Music video by The Mamas and the Papas performing Dedicated to the One I Love Dream A Little Dream of Me performed by Mama Cass: • The Mamas & The Papas ... (C) Dunhill Records
I came back from Vietnam and my wife would sing this song to me at night when i woke up screaming. Memories are not always good. Been tough since she died. I miss her more than i can say. Goodnight baby.
Indeed ...her voice carried a sound that was unmistakable and " larger than life " ....... It was 1967... I was 13 years of age, .... I still enjoy this music and introduced my daughters to all this music of the 60's/ 70's and 80's .
I lost my mam last month. She battled stage IV cancer for 7 years. This is the song she asked to be played at her funeral. I miss her more than words can say 💔
Sorry for your loss.. Moms are special. They suffer so much from birthing you, nurturing you, protecting you and worrying about you as you grow and learn, and it continues even as you grow into adulthood and become a mother yourself. You follow the same course by the examples she set for you. You become her. That's why you never truly lose her because she lives within you.
My mom died in 1966 when I was 8 years old. When this song would come on the radio I knew that it was from her. I'd listen to it every night before going to bed. That was her goodnight kiss.
But you know, this is just what a mom /parent etc/ who had to leave a child behind would HOPE for, that there would be some way to send love across the silent boundary back to the loved one. And what a great song to carry that!
Seriously? It’s just like any generic female voice. Talentless creature there for her looks and a hugely average and a very nasty being she was on top of that.
i was going out with this lady & she reminded me of Michelle. i fell in love with her & married her, loved her, worshipped he until she died at a stupidly young age of 64 I still love & miss her. sorry to be a pain

The older generation at that time could say what they want but the music was great and in all genres you could understand the lyrics. Cass got to impress as a solo artist after the Mamas & the Papas. She died young but famous. Did it her way.
If you ever need to teach a music student how vocal arrangement and dynamics works - this is the song. Michelle Phillips start the song so softly, and then John, Denny, and Cass come in with those powerful vocals and beautiful arrangement. Still makes my hair stand on end after all these years. What a classic composition and performance.
Agree totally John. I was 11 or 12 years of age and turned up the volume on the radio whenever this song came on. Beautifully written and performed, their voices just gelled exquisitely.
@@samburkes7552 I have respect for Phillips as a musician, songwriter and all his Mamas/Papas work. I love the Shirelles version, but when I heard this it became my favorite! I hum this all the time! His private life seems to have been quite problematic, which saddens me. He was, musically speaking, pretty great.
She has a sweet voice! I love that song to this day! Michele Phillips said in an interview that “Cass truly taught me how to sing.” And it sure paid off when we hear the Great songs of the Mamas and the Papas.
They don't make bands or songs like this anymore. Just shows what impact the 60's and 70's music had for us all. Every song they made is a classic. Natural and talented musicians. It is such a shame that they aren't here now - showing what they can do. Truly amazing....
it’s just you. of course you don’t remember all the bad songs from back then, because only the good ones get replayed all the damn time. also, they were very bossed around by their recordings and managers. many artists have more freedom today
Agreed. The popular songs back then were unparalleled. Side note: Todays popular music is nowhere near as good. If you want good modern music you gotta dig it up.
@@duschphobie There weren't that many bad songs back then. Technology meant that you had to be good to get a recording contract, and even better to then get picked up on rotation on the radio. The process weeded the rubbish out before people heard it. If you look at a top 40 from that era then just about anyone still around from those days will immediately know every one of them.
I have an album by Michelle Phillips. Her voice is sweeter and softer than Cass s, but Cass is is still today. One of my favorite female vocalists. I have all of her albums.😉

Way before my time, but I grew up listening to this. My mom started playing 60’s music for me when I was too young to even know or care that these were “old songs”. Of all the bands from that era that she loves, the Mamas and the Papas are my favorite. I could listen to those gorgeous harmonies all day.
The vocal blend, the perfect harmony and the overall beautiful sound of this group is a musical feast for the ears. These were REAL musicians giving their audiences great performances.
All 4 of their voices complemented one another’s producing the magnetic sound that is appreciated to this day worldwide, by millions, of all ages. Plus Michelle’s “impossibly beautiful”. For the record… the darkest hour is long before the dawn. Actually an increasingly bright twilight precedes the dawn. by about 90 minutes depending on your latitude and season / position of the earth in its orbit.

Odd. Michelle is singing the lead in this song and doing it beautifully and most of the comments I see are about her looks and how great mama Cass' voice was. I would have thought some people would actually acknowledge that Michelle could sing and that she was a big part of their sound. She wasn't just a pretty face.
Absolutely right. Michelle could sing alright. I think mama Cass's voice was very powerful and Michelle's voice got lost at times in some of the songs but they really did complement each other
I love Michelle, but she was just a decent backing singer (listen to he solo work from 10 years later). She certainly was a key to their success but Cass was extraordinary
daletwin1 When Michelle left the group, she was replaced but the chemistry just wasn’t there without her. And ,yes, she was a beauty with a fine voice.
I was 16 he was 21 took himself off to Australia couple of years later he died. This tune brings me back to that time 💔 after many years i haven't forgotten you x
Besides the incredible, timeless music, I love how they dressed. Cass was ultra-feminine with her flipped hair, lashes, gowns, mini-skirts, and white go-go boots. Michelle loved to wear button-up shirts and comfortable slacks. John wore the crazy big hat. Denny seemed to wear whatever he touched first in his clothes closet. ❤

Michelle was the classic 60s CA beauty, I was 8 when I first saw the group on ed Sullivan, I loved the music but I fell in love with Michelle, she was that beautiful 😍😍😍 even to a 8 year old male , me. What a time that was
Michelle brings incredible innocence and sincerity in the intro, like a gently flowing stream. Then, all harmonies hit. The words and music open the floodgates. I could cry knowing such a powerful, beautiful musical era is long gone, never to return. Or maybe. In my novel, Soothing The Savage Beat, by E. Augustine, I describe a dystopian future where such beautiful, sensible music has long been forgotten, but may be revived in an attempt to restore sanity in a world gone mad. Music is the therapy we need. And we need both. Even today, but by tomorrow we'll be desperate for both.
I never understand why certain people gotta destroy a bands stellar repution ...man these guys were so AMAZING,.... beautiful music, and one has to ruin everything.....
Michelle Phillips was never given the credit she deserved, had a lovely voice - went on to be a good actor if underutilised, early pictures remind me of Susan Dey when in the Partridge family
Kevin Hepworth I don’t have anything against Mama Cass she’s an amazing singer and has a beautiful voice but personally I enjoy Michelle’s voice better.

Way before my time, but I grew up listening to this. My mom started playing 60’s music for me when I was too young to even know or care that these were “old songs”. Of all the bands from that era that she loves, the Mamas and the Papas are my favorite. I could listen to those gorgeous harmonies all day.
each night before u go to bed my baby, whisper a little prayer for me my baby, and tell all the stars above “this dedicated to the one i love”
They have the most beautiful voices I have ever heard in my whole life. Sad to know that only one of them is still alive.
While I'm far away from you my baby
I know it's hard for you my baby
Because it's hard for me my baby
And the darkest hour is just before dawn
Each night before you go to bed my baby
Whisper a little prayer for me my baby
And tell all the stars above
This is dedicated to the one I love
(Love can never be exactly like we want it to be)
I could be satisfied knowing you love me
(And there's one thing I want you to do)
(Especially for me)
And it's something that everybody needs
While I'm far away from you my baby
Whisper a little prayer for me my baby
Because it's hard for me my baby
And the darkest hour is just before dawn
If there's one thing I want you to do especially for me
Then it's something that everybody needs
Each night before you go to bed my baby
Whisper a little prayer for me my baby
And tell all the stars above
This is dedicated to the one I love
This is dedicated (to the one I love)
This is dedicated to the one I love
This is dedicated (to the one I love)
This is dedicated
This is dedicated
Thanks 💗💗
Wow - Michele was an absolute stunning beauty !!
@@stevecrocker6904 Cass was everything.

daletwin1 When Michelle left the group, she was replaced but the chemistry just wasn’t there without her. And ,yes, she was a beauty with a fine voice.
I was 16 he was 21 took himself off to Australia couple of years later he died.
This tune brings me back to that time 💔 after many years i haven't forgotten you x
So nice to hear Michelle sing absolutely beautiful.
Superlative harmonies with Cass' perfect tone blending it all together.
I want to see Otis and Maeve together but feel bad for Ruby at the same time 😢
Besides the incredible, timeless music, I love how they dressed. ❤
No band could ever possibly match this it's timeless
В 1979 г. 🇷🇺 👏👏👏
Michelle was the classic 60s CA beauty, I was 8 when I first saw the group on ed Sullivan, I loved the music but I fell in love with Michelle, she was that beautiful 😍😍😍 even to a 8 year old male , me. What a time that was
The inspiration of Abba
Their bright rise. Burned out many retina. More magic from a foundation or an era what blended beautiful voices. Historic hall of fame
I remember this on the radio as a very young kid, still sounds beautiful 😊😊😊
Michelle's voice is like an angel crying on my ear drums..
I'm 22. Goddamn i love this era of american music, this woman is gorgeous as hell too she is captivating. feel sorry for all you oldies
When my mom first held me in her hands she heard this song coming from someone’s car. Now whenever I hear this I cry. Such a beautiful story!
I never understand why certain people gotta destroy a bands stellar repution ...man these guys were so AMAZING,.... beautiful music, and one has to ruin everything.....
The deepest and most profound art is often born of pain. ❤️🔥
Was there ever a creature more gorgeous...
I cant even describe how much I love this song.
Cass Elliot's voice is everything♥I always listen to this song over and over at it never gets bored. IM OBSESSED🥺
Kevin Hepworth Susan Dey was a natural beauty, as well.
Michelle kinda looked like a Manson girl here......
@@julia-ex7im no she wasn't.
@@mikepatrick5909 ..Tend to agree...but that was the sign of the times. Was a huge Mamas & Papas fan. Especially enjoyed the LA studio bunch, the Wrecking Crew backing them up, namely Mr. Joe Osborne on Fender Bass!! What an era!!
Wow, starting on Michelle's angelic face and voice singing about darkness. Just beauty ❤️
Perfect song for her angelic voice. She's beautiful.
whisper a little prayer for me my baby 🥺
What an era, what a band ! Simply awesome ... ❤🧡💛💚
im 71 yrs old today and i choose to be here with these great oldies. Blessed Be
One of the GREATEST ROCK bands of all time 😉!!!
It'll probably be tens of thousands of years before music is anything good like this again
Such a wonderful song. Classic as Is the Mama's And The Papa's group.. A beautiful song. Great songs from those 60s days. Fabulous. Beautiful voices of this group.. Classic of the 60s. The greatest songs.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️❤️❤️❤️
I had this song and Love Letters by Elvis played on Brittish overseas radio for my boyfriend who was serving with the army in Aden.We married when he came home. This song will always be ours.Miss him so much😢
By far the greatest group for their short time. Mamma Cass, wonderful.!
Impossível a saudade não apertar o coração da gente me sinto jovem de novo,e as lágrimas descem pelo rosto
What a beautiful girl that Michelle was! And the voice, all silky and soft, enriched with the beautiful backvocals of this eternal song. Even today, when I am already a helpless old man, I listen to her with the greatest joy and attention.
Such a beautiful, poignant song. Another timeless classic. Their voices are so exquisite in different ways, perfect.
When they all start singing it just gives you chills. Those voices were meant to sing together.
This song is one of 1000 great songs of the 60s great memories what an era for music
I wouldn't missed it for the world. Not like today.
Michelle's voice so on point and the segue way into the song perfection 🎼
Michelle had the face of an angel!
Hearing Mama Cass sing solo it obvious her voice carried the group more than anyone. Without her voice there is no Mamas and the Papas.
Michelle Phillips looks like a live doll! Such beautiful voices that complement each other. I like to belt out this song when I hear it! Timeless music! Cass' size wouldn't be unusual in today's world, esp. compared with singers like Lizzo.
A lyric that kicks right off with a compound-complex sentence. Perfect for my English classes.
Michelle was the epitome of beauty
To my Billie friend, soul mate, wife, mother to my children, now grand children. Thank you for the 51 years of love.
Born in 75 and I cannot wait to tell my wife, Tanya the same thing. God bless!
🥺😢💔
@@Getloose360 yes most important that she know how special she is. You know that you have a soul mate when in old age sick with everything imagined she is at your side holding your hand.
Que bonita, Michelle no cabe duda que bien dicho esta, "disfruta de la juventud" que cuando se llega a viejo no hay vuelta atrás!!!
Saludos desde México 👏🏻
