Avec Metamorfosi, Constantinople prend la liberté de réinventer la musique Italienne baroque en déchiffrant les manuscrits de compositeurs tels que Kapsberger, Monteverdi et Rossi. En dialogue avec ces oeuvres, la musique de Ali Ufki, musicien de la cour Ottomane, et des compositions et arrangements de Kiya Tabassian font voyager l'Ensemble dans un univers musical captivant. Les mouvements spontanés, les contrastes prononcés et les rythmes inhabituels de ce programme fournissent un terreau fertile pour les musiciens de Constantinople, qui prennent du plaisir à s’affranchir des codes culturels de la vieille Europe.
For this concert, Ensemble Constantinople has taken the liberty of reinventing the music left by Italian early baroque composers such Kapsberger, Monteverdi and Rossi. In response to these beautiful works, Constantinople will interpret a few masterpieces from the Polish composer at the Ottoman court, Ali Ufuki, as well as new compositions by Constantinople music director, Kiya Tabassian. The ensemble aims to create a dialogue that recreates the spirit of the cultural exchanges between Venice and Eastern capital cities, such as Constantinople. The spontaneous changes, sharp contrasts and unusual rhythmic groupings in this program provide fertile ground for the musicians of Constantinople, who always welcome the chance to free themselves from the cultural codes of old Europe.

Our tiny, 10th century Saxon church here in the UK took our services online during Covid, and I started to search for, and play, music that in hard times touches the heart. Three years later and after Covid, we continue this exploration of great music because everyone agrees that this kind of art elevates the spirit. I am so grateful for the musicianship of these fellow human beings.
Notre petite église saxonne du Xe siècle ici au Royaume-Uni a mis nos services en ligne pendant Covid, et j'ai commencé à rechercher et à jouer de la musique qui, dans les moments difficiles, touche le cœur. Trois ans plus tard et après le Covid, on continue cette exploration de la grande musique car tout le monde s'accorde à dire que ce genre d'art élève l'esprit. Je suis tellement reconnaissant pour la musicalité de ces êtres humains.
Gracias a la música me he situado a las orillas del Ganges, he caminado sobre la arena del desierto de Gobi. Me sentí helado bajo las nieves de Siberia y me senté en los pastos de las praderas de Mongolia. Sobre el río Yangtsé escuché otros sonidos. Desde la cordillera de los Andes mi oído llegó más allá del río Bravo. Gracias música del mundo. Gracias música del remoto pasado.

Simply outstanding and soul searching. I am not educated in music but I have been gifted with wonderful ears and deep respect for sounds. Here I don't know about any instruments except violin. But I enjoyed every moment which took me on the etherial tour of unknown spaces. I don't know how to thank you people for such enriching experience.

Understanding other cultures and being heartful to other people has nothing to do with who you are by nationality or race etc. It's about a person's outlook and education. Being Russian doesn't make me neither proud nor ashamed - just a fact given, no more no less. But what really means is how I (or any other human) views the world and acts upon. Let it be peace and understanding 🙏

I do speak Spanish and French, and have traveled extensively to experience art around the world. And in those years of travel I've met Russians. And they are knowledgeable. Hence my comment.
