    That reminds me of my last trip to Universal Studios Orlando. I was like 2-3 loads away from getting to ride the velocicoaster when the rider operators pulled a bunch of high school students off and held them there. They were using a hand held metal detector to search them and reviewing the footage from the ride. After the ride was shut down and I was walking to the next attraction, I could see some employees walking the ride, presumably looking for something that had fallen or to see if there were any causes for concern.
    I never did get to ride the ride as the next day, it was closed again, but it was rather annoying that some student doing something stupid led to a bunch of visitors wasting a bunch of time in line for nothing. We did get passes, but you don't get the time back.

    As one who wants to work at Disneyland someday, I find these stories as good in-site to what to expect. I've had many stories from my cousins and family who've work at Disneyland for the past few years, so I'm excited to hear more karma of people who deserve it. Also, I hope that girl who you couldn't find the pin to give to will find this video out of luck.

      You gotta imagine, though… the other kids from that high school that were following the rules (and maybe weren’t even on the same ride) had to be ticked off at their classmates. Their trip got cut short and they lost all that money, just because of some knucklehead prank. Yes, I agree it was dangerous. But what about the kids that weren’t a part of it? 😢 I’d be devastated. Hopefully the ones not involved were able to appeal their bans.

      @@ambermac77 The ones not involved did not get personal bans. The students involved got personal bans, and the school got banned from doing any group trips there (including future graduating classes). The other students can still go on their own, with family, etc. Just not with school.

    I opened the Disney-MGM studios. We had a large number of Brazilian tour companies in the park wearing their matching shirts and following their leader with a flag. They were in the cue for Monster Sound Show and were plotting, in Portuguese, to jump the railings and run into the show when the doors opened instead of waiting their turn. We called security, who came quickly and stood away so they were not noticed. When we opened the doors, we immediately closed them again as the group of 50-60 jumped the railings. Security rounded them up as the other guests clapped. They were trespassed and the your company was banned from Disney Parks. Doesn’t really do anything because they just change the name of their company and come back.
    A friend and former cast member once wore a shirt the same color and got a flag. Walked into the middle of one of these groups snd raised his flag. Half the group followed him off a different direction. Drop the flag and you have 30 lost people disconnected from the rest of their group. The Brazilian groups were the most obnoxious groups in the park, far worse than the high schools. They even trashed their hotel rooms regularly and were banned from most resorts in the area after a short time.

      Thinking about doing a video talking about large groups at Disney. I actually spent 3 summers working as a travel counselor, where I was responsible for managing 50 middle-school-age kids in a variety of public places. We never went to Disney specifically, but plenty of Six Flags and Cedar Fair parks. I think I could give some interesting insight from all three sides (guest, cast member, leader of large group).

    The usual and unfair part of a school getting banned, it's usually not the brats that get banned, it's the year after them. Unless you specifically ban those students and only those students it's not real fair.

    • @backstagethoughts
      @backstagethoughts  Před 9 měsíci

      You're right, it's not fair for the students, but it does make sense from Disney's perspective. They don't care that the future classes didn't do anything wrong; they just know that the school's staff has proven that they do not know how to adequately supervise and control their students. It's not about punishment, it's about avoiding an irresponsible institution.

    • @SmallSpoonBrigade
      @SmallSpoonBrigade Před 4 měsíci

      @@backstagethoughts I would assume that was the justification. It's tough because the chaperones can't be on every single ride with the students, so ensuring discipline can be rather touch. I would hope that it wasn't a permanent ban on the school, just for some significant period of time.
      That being said, if they came without shirts, I'm not sure that anybody at Disney would know.

    1) I hope the little kid peeing in the bushes didn’t get banned, he was probably too young to know better.
    2) the two of you might not have any celeb stories, but considering how many bands perform and celebrities speak, all around Xmas, plus celebs that might be taking VIP tours: did either of you meet any celebs, and if so, which were the nicest, and which were the meanest/most entitled (same for top Disney execs)? The only celeb I can ever remember meeting was Nichelle Nichols, who was an absolute angel. I’ve heard Dolly Parton and Tom Hanks are both super nice, and Jeremy Renner can be a bit of an *ssh*l*.
    (I’d include top Dis execs as celebs)
    3) Did you ever run across any characters or princesses in private who were like “I hate those little f*ck*rs!” (Don’t name names, but name characters. I would LOVE for some of the villains to be like that lol.)
    4) Did you guys ever get to eat at any sit down restaurants, and if so do you have favorites? (Sanaa and Boma look amazing!). Or is there an underground cast cafeteria where you eat for free (or at least hopefully super inexpensive)?

    • @backstagethoughts

      1. He wasn't. That whole thing was just so unexpected and happened so quick lol.
      2. I met JoJo Siwa. I talk about that in another video on this channel. That's it though. And Kenzie didn't meet any celebrities.
      3. Cinderella cut me in line at the Mouseketeria (cafeteria in the Utilidor) once.
      4. Yes, although there are a good amount we haven't eaten at, so can't give a complete assessment. I agree that Boma is great. Never been to Sanaa unfortunately. My favorite is probably Le Cellier Steakhouse, but it's hard to choose. Kenzie is at work, but I know she likes Coral Reef Restaurant a lot. Not sure if that is her favorite, though. Nowhere that cast members can eat for free. Magic Kingdom has a cafeteria in the Utilidor with decent prices. There's a Subway and a grill. Meal from the grill was usually like $3-$4. It's nothing too exciting. I would eat there occasionally, but usually I brought my own food. I'm not sure about other parks and locations.

    • @backstagethoughts
      @backstagethoughts  Před rokem +10

      My best guess is that because they were there on a school trip, they weren’t just acting as individuals, they were acting as representatives of the school. Sure, those individual students are responsible for their own actions, but ultimately the school and their staff are supposed to be supervising the students, and also share responsibility for any actions of the students under their supervision. The school demonstrated that they are not capable of ensuring that their students behave, and I would assume that is why the school is no longer allowed to do senior trips there.

    • @backstagethoughts
      @backstagethoughts  Před rokem +10

      @@TheDailySwift If Disney's stance is that the school isn't capable of controlling their students, then that's an institutional issue that extends beyond the students that are currently enrolled in the school. It's an issue with the school itself and the school's staff, not just the students, which is why the ban would apply to the entire school.
      To clarify, the students at that school are still allowed to go to the parks as individuals (by themselves, with family or friends, etc). The school is just banned from going as a group. The only students that received personal bans and are not allowed at Disney parks in any capacity are the ones that left the boats during the ride.

    • @backstagethoughts
      @backstagethoughts  Před rokem +5

      Sure, it sucks for the school's younger students that won't have the chance to go in the future (despite being innocent), but the issue isn't just with the few students that broke the rules. They were acting as representatives of the school, on a school-related trip. The school and their staff are supposed to be supervising the students, and also share responsibility for any actions of the students under their supervision. The school demonstrated that they are not capable of ensuring that their students behave. It makes sense that Disney would not want to allow a school back that has proven that it cannot control its students.
      I actually worked as a travel counselor at a summer camp for three years. We went all sorts of places, including plenty of amusement parks and water parks. If one of my campers were to do something wrong at any of the places that we went, it would not just be their fault, but also my fault, my coworkers' faults, and my bosses' faults. Their misbehavior would have meant that I had not done my job correctly, and that my bosses had not trained me correctly. The campers knew this, and we drilled into their brains everywhere we went that they need to be respectful of the places that we go. It's unfortunate for future graduating classes that won't have the opportunity to go, but I totally understand where Disney is coming from.

    Your comments and statements can get you sued that many of the highschools have taken up lawyers and sought prosecution.

    • @backstagethoughts
      @backstagethoughts  Před rokem +6

      Prosecution is for criminal law, not civil law. There are no prosecutors in a civil lawsuit. Also, I didn't name the school. So it can't be defamation against the school if no one even knows what school I am talking about. ALSO also, it is only defamation if the statements are false. Which they are not. ALSO ALSO also, assuming it's a public high school, all of its funding would come from taxes. So it wouldn't be able to prove any damages, since any defamatory statements (if they did exist) would not lead to a loss of income. ALSO ALSO ALSO also, in order for it to be defamation, I would've had to act with actual malice. Meaning they would have to prove that I meant to cause damages to the school.
