Nicole is in the silliest mood, like a friend at a sleepover when everyone has gone to bed
20 minutes in and I don’t think Nicole has once stopped laughing
I know, I love the vibe in this podcast so much 😂
I love it when Josh says things with a straight face and Nicole cannot keep it together and just cry-laughs.
Apparently Josh forgot that the smartphone era of the iPhone 4 and 5 were much smaller than the smartphones we have now.
Even the 5 and 6 and all the SE's.
The idea that non human biologics are just two dogs made me absolutely lose it 😂
I always wanted a podcast of you too getting baked or drunk.
This will be the cloest we will get. love it
Never say never.
Nicole's edibles started hitting during the recording
I know! She reminded me of someone getting drunk for the first time. I kept expecting her to ask Josh to pause the show so she could lay down until the world stopped spinning. 😂
Cult + Time = Religion. Josh's math lesson for the day 😂
32:46 as someone who works in fast food, we don't refrigerate the prepackaged individual salad dressing packets or ranch cups. The blue cheese cups do have to be refrigerated though. You can also get ranch dip cups at the store and they're in the condiment isle.
My strategy would be a 7 course meal, each course representing a continent, starting with glacier water from Antarctica 😂
This episode lmao. I am going to save it and watch it once every single day for the rest of my life. 😅
i'd listen to josh rant about cults for a podcast
The last great innovation of the true crime genre would be Josh starting the show talking about Jonestown or something, and then going on increasingly wild tangents for hours at a time. And I would listen the hell out of it.
@@groofay precisely, and agreed
I'm not a vegan, but I'd try real hard to convince the aliens to be vegan so they don't realize we taste good.
I just love Nicole, her vibes are immaculate 💖
33:01 My grandma was born in Ames Iowa! So thank you Nicole for loving my grandma too. 🫶😅
Serve them hot bread. Every culture it seems welcomes visitors with bread. Its symbolic and tasty af
"eating something I love"
*giggity*
😂
love you guys and this podcast
Dude the cats don’t taste sugar thing has always vexed me! One of our cats SPECIFICALLY loves sweets, and not just like yogurt. He’ll share a sucker or cake with my kids… one of our cats only eats straight carnivore stuff while the other loves weird people food…
Agreed! I have a cat that if she smells anything sweet, she immediately is there wanting it. I don't give her any because I feel it's not good for them. However, that does not stop her from trying lol.
This podcast just gets more and more unhinged and its fantastic!
i think scientists have been able to guess the probable size of aliens based on the average size/composition of planets we've discovered. if i remember correctly, they're likely to be like 3-4x our size because most planets capable of supporting life(ie having water) are smaller than ours, and the size is inversely connected.
one of my favorite space things to think about is how all our ideas are based on the limited data that we've been able to collect. like the assumption that a planet being capable of supporting life requires liquid water is because that's necessary for all life. the ideas about potential size of aliens are based on the kinds of planets we've seen, and also assumes that we're an outlier because our planet is bigger than most planets.
I just love this podcast. Also I am commenting to let the team know that after trying tabasco brand sriracha I am sold!!! it's very interesting 😂
How does it compare to the green tip Huy Fong Sriracha?
@@cocoapuff_x because I don't live in the US I think I never tried the OG but rather a lot of imitations (unieagle?). I wish I did try it though. The tabasco one is ok but more westernised than all the knockoffs I tried. Meaning it has less funk, which I like
During Josh's aside of an aside of an aside I had the realization - we are so lucky he went into food because of he had chosen evil we'd be in so much trouble😂😂😂
This is the best episode so far tbqh
The answer is simple. You first test what they eat by putting in front of them all kinds of matter that aren't transformed so you make a lineup of : Meat (Raw and cooked), fish (Raw and cooked), seafood (raw and cooked), vegetable, fruit, simple grain, water, milk, minerals (rock), mineral (metal), sillicone, gems, plastic (the simplest form of it), natural gas, wood. (I can't think of anything else but you get the gist).
So if they choose things that are inedible for human well that's it, the experiment stops there.
If they choose things that we eat also, you make another round of testing with transformed food of the same categories they ate from.
For exemple if they ate grain you make them taste breads (all kinds of it) and beer and cakes.
If they ate fruit, you try jams and fruit alcohol like wines.
If they ate meat or fish or seafood you prepare some food with those to test their tolerance to any additive like salt, vinegars, spices, etc
You do that for anything they ate that we also eat.
Then when all testings are done and you know what they eat you make them a Pizza !
Pizza is the most versatile and eaten food in the world. You can make a crust out of ANYTHING, you can put any sauce on it, cheese or no cheese, meats or no meats, veggies or not... even FRUITS (Hi there delicious hawaian pizza). It's a dish you usually share so you can share it with the alien showing them it's not dangerous because you eat it with them.
Pizza is the best food to show an alien (or someone suffering from amnesia) what food is like on earth. It's full of msg, salt, sugars, acid, protein, fermentation... it has everything !!!
100% with Josh on this subject
A family of aliens will survive off of a single cheeze-it
We raised cows when I was a kid and we 100% named them. Mom would say "go down to the freezer and get a pound of Martha". Because my older brother and I had a sick sense of humor and had named one of the cows Martha Stewart.
I can’t say I would’ve ever expected that
39:25 this just made me surprise laugh so hard 😂
this is my favorite episode ever
this is the best podcast yet
20:00 Here's the thing.... If higher life could exist in environments other than Earthlike, then we'd have higher lifeforms on each of the planets in Earth's solar system., but we don't. We may have microorganisms that exists on each planet, but not higher life, like animals and insects.
Born and raised Chicagoan here ☺️
Windy City comes from the "Windy Politicians" back in the early 20th c
A red dwarf is a type of star
I thought it was the nice words for them midges on The Wizard of Oz.
Love the irony of the ad being for an online therapist while Josh actively says earlier in the episode that the internet and online connects have made people lonelier than ever. XD
19:32 THATS MY TOWN. SHOUT OUT Beer is okay. Lmao
Prometheus was classic Ancient Aliens, which is another reason to kick that show to the curb
Yow. I think this may be the weirdiest, funniest pod yet.
I like the interpretation of "Signs" as a kind of allegory for grief and loss, not as a straightforward invaders-from-outer-space tale. (The underlying narrative concerns a pastor disenchanted with his faith after the sudden death of his wife.)
In this way, the water represents a cleansing or rebirth from doubt and fear, which is represented by the aliens and the literal darkness of the final act.
The movie is definitely a slow burn but ultimately quite inspiring 😌
Nicole asked Josh if he was high... I think she was deflecting lmao.
Haven’t finished the episode as I write ( 11:07 ), but I feel like rice+a root veggie+ aromatics +beans/lentils/protein and probably a stew/curry style - when i think about the foods of the world and the best rep a dish should be simple, everyone has to have access to ingredients or subs for them, and gotta make you feel warm and bring you back to a happy moment
Such a fun topic, love the podcast and channel!
The Aliens will probably want to taste the "Andean Mountain" special, AKA raw butt cheek cold cuts.
Nicol there's a graphic novel version of Sapiens which is really great.
Love that he mentions Kurt Vonnegut... one of the most influential authors in my life!!! SLAUGHTERHOUSE 5 blew my whole thought process out the window =) This will actually be my first podcast that I have watched.... ever! WELL, besides when Russel Brand interviewed Vandana Shiva =)
my cat absolutely can taste sweet stuff. when she steals pancakes, she only steals pieces that have syrup.
@8:12 - “What a tweest!”
Chicken eggs are the same as our eggs, Nicole, he’s telling the truth 🤣
See, while I don't think Signs is a good movie, the idea 'the aliens are stupid for going somewhere that's all water' doesn't hold up when we're constantly aiming to go places where we can't even breathe. It's no more stupid than us going to the moon or mars.
Steven Spielberg wanted to use M&Ms in the ET movie and M&M would not approve it. They did not want them using the image so he went with Reeses pieces, who did approve.
29:15 😂😂😂
8:03 There was a fan theory I saw way back saying those creatures were demons rather than aliens and the daughter was anointed.
The best part of the episode is when Nicole talked about cultivating mass 💪
Nicole projecting "are you high?" to Josh is peak comedy.
Yes children listen. I listen first before letting my 6 yr old son listen in the car just to make sure it's appropriate. If not, I tell him you guys were sick that week and there's no new episodes
On the other end of the "know your food" spectrum, my kiddo thought hot dogs were made of dogs until she was 4 or 5 🤣
You two make a persons weekend . Hilarious duo
As far as space travel, warp drive is mathematically possible to travel faster than the speed of light in a way. Miguel Alcubierre warp drive. NASA is actually working on this.
The day that I learned a wheelbarrow didn't come from "wheel barrel," is the day that broke my brain.
Would double down corn dog be 1/2 hot dog and then cornbread and then the other half hot dog? Still on a stick?
It's not a matter of if he is, it's a matter of the dosage 😂
Upon further listening, josh 125mg but probably has a higher tolerance, Nicole 50mg but she doesn't usually do weed
Most eggs you get at the store are unfertilized, a chicken will still make eggs without a rooster, its kinda like a chicken period.
Aliens are just the Lost 10 Tribes in disguise.
i think the only other podcast ep i've ever seen go this off the rails was Conan interviewing Harrison Ford
after a long debate, weve come to the conclusion a hotdog is not a sandwich, it is a sausage
Corn, dude. Everything is made from corn. Drink a Coke? Corn. Rice is a close second, though.
On the topic from Voicemail 4: You forgot about Yellow Deli. Also, surprised that this episode is still up after calling Landmark a cult (because they are SUPER litigous and one of my other favorite podcasts has a couple of early episodes that had to be taken down/never aired because of them).
LOVE FROM RENO NEVADA!!!!!!!!!
Atheism is a belief system, we believe in science and reason
Mythical team - requesting a thumbnail frame or title flair for ""podcast"" format episodes. I like them! But sometimes its sad to be disappointed hoping josh i finally going to cook alien food
I agree about keeping sauce packets of course, but is it just me or is everywhere getting really stingy with the sauce packets?
Yes they are stingy af lol just corporates holding onto every last cent they'll never spend
It always catches me off guard when people don’t understand eggs and stuff like that, as someone who has hens and horses and 100 acres I forget that people literally don’t ever see this side of the food system.
And no there’s no rooster needed for eggs, hens do just lay eggs every day or so depending on weather ex. It’s one of those domestication trade offs, they give us eggs and we spend time, money and lost sleep on making them as comfy as possible to get those eggs. Just like with dairy cows who do you think is really putting in the work here?
in 2011 I worked up the nerve to order a double-down, they're like "it's gonna be 30 minutes, they're in the fryer" and I'm like nah....this is a message. And that's how I survived 2011.
The best alien meat comes from slow cooking on a smoker for 12-16 hours depending on size.
Hi from Oz!!
Theyre just a couple good ol boys never meanin no harm
Biologics from advanced civs wont be particularly interested in how or what we eat. They would think of our food the same way we think of how ants eat.
Josh seems like the weird one but Nicole is the one who believes aliens have been on earth since 1911 😂
The 1911 is what got me 😂
Is the planet a soup? You have water, salt, things in it.
Awesome podcast Josh.
Nicole's theory 7+ foot tall rock eating aliens makes sense. In the length of time for a species to evolve space flight, they would have eaten their planet to half it's density which in turn would decrease gravity allowing the increased height.
Food with zero water/moisture, but also very delicious….Popeye’s biscuits. 😂
Josh, less than half of a percent of the yearly US budget is used on NASA. We were able to start up and/or inspire satellite trades, the moon landing, rovers on multiple planets. Imagine how we're screwing up the budget so much that we spend billions on that with such a small percent of our budget, and how we could solve our education and health problems with a similar size of budget and effort. It shows us what we Can do with a small amount of effort from each of us.
This episode has big smosh energy
Well space is cold water freezes they couldnt contain water without freezing like us in extreme temps or boiling oooohhh Nichole so smart lol
Can you guys PLEASE get CoryxKenshin on "Last Meal"? I promise it will absolutely blow up. The samurai are so starved for Cory these days 😫
Ok...I came here from audible even though the episode isn't up yet here...but I just wanted to say...wait...they charge by the wing there? I'm pretty sure every place here charges by the weight of the wings (I'm in Ontario Canada). That being said, who actually weighs the wings that they're getting to prove the weight is right and how do we know most of the weight is not bones anyway? Lol. This is in reference to the Buffalo wild Wings vs Wingstop debate. Anyway...back to my paused podcast I go. Lol. Love you guys.
NICOLE WHEN YOU SAID YOU LOVED LESLIE HALL MY JAW DROPPED I KNEW I LOVED YOU BUT THAT JUST SEALED THE DEAL
back 2 back palz is ALWAYS on my spotify wrapped
I feel like knowing the name of the animal defeats the purpose for most people. If I saw a name I wouldn’t buy it. Then it’d just be a dead animal that’s not being used to sustain humans. Also, if you’re someone that is adamant about things like that…why would you be eating meat at all?
My kids are 3,6,9 and they are vegetarian until they can know and fully understand what meat is where it came from. Then they can choose of they want to eat that
me listening to this podcast while cooking with my giant tube of grocery store ground beef 👁👄👁
I'm so happy yall dont use the photo editor to make your eyes a bright white in the thumbnail
and this is one of the best episodes
Anyone who doesn't believe that intelligent (extraterrestrial) life is impossible: I recommend you look at video about octopuses. Those things have 8 brains and they figure things out at an incredible rate
They have 3 hearts too!
OK, so first, it’s more likely than not that the aliens we would meet would be small. It’s not an indicator of how big the aliens are, it’s a factor of if you’re traveling so far out into the galaxy or the universe, you need to be as efficient as possible. So much like submariners are often very tiny, so will the aliens visit us be.
Next, in order for us to interact with the aliens, I imagine they’ll have to be solid matter. That is to say, if you had energy beings, or gaseous beings, it’s unlikely we would see them, let alone get a chance to communicate with them. So those may be here and will never know. But solid aliens we would notice.
It’s a fair point that we don’t know how alien life sustains itself. They could be solar powered, they could in fact, eat rocks, they could be nuclear powered. And so in order to even have a chance at determining what kind of food they might be interested in, the first thing you have to do is learn how to communicate. That said, if they are desperate to eat, but they are polite and don’t just take what they want, then I would fashion a grid of some sort with some photos of each thing. I would have a bunch of jars filled with pure forms of various gases. Each one of them would have our diagram of the elements that are in the gas. The next row would be pure liquids, so water, ammonia, etc. I would then have picked to grams of their chemical composition as well. And then Nearby would need to be our periodic table so that they could potentially interpret the symbols.
Then would be a couple of rows of elemental solids, and then, after that would start the plants. They would be plants, mushrooms, etc. For each of these there would be a photo of the plants in its natural habitat, and then a list of the elements that are typically found in it.
Then samples of various animals that we eat. By the way, both the animals and plants don’t have to be the things that weird, because it might be the case that the aliens would need something from say a tree that we can’t digest.
aliens eat fish sticks and custard, saw it in a documentary
Sonic & Domino's pizza ranch tubs
Hasn't Josh read/seen Contact though?
Aliens don't need to travel all the way through all the spacetime in a rocket...
Just so we are clear... A hot dog is closer to being a calzone than it is s sandwich.
Should you bring a live animal or a dead animal? What if the alien is against killing?
Are you?..... Are you guys high? 😂
Josh thinks we could take a life form that was smart enough to travel space, and find themselves as food here? That would be the last time they try to make peaceful contact 😂😂
