Oooh I love the Lakes. Diolch Taffy
Great area to visit thanks bonzey
Then and Now, interesting travel around one of Englands most wonderful counties, spoilt today by the countless number of vehicals, I'm sorry to say there was a time, many years ago, when we travelled there by car from our home in Suffolk. Thanks for shareing Taffy.
Thank you for your comment redcap makes me wonder what the traffic will be like in 10years from now.
I liked the doggie at 1:39. These were really good to see, but I'd have stood in the same spot as the old pictures were taken, or, if impossible, cropped them all so they would overlay perfectly. Thank you for sharing these. One of these days I'm going to have to take a trip to Porthcawl as there's a bench there in honour of a friend of mine who dies two years ago. I'd like to see it. We spent most of our biking life in Porthcawl, Barry and Aberavon in the seventies.
Thank you for your comment.
We filmed the street scenes of our film, The other side of the lake, here.
Thanks for your comment, what film was that?
@@taffystravelvideos It was called, The other side of the lake. It wasn't a professional film, but it went on to win awards at film festivals. We filmed in Abbey Street in Cerne Abbas in 2015. A really beautiful quaint village. I wrote the order short story called, Lost Love. An independent film maker in Dorset made a film out of the story and called it the other side of the lake. We used Osmington Mills for smuggling scenes. It was my first time in Dorset as I live in Ireland. It was a ghost/ love story. There us a trailer for it on CZcams. I played a part in the film. I even got to see the Cerne Abbas giant.
Thanks for the info Jim.
@@taffystravelvideos You're welcome. The BBC filmed one of Thomas Hardy's short stories there in the 70s. It was called, The Withered Arm. I went to our film premiere in 2016 in Sturminster Newton. While there, I payed Cerne Abbas a second visit. Thanks for your interest.
Very worthwhile, I have subscribed.

Eine tolle Serie von dir - ich genieße es sehr ! Gruß Konrad.
Vielen Dank Konrad.
I’m a coalminers daughter, my dad was a miner who worked in many pits including Polmaise ( first pit out in the 80s strike, last pit back, should have listened to them) here in Scotland. He died at 63 from pit related illness. I had two great grandfathers that died in pit collapses. 45 years this year and I stand proud having had the pleasure of having a hero of a father. Cut me down the middle and I will be inscribed with ‘Coalminers daughter and proud!✊🏼❤️
Thank you for your comment , my dad worked in the mine in this video. He also died young.
Always a pleasure to see the lost Cornwall....thank you...also can you tell me the lovely haunting backtrack to your video??
Hi Roy, Thank you for your comment. As to the sound track , its called Parting Time , however its only available on my video editing programme.
Very nice presentation. Thanks
Thank you for your kind comment Sian
My great uncle was killed by the White Rose pub on Christmas day back in the 30s. I think of him every time I drive past.
Nice one Taffy. Of all the English towns, I've probably visited Bristol more than any other, it being so close to Wales. It's a neat place, with a lot of interesting architecture. Those shots of Clifton suspension bridge were well cool. I still remember the first time I saw that bridge from the Avon valley below. What an acomplishment that was spanning that chasm, eh? Ismambard Kingdom Brunel did a heck of a job on that one Cheers butt
Thanks again for your comment bonzey.
😇
Always a pleasure. Thank you. 👍
Thank you too!
My grandad was Welsh and took us there as kids , stopped at Rest bay , old miners rest home , not sure if its still there, we loved it , so as i got older and could drive , me and my brother came down from Yorkshire again, this time camping. I will come again one day , now im a grandad lol
Hi capnclogs, thanks for your comment, the miners rest home at Rest Bay is still there however it has been converted to luxury apartments.
@taffystravelvideos seems a shame at least its being used, we stopped in a bungalow in the grounds 50 yards away about 1982 ish.
Righton? I'm 65 years old now. At age 8 years I heard my first English accent: 1968. I went to Mylor Primary School. I got dropped off from the farm one morning and my mates were going mad. They said aliens had lande, killed Esketh Williams and taken over Esketh William's shop! "Hell !!!" Turned out Esketh had retired and people from Birmingham had bought it. Nice people, too. Now, in 2024 I can walk up through Mylor and be damn lucky if I hear a Cornish accent spoke. Seems like a lot more aliens, "Cuckoos", have migrated here, turfed a lot of the local "birds" outa their "nests" . Many stop for 6 months of the year, before flitting off for the remaining 6 months. More of them are roosting here permanently though. 🤔Global "warming" I spect. Bleddy things!🤐
I moved to wales at 13 to be with my dad from my native American Choctaw nation and i live it 🎉 great people great history and culture

Why can’t I invent a Time Machine
Would be great Robert
Nice one Taffy. Good views of all of Aberystwyth from Pen Dinas, lovely place, Aberystwyth. My cousin went to uni there
Thanks bonzey, yes great place, spent a lot of my working life in Aber.
Some miner misstakes, Penzance and Penryn are towns not villages, The Frist and Last House at Lands End was written up as The Frist and Last inn and The Frist and Last inn was written up as The Frist Hotel, do wish whoever did this did their home work and got their facts correcr😢😢
Thanks for pointing out those errors, by the way you misspelt miner misstakes😉
So many memories. Excellent video.
Thank you for your comment Laura.
Towns over in EU keep their charm. Meanwhile, the charming towns in America get torn down and turned into strip malls and highways
There are a few towns not far from me that has the same problem ashton
Cool vid, Taffy. Really enjoyed that, I may need to go see it next time I'm near Bristol
Well worth a visit bonzey
Hi Konrad, Just watched your video , excellent. Colin
