    I have used a heat gun in the past. I have tried chimneys. But the best I have used is a small propane or MAP gas torch. Really fast!!! Have a good one and May God bless y'all

    I love these things. I find if you lay them where the heat is venting up from underneath, they ventilated better. If I put them on the indirect side, they tend to go out. On the heat side with more air flow they make beautiful blue smoke.

    • @kuhne
      @kuhne Před 2 lety

      Hi, so are you putting your tube directly over the flame? I have a 5 burner gas grill and have had mixed results, obviously when I get better smoke is when I place the tube directly on top of the flame but that is exactly what they tell you not to do, as it will burn faster. When I put it on the side where no burners are on, I've had it last up to 5 hours or more but it goes out at least twice, sometimes 3 times in the process, it's a pain in the ass. My best performance has been using a raised rack and putting the tubes (I use 2) directly under the meat, even if it drips over them, I've felt this is the best way for the meat to actually get some smoke but logically this would mean the tubes are in the indirect side. So you recommend putting it on top of the flame?

    Nice! New to your channel. I have been using a traditional smoker for almost 20 years but it died on me. RIP Bandit! I just got the KC Combo. I will be doing my first cook today, I like the idea of adding smoke tubes to get more smoke. I was worried it wouldn't have enough but from your comments I should expect a smoke ring. My question is how did you attache the cutting board to the foldable shelf? Did you remove the old shelf or did you attach it to the existing shelf? Thanks for your help. Keep smoking!

    I saw someone else post on one of your other videos saying their KC combo didn’t put out much smoke on it’s own and he couldn’t get smoke rings on his meat.. is that the case with your smoker and is that why you use these? Looking to get my first pellet grill soon

    • @LowandSlowBBQ
      @LowandSlowBBQ  Před 4 lety +2

      The KC Combo is an amazing machine, however it does not put out as much smoke as other smokers on the market, I really like a heavier smoke flavor on my meat that is why I use the tubes. Although it does on its own produce enough smoke to leave a smoke ring. The best way to generate more smoke from the machine is to run at lower temps like 225 or less, possibly 250. If I had to buy over again I would still go with the KC Combo because of the versatility of the entire machine, griddle, char-broiler, grill, smoker Etc. I hop this helps, thanks for the comments.

    • @LowandSlowBBQ

      The tubes give more smoke on the meat for flavor.

  • @kentyler966

    I have the round model shown. I’ve been trying to use it on a 3 burners. I leave off the burner on the left side and have the others on with a medium setting. Everything looks perfect until you close the lid. In 10 minutes the tube is almost choked out. Seems like the 2 burners are consuming all the oxygen under the lid and starving the tube? Oxygen starvation?
    Any ideas?

    • @LowandSlowBBQ
      @LowandSlowBBQ  Před 2 lety +1

      It is possible you might ensure that you are letting the tube burn pretty good for about 3-5 mins if you are not already. I am not sure as I do not use a gas grill I am using an electric pellet smoker.

    • @kentyler966
      @kentyler966 Před 2 lety +2

      I do let the tube burn for 10 minutes. It’s smoking like crazy. I lay it down on the cold side of the grill and control the grill temperature with the remaining 2 burners. I then close the lid and in 8-10 minutes the smoke is down by about 80%. Then I leave the lid open and in about 5 minutes I’ve got lots of smoke. It seems like closing the lid starves the tube of oxygen.

    • @TChalla007
      @TChalla007 Před rokem

      Let the tube be parallel to the lid right up against it. You get just enough air to keep it going.

    I am very confused...
    (Please NOTE I don't know very much about pellet grills... That is why I'm here...
    Question to you is... Why are you using a pellet tube smoker, if you're putting it in a Pellet Grill? Why don't you just use the pellet grill? Yes? No?

    • @Mixwell1983
      @Mixwell1983 Před 2 lety +2

      Because on a pellet grill on the smoke setting the auger only drops pellets every soo often so it isnt smoking constantly.. since the pellets are the fuel source, the higher the temperature the faster the pellets burn for heat and the less smoke they provide. A smoker tube helps deliver smoke for the whole duration.
      Pellet grills lack the ability to give a heavy smoke flavor due to them burning very clean and generally fast vs woodchips or chunks.
