 3 Minutes. So it can be good to react to that one first and then the 2 Panics videos. (Some fans will try to add other videos to these also, but Voiceplay only says these three are linked. )
But since unfortunately you aren’t going to be doing more Voiceplay it’s a moot point.

The setting for these songs is post-apocalyptic, each later in time than the previous one. They not so much telling a story, I don't think, just further down the line in a fallen society. Notice how the fifth person changed with every video? Zombies got 'em! I was going to recommend Home Free's wonderful Stargazer Trilogy for a story being told, but since you're moving on from a cappella...
