    Great idea. Maybe you could use more sewing pattern paper - 2 papers stitched together to make 1 page. Or packaging paper. All torn to the size you want them. 😊❤

    I feel the one cover is more vintage, almost shabby chic in a way with the lace and softness. I love the idea of pattern paper as mentioned in the comments and more vintage pages. I do also feel the other inside pages you made are just a little too modern and clean edged, as you stated. I love the idea of fabric hinged pages in the blue jean slashed cover. And I think both projects are going to be wonderful. You making amazing journals.

    As always I love your videos and can't wait to make a slashed journal cover. Use 3 of your already prepared watercolor papers a long with other papers to make 3 signatures. Rough up the edges of the watercolor papers with the edge of a pair of scissors. If the bright white of the watercolor paper is bothering you dye them with tea or coffee.

I loved the pages you made too, those numbers are just gorgeous. However, I agree they don't go with either cover. IMHO I think the denim one would look cool with pages that look like street art and the paper cover with pages that have vintage vibes and lace etc. Maybe the numbered pages would be better in a journal with a larger spine so you could add other pages between the watercolour ones. Whatever you do, I'm sure it will be amazing. It always is ❤ xxx

    If I may, I actually like these papers in the denim signature... the contrast of denim blue and the white makes a nice color combination. If you want to keep it in the paper slashed cover... maybe add some coffee splattering/smudging so it's less pristine white (it looks very stark white still on cam, despite the interest you have already added to it). As for ripping up the edges... you CAN def do that eventhough you have stitching all around, it will only add to the raggedy :) but maybe it will become too raggedy to your likings ^^ Looking foward to the follow up and decisions you make on these!

    Love how the wax cover came out. Can you attach several tea bags to make a large paper and then tear them down to the correct page size? Might be cool and would tie to your snippet roll. Can’t wait to see what you do. 😊

  • @jayneelinor
    @jayneelinor Před 3 dny

    I actually love the numbered papers in this neutral book. They share the vintage look colour wise and the more structured pages are a great contrast to the softer cover. To marry the two further, I would add some lace tabs/embellishments to the pages in creams and whites. I would also rough up th edges of the watercolour paper with a knife to soften a little. Thats my 2 cents!

    Must admit, the thing I loved most about the denim cover, were the colours peeking out. So I was kind of hoping you’d layer colours in between. Maybe with an opaque paper that’s a similar colour to the covers so the in between bits would still show the effect of the map, but there would be lots of colour peeking out between rows. Of course, you could also just dab the tissue layers with distress sprays/inks to get some cool colours (you’re still cutting so I don’t know if you did that

    • @allisonjames2923
      @allisonjames2923 Před 3 dny +2

      The cover is actually beautiful the way it came out, especially with the snippet roll decoration. Some random strings of beads & crystals in neutral colours would make it absolutely perfect though. As it looks so delicate with its translucent layers, lace & threads

    Softer pages would be great in this waxed cover - sewing pattern paper sewn together with lots of lines of sewing or random stitching. What if you waxed different thin papers or a lace that has a tight pattern (not too many holes)? Decoupaged napkins, paper covered with baby oil, fabric, lace, etc. It would be fun to experiment.

    The pages need to be a much more delicate material in the paper journal. Like maybe, tissue, vintage book pages, handmade or mulberry paper... I also think on the pages you had prepared, it would work well if you stamped the even numbers on the reverse side of the pages 😊

I printed off a copy of a piece of papyrus that is one of the oldest surviving documents in the world, then used Momigami & some inks to age it. It is absolutely gorgeous! Especially because I actually used oxide inks on the back & some bled through to the front & mixed with the aged colour of the papyrus, giving it a unique & stunning effect

    I think perhaps you need some softened coloured/printed/stamped vellum pages (I get a beautiful translucent vintage green colour vellum from “Which Craft Do You Do” in Australia) & a page made from a few sewn layers of sewing patterns/tissue paper, perhaps with an inner layer of copy paper to give it some strength, some waxed & Momigami treated pages & even a lace bordered/lace/sheer fabric page. Aiming for translucency, subtle vintage colours, gold & Pearl shimmer effects & softness/pliable pages throughout to fit with the beautiful cover 🤔 Can’t wait to see what you do. This cover makes me think of a Tattered Angel for some reason

    I'm confused. You said "obviously we can't put this into our washing machine". Excuse me, but... WHY NOT? 😂❤

    love this dear adorable my thought is to add some Tabs that were ragged or edge pieces or snippets to some of pages the colors are beautiful to go with journal , I think adding a few to some of Pages will be fine as is no rules dear you can have raggedy and straight pages mix them up .💖😃

    I think you should do what you want. But I don’t think the watercolor pages are right for either cover.
    Sidebar: I’m totally inspired, as usual ❤

    I don’t like the numbered pages for the neutral cover to stif do some vintage pages more delicate

    But on warm days that the paper could get warm, or if in a hot area in storage, does the wax re-melt and get oozy??

    Those gorgeous papers do not go into that paper cover. Both are beautiful, but no stiff papers should be in that delicate yet sturdy layered cover. Raggy, distressed, torn, nuetral and browns, a little lace ... get your inspiration from your snippet roll.❤

    I really like this effect and the process as well, but I don’t have a sewing machine and so am trying to figure out how I would create a facsimile of that effect … if you have any ideas, I would really love them!!
    And in terms of what to put into the two different covers - I would think that the paper cover one should have softer papers in it yes, but I’d really like to see a really simple kind of structure or decoration I guess within … along the same colour themes.
    And for the blue Jean one, yes, I think some fabric variations along with paper pages would look interesting … i’m just ripping off the top of my head though of course!!! ❤

      Thanks for your feedback. You could hand stitch the cover as well….
