  • Laleston is a village and a community in Bridgend County Borough, south Wales, directly west of Bridgend town centre. The village takes its name from the Norman Lageles family who settled in the area. Buildings of note in the village include St David's Church, which still possesses features dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries, the Great House which was built in the early 16th century and Horeb Welsh Presbyterian Church (1831).

Thank you. I'm in my 70s now, but back in the 1960s/70s {my hippy days} walked through Laleston many times on our way to Porthcawl. Didn't realize how much history we were walking through., I wish I did with history always being a love of mine, would have stopped and taken a closer look had we known. Thank you Taff,

Wundervoll - ich mag die alten, traditionellen Orte sehr gerne - dafür sind wir immer besonders gerne nach GB gereist!

Hi Gwen, thank you for your comment. Was Laleston house the building that burnt down in my video?

      @@taffystravelvideos Hi Taffy
That was Laleston Cottage i believe. Laleston House was a huge house on Wind street, with stables and land. It was all where Church view houses are now. It was a very interesting and historical house. I don’t know if it was a monastery right at the beginning. I believe the tunnel from Great House to St David’s also extended to Laleston House. Wonderful video, thank you for it Taffy 😊😊

@@taffystravelvideos Thanx Taffy. This wasn’t the real Laleston House. I believe the name Laleston House was taken after the real Laleston House was sadly demolished. It was an amazing house, huge with many rooms and bathrooms, an Adams fireplace and beautiful terrace, pond and gardens and adjoining fields for the horses of Laleston House.

The modern replacement for the burnt building is a disgrace showing the degradation of society.
