- VW 1900cc TDI turbo diesel motorbike walkaround and chat.
There has been so much interest in the bike recently that it's made me realise I've not actually posted much up about it. So I did a walk around and 15 min chat about all the main parts. - Věda a technologie
This is something straight out of the apocalypse. Without a doubt one of the coolest things I've seen. I bet the stock 90hp and 150tq feels brisk on that thing.
It moves like a rocket ship when the boost comes up :D !!
Long story short I've seen this in the flesh it's truly a fantastic piece of engineering on a budget, don't even think about knocking it until you can prove you've done better.
🤣🤣🤣
Motorcycle is a product of excess cannabis
Someone’s fly tipped a kiddies field bike…. Honda are on the phone now offering senior engineer role head of HRC.
How does he shift
I can just imagine Allen Millyard watching this video and saying ''why did I not think of that'' and then realising it was only a dream. It wins all the prizes. The fact that you did it and it works is a great achievement.
Allen Millyard would laughter at it it looks so rough
It would be fun to compare notes with him some day .
If you wrote the specifications of this bike down you would imagine a space age bike. What you get is a glorious junkyard mash up. Love it.
This is like a Mad Max bike. And it would probalby be really suited for the apocalypse too, seeing that diesel can last longer than gasoline.
I'm in absolute awe over the ingenuity of this machine, I mean the clutch using a PSM to lighten the lever load and the heated grips using engine heat run-off is brilliant! It's obvious that so much time and effort have gone into something as complex as this, good job dude
You're right in thinking more time went into thought and planning than actually making it.
How does he shift gears?
Problem solving at its finest. Somehow this vw diesel, MOTORCYCLE perfectly demonstrates hotrodding. There are "things"...and we can make those things do other stuff to suit our minds eye. Structural, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical in use and ALL coming from sources where their original designers couldn't fathom the current application. The time, trials, effort and commitment is to be congratulated .(Imagine if folks like this were fed resources and support. What a world) Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks for the complements. It was a lot of thought and effort getting all the parts to work to geather.
I saw this on my commute home last month at the Coldra in Newport. Absolute insanity, great build and nice to see something different!
Thanks, I don't do it to stand out but glad I get recognised.
I'm a car mechanic, nothing more nothing less. I admire the hours and brain capacity you must have to create such a marvel.
At first glance I laughed….then the more I looked the more I became intrigued. Anyone with any kind of mechanical curiosity will respect the work that has gone into this build, purely because there’s nothing really to copy from. I applaud your work, and I apologise for my initial ignorance! Great job!
this bike is really one of a kind. I love the heated handlebars among many other bits
I love the thought and ingenuity that has gone it to creating this beast. Well done
I'm very interested. I saw a motorcycle using a car engine and I loved it.
and since watching many channels only your channel Explain components and problems and solutions. Thank you for having a work like this.
A lot of effort and thought went into getting it all working together before starting the build
I did a Hackercamp talk about building it and a lot of the technical problems this talk also covered making another diesel bike.
czcams.com/video/hCPaaSKCiWQ/video.html
That engine though, the way it dumps everything it has right in the midrange.
With a tune they make darn Passats feel brisk. Insane on 2 wheels
I can imagine after a 4th gear pull - the grips getting toasty 😂
It’s crazy how you overcome all the problems of fitting a diesel car/van engine into a bike and it looks like something out of mad max I love what you have built here
Really quite brilliant problem solving, with many elegant solutions. How you used the engine as a stressed frame member, and fabed the steering head and coupling of the rar frame to the engine is worthy of its own video. Bravo !
Respect for the amount of research and problem solving involved in this project!
Love it. May not be the prettiest, but its an extremely cool and unique build! Awesome!
Thanks. None of my bikes have been pretty ;)
I so respect this kind of engineering, building, and out of the box thinking. If I had your clever skills and experience, I'd die happy.
It's taken a lifetime of pushing the boundaries of my experience and skill with every bike or sidecar I've made or modded.
I just didnt wake up one day and say, I'll make a mad assed bike. It took years of practice on smaller stuff.
I've watched this three times now. It's beautiful.
I think everyone really wants a good diesel motorcycle and its amazing and funny to see you making your own.
Great to finally find out all about it! Another triumph of ingenuity. Glad my old springs came in useful, well, I'm guessing they were out of my old place anyway. :D
Yea, very useful indeed. Thanks. It was the one from some fancy pantcy BMW suspension. They are so insanely expensive suspension units there's none on the second hand market as they're still worth 100s to have reconditioned.
I like the matching scenery!
This is a work of art that, incidentally, you can ride. So cleverly thought out.
Im deep in a engine and drivetrain swap in a buddies 53 GMC. Found this gem of a video now I want to hurry that project through and start something like this. I freakin love this thanks for sharing.
I love the creativity and the problem solving!
Wherever you look there is one genius thing another another! From water heated handlebars to the EPAS assisted clutch, that thing is amazing!
Thank you. It was a lot of work to complete.
What an amazing thing you build!
Love these type of builds!
Thats bloody epic mate!!! a buddy of mine is currently building a turbo diesel chopped with air ride in out shop now just slow go at it, but hell you've gone alot farther that what we will on his!! love it~~!
Thanks, Hope he gets to finish it some day.
Love this type of machinery, thanks for showing it!
I cant believe im what I'm seeing this is so cool, I've been wanting to build the exact same project for as long as i can remember. I just can't get enough time on my hands to make it happen im impressed
As amazed as I am at this build as amazed I am that you're still alive mate
Fantastic! I've often thought of making a 4wd Kart with the rough idea of a longitudinal mounted fwd and use the transaxle's differential as a center diff, possibly weld it or LSD and then find a front and rear axle to finish it out. Great build.👍👊
The Russians do that.
YOU Sir are a crazy genius. Well done!
This is incredible. Mad Max type stuff. Hats off to you sir!
So cool seeing this in person!
The clutch operating system is very clever stuff. I was building a Smart Trike 700 and had done about 90% when illness screwed me. Clever stuff bro.
That is truly a masterpiece, I love it.
This popped up on my feed and I loved it. Here's a like!
this is the most beautiful thing i have ever seen. i am not joking. this is magnificent
This is a work of art.
MY GOD! that is an insane amount of work, right there. And talent! I have to suscribe! Kudos, mate! Kudos!
I love it. Can’t imagine the damage if you accidentally lay it over though, that’d be a mess
Kudos to your set designer! That kind of "fly-tipped layby" set looks perfectly post-apocalyptic, an ideal setting for the video!
The Caddy bit is the little Volkswagen van. 👍
Excellent engineering, well done.
An amazing feat of engineering and innovation
You absolute madman. I love it.
I love it. What a cruiser! With some grunt to back it up.
That’s awesome! Dam fine engineering and one hell of a job!
Thanks, Probably the most enjoyable bike I have ridden or owned.
Gorgeous diesel punk! Absolutely scored!
That defines enginuity! Great build.
great engineering and solutions to problems there. Its a beast in every sense of the word. :).
Of all the amazing things about this bike, it’s the cv axle that gets me 😂
Your sir are an engineering Genius bravo 👏 it's a work of Art.
Very smart bike .thinking out the box on things to work and be reliable .the fact you not done with a new machine is more impressive .the vw tdi engine is a brilliant engine .i bet your fuel economy is crazy .very mad max
DAMN IS THAT A DIFF? I always find diesel bikes so amazing. They really have a special place in my heart. I would love to own one when I get older.
Thanks, This is my 4th one. Most people make their own.
Your phone's camera quality perfectly matches the bike. Outstanding work 💪
Brilliant, Totally Brilliant, love the final drive, that fit perfectly.
You have no idea how much effort went into making it all fit together. .
@@o0OMouseO0o ok maybe not perfectly lol, but still brilliant.
The Mad Max-est bike I've ever seen!
Totally brill mate! As a Merc Technician and an owner of several VW TDi, I can recognize so many bits and bobs off my 4motion / Syncro TDi. Loving it! How is difficult was your MoT?
I have a local garage used to my oddities. He checks everything and often overfills the err fail box but he dosn't mind as I'm not an argumentative prick about it which is actually what MOTers don't like about the job.
amazing work!
well done young man, your living the dream.
Very interesting build :) mad max style :) hope your jacket is not greasy after ride :)
Looks like a gr8 thing to ride. Well done👏
It's very smooth and stable. Used it 5 years commuting 75 miles each day. Loved every moment.
Madness and I like it!!
Great piece of engineering! It is a few years ago that you posted this video. I assume some motormanufacturer contacted you and now you are the head engineer in the development department.😀
...My guy...This is exceptional!
What a machine! It must have taken as long to sort out the components as it did to build.
I noticed it has a tow hitch as well. 😊
Oh yea, planning it was the difficult part that took a long time.
Thats fantastic. Clutch is genius
When you binge watch scrap heap challenge over lock down and thats all you got in the garage. Fair play
I have no idea where the bike starts and the rubble begins, only joking this is a true masterpiece of making things work great work mate absolutely brilliant some would say genius
I think the fly tipping in the background is perfect for this bike. A few bits of tape and cable ties could go, but it might spoil 'the look' 🙂
I did spot the flytip and thought, This is perfect!
Outstanding job
It looks really cool.
She shore is Purdy ! Great background shot for her, actually great job, I'm a bit of a MacGyver myself and love the out of the box thinking, much better IMO than a V8 !
I love it! A man thinking outside of the box. Just a suggestion get in touch with Allen Millyard. I'd say you and himself would get on really well.
I've often wondered that but I'm reasonably socially awkward so havnt reached out to him.
It is men me like you, who made. Britain. Great once. Inventors of machines in your shed. DIY. Really well done to you. 👍👍@@o0OMouseO0o
Love it! Mad Max Bike.
Pretty interesting piece of engineering. Maybe as a motorcycle it makes no sense, but seems a fun to make and a hard but grateful project.
It just shows what can be done with little money, plenty of trips to the scrapyard and a brilliant mind. I could manage the first two but that would just leave me with a heap of used parts and a sore brain.......The MPG must be great and it should run for 300K MLS.
dude you were preparing for the apocalypse right on nice
I am the apocalypse!
LOL!!
Mad Max bike! My compliments!
Excellent Jolly - Recommended! 😀
Wow. Total respect!
The biggest problem visually when making one of these using modern diesel engine is all the clutter that comes from the electronics and wiring and emissions plumbing. Total opposite of some pre 00s mechanical diesels, those provide much cleaner look. Still a cool build.
Yea, a modern diesel engine is a computer on wheels that burns fuels.
Awesome, love it!
Wow! I take my hat off to you. Brilliant! I also love the "Rat Bike" look.
Incredible frankenstein bike.
Georgeous!
Can you please make a video about the gear shifting solution, and some demonstration of gear changes?
Hi, There's on over here.
czcams.com/video/lC9pCAnBihk/video.html
brilliant i love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOVE IT!!!
I bet the MOT testers love this beauty
He dosn't mind me and my bikes because I don't pick fights with him to pass bald tyres and worn out brakes.
I love it👍
this bike looks craxy amn, cool af
It really is a mad Max survival bike.
Brilliant. A real Frankenstein straight out of Mad Max :).
You need to find a friendly upholsterer to bung a seat cover. It would set it off perfect.
Hi Mouse, loving the power assisted clutch! I can imagine that could have been a stumbling block on a project like this, also very impressive how you got so many large parts to sit together without making her too huge! Do you turn off the heated bars this time of year?
Hi mate, a great feat of engineering 👍, it's built to go not for show ! .
Great to see how you managed to overcome the problems you came up against .
Best regards uncle Franko 👍😁
And I thought making luggage racks for my bike was a big job. Well done.
