  • Tommy tells two stories this time. First, he tells the story of the time that he was cursed out by an old man in a wheelchair. Then, he discusses a woman that somehow managed to get a red wheelchair tag to put on a stroller for her dog.

As someone who has gone through the queue at Pirates many times with a rollator (walker on wheels), I thank you and all the cast members who have moved that thing to the unload area for me. I do appreciate the work it takes on the part of the cast member very much. I've always wondered how cast members feel when they have to move mobility devices around. I always feel bad that someone else has to put forth physical exertion on my behalf.

Aw, thank you! We don't mind it at all for people that actually need mobility devices. I'm happy to be able to make the Disney experience as accessible as possible. It's frustrating when people that don't need it abuse the system because certain items (i.e. strollers) are difficult to navigate, but also because it delays the operation for people that do have legitimate mobility issues. There were times where we got so backed up that we had people waiting at unload for their wheelchairs because we simply couldn't get them all there fast enough, which made me feel awful. That issue is exacerbated by people like the dog lady.
I appreciate your appreciation, and don't ever feel bad about it :)

I have a feeling that in the case with the dog, at Customer Service, I'm betting that the phrase, "If Not, I Will Sue This Place For All It's Worth!!" was spoken by the guest Several Times, in order for her to essentially Demand Whatever She Wanted!! And sadly, with the right legal team, she maybe would have had a, (semi-), legitimate case, had things not gone her way, and she felt compelled to try to bring it to court.

I know for fact the POTC NEVER had a boat that had a row for a wheelchair to be placed on the ride vehicle. This is going all the way back to when I first went in 1974 until the present day. We had to actually transfer my mom who had a stroke in 1992 from her wheelchair or ECV to the boat like you do on Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan, etc. until she no longer could transfer in 2015. Then she had to wait for us at the ride exit.

I don't know who I feel worse for: you or that poor dog with an owner who makes it wear a tiara and go on Disney rides.

Several years ago, I've seen a couple pushing a stroller, like the one you described, around a cruise ship. I was thinking that maybe they booked this cruise before she got pregnant and decided to bring their newborn aboard. Wrong! It was a dog in the stroller. A little rat dog. I would like to have known how this couple got to bring a dog on board. Definitely not a service animal if they were pushing it around in a stroller. What I want to know is where did the dog do its business?

See, in that particular case, if the cast member at Greeter/Mast had a radio on them or was near a phone to call into the cast members further down the queue, I would have done Exactly That, contacted ahead, to let them know, "I Just Got Blown-Off By A Wheelchair Guest That May Not Be Able To Transfer, And They're Coming Your Way!!"

That woman's dog stroller would get kicked all the way to it's resting place ... it would definitely have a few lumps and I would feel so much better. I can't help but feel sorry for the dog having to live with such a nut-job.

Try being a Custodial Host/Hostess. There was an "incidence" in a Guest Restroom in one of the theme parks at WDW. An elderly male guest had an "accident" in an on stage restroom. Needless to say $h!t WAS EVERYWHERE! Medics had to 'spring' the door so it could swing outward to get the male gues out. If memory serves me they said he had an Epileptic episode. The Custodial staff had to go into hazmat mode, in protective gear, to clean the Guest Restroom. One hour later, and a wardrobe change for the cleanup crew, the Restroom was ready Guests. Kudos to the Attractions Host/Hostess, you are stuck in your assigned position and cannot leave, unless you are the stroller person (been there done that when I was in Attractions). .
If the "situation" is above your pay grade call a Manager and let them call Guest Relations to pander to the Guests. After all they did create the slippery slope you are on.
