Great to have this covered on 'normal telly' - I've been glued to the screen for weeks watching this, so many twists and turns; everyone who completed the stage over the Stelvio Pass is an absolute hero, but Tao, Jai Hindley, Joao Almeida and Wilco Keldermann all made it a race to remember
Really impressive young man. Speaks so eloquently
What a likeable young guy. Well done Britain, really good at managing young talent!!!
Stay humble Teo, it's your most endearing quality.
The Giro is not second to the Tour in difficulty. Its HARDER.
Yeah that's a common misconception, although you could argue that the main one to win is le tour, therefore the "best" riders race that and not the giro.
Giro is the cyclists favourite
@@terry.hudson wtf are you on about. Each rider has a preference. And the tour is actually the one most want to do
Hardness isn't measured at how high the mountains are or how fast the cross-winds. It's to do with how tough the competition is and how fierce the racing is, and there the Tour still comes up trumps
The Tour is mob by the media...Giro is the hardest!
@@nielcutter3804 the giro sometimes has the hardest route in terms of length and climbing. But the tour is by far the most competitive and so has the hardest and fastest racing
True Champion! Tao deserves the best. Congrats from Brazil.
I follow you champ since you won the Giro della Luniugiana as junior rider a few years back. You've always proved to have something more than your rivals. Going forward you're definitely the Grand Tour name for Britain.
What a hero. Nice interview I thought they were quite taken by Tao 🙌🏻
Chapeau Tao, The New Man @ Ineos.
Giro is just as big as the tour, lets not discredit this amazing achievement.
Well done Tao for seizing the opportunity!
Its going to be interesting to see what Ineos do at the Tour De France next year with Teo and Egan Bernal.
A new cycling hero from GB 🇬🇧✌🏻 Fantastic achievement Tao 🚴🏼🚴🏼🚴🏼
Chapeau Tao 👏🏻
Yes what a story, one which was barely covered until he actually won. Even the BBC barely covered his stage win successes. When Froome confirmed he was leaving, the media was delighted as they were able to ride about the death of British cycling. Pathetic.
The guy is an absolute legend
Really happy for Tao but also disappointed for Geraint Thomas. He was in great form coming into this Giro. Not sure they stars are going to align for him again.
Interesting to reflect that it was Tony Blair's administration that focused money on three sports back around 2000: rowing, sailing and cycling. This led to success for all three in the 2008 Olympics. Brailsford used this impetus to set up Team Sky with Murdoch's money, more recently morphing into Ineos. It was Rohan Dennis's hard work that gave Geoghan Hart a shot at the title on Sunday. So during the celebrations, spare a thought not only for Dennis, but for the other unlikely, much hated these days, facilitator, Tony Blair.
The barnet from Barnet, or the hack from Hackney? What a nice, even-tempered young man.
Wooo gooo tao
Where is the lanterne rogue?
Tao is thanking the water bottle which took out Geraint
Won't beat around the bush, Tao is a one time hit. Well done to the lad, but this was an unusual Giro given main contenders left early or weren't on top of their game.
Time will tell.
The only thing the Giro is 2nd to le Tour too is it's fame. EVERYBODY, whether you're a cycling fan or not, will of heard of le Tour de France. not everybody will of heard of the Giro d'Italia, likewise goes for the Vuelta a Espana

What a beautifully diverse team you have in your studio! That white lady needs to simmer down a bit though - first she interrupts 4:17 the Indian (I hope I got it right) gentleman clearly trying to use her white privilege there, and then she makes some lowkey remarks about skipping school to the dark skinned gentleman with urban haircut. I think she needs to redo her racial sensitivity training, everyone agrees?
He's good but you can't forget that 3 teams had to leave the tour because of corona, so it isn't as big as a normal grand tour, but still an achievement. Also I would say Tom pidcock is the more exciting British rider of the future
It's a massive achievement! Yes favourites had to drop out but that's part and parcel of a 3 week tour. Anything can happen and you have to be the strongest rider, but also the rider that can make it to the finish and win.
Pidcock a more exciting prospect? The jury is out on that one. We will see if he can translate his junior performance to the big leagues.
Jumbo-Visma, Mitchelton-Scott, who was the third team?
Yates was already out of the running.
Steven Kruijswijk tested positive for CV19. The team could have continued but decided to leave.
Almost every grand tour has favourites that fall out of the running due to things outside of their control.
With the lack of racing this year, I'd say the Giro this year was bigger for both the fans and the riders.
2 teams.
@@epincion I would say pidcock is the more impressive rider. He proved his time trial ability in the junior champs where he won. He proved his stage racing ability in the baby giro which he won. He came 2nd this year in the world cyclo-cross champs beating van aert and second only to van der poel. In fact I would say he's going to be one of the best cyclists in the world along with bernal, pogacer and evenepoel
without a doubt the worst top 10 of a grand tour in the last 25 years.
dude, the Vueltas looked much worse in the early 2000's. and who cares about how the rankings look like as long as it was entertaining to watch...
