Up until today I didn't know my PS3 played ps1 games. I'm clueless.
Flying V the slim can play PS3 AND 1 games but Phat can play 1,2 & 3
JINPegi ps3 models are set by generations. SuperSlim 5th slim 4th Fat or Phat like you call it 1-3. Only first and second gen could run ps2 games. How to tell difference? Third gen got 2usb ports. First and second gen got 4usb ports.

I know I'm very late to comment this but the PS3 recognises the Xbox 360 Disc as a DVD Movie if you went into the *Movies tab*

The xbox and Xbox 360 games in a different console ment to show a video clip with Xbox logo (original Xbox) and green hoops (Xbox 360) and tells you its a Xbox game and tells you to put it in your Xbox/Xbox 360 console! Hope this helps you knowing what it does XD lol k XD

you have to put it in their all the way in order to read it that why I check the psp memory card stick and it works even though it not the game but it the stuff that you save on the memory card stick
You put in a Ps1 game in a Ps3 and it worked, so its backward compatible... im pretty sure a Ps2 game would work as well! :P
The Xbox 360 game would of been recognised as a DVD. It would give a message saying 'To play this disc put it in a Xbox 360 console'
