This is such a stunning journal. For all of us who are reformed perfectionists, that would be a perfect series. “Loosing your innate perfectionism through the freedom of Junk journaling.”

This is exactly why I “made” myself begin collage; to learn to let go of some of the constant demands of perfectionism I place on myself. I began making journals for my art, it’s more economical and I love the recycling/repurposing effects of it. But had no plans to do collage, until junk journaling pushed me into it. I soon realized the struggle of the messiness was so good for my brain. Learning to let go has been so freeing for my mind and has become an outlet. Journaling and collaging have become my safe place to be unorganized in a positive way.

Sometimes it’s just fun to watch how someone puts signatures together. Loved watching your thought process, and your tips on paper tape solved a problem for me!

It’s a bit thrilling to see a big book like this. I’m always eager to see how pages are joined; there are many neat ways to do it. I get ideas. A big book is nice because most or all of the pages are portrait-facing. Then pages don’t have to be folded and viewed sideways. Sideways bugs me (gosh darn perfectionism). I should work on that. Barbara - I am very fortunate to be taking several art classes for free here in the US. A comment that is always made by the instructors as we begin a project is "wabi sabi". A Japanese philosophy that beauty lies/dwells in imperfection.

Barbara: I am a lot, lot older than you and a perfectionist. All you can do is manage it so you aren’t afraid of doing other things. You have already demonstrated that over the years. (More so than me.) And kudos to you.
However, being a perfectionist can also be beneficial for you. It has come in handy many more times than not for me. I feel that everything I have created for my clients or myself is the best it can be. That is a great feeling too. Remember that. This journal is already on its way to being a really intriguing one and that music sheet page took my breath away. PERFECT! Carol from California

I too struggle with perfection but I’m working on liberating myself!
I just watched a video where someone used paper tape like that with a Gelli plate to make painted vintage looking “washi” tape. It looked amazing. They had white paper tape too.
I love putting papers together for a journal. Watching this makes me want to make a big one.

This is so cute, I love this. I haven't had much time to create anything with junk journals recently, but watching this has me thinking about trying to make some nice easy mixed media collages to incorporate into my current journal project when I get back to it. It's very nature themed, and that paper with the leaves all over it got me thinking about using some decopatch papers on top of my collages and hand drawn and painted pictures.

Perfectionist here as well! That’s the reason I love to join challenges like junk journal July 😊, I feel free to create as I want and not having to worry about my page being perfect like when making a journal for someone. I’m in my late sixties and my perfectionism was stressful all my life. So try and let go.

This video is perfect for me right now. I’m trying so hard to get my signatures together. 3 is about all I think will work after doing embellishments and filling it with yummy things. But I’m conflicted. I kind of want to use some stencils and embossed pages. Sewing on the pages edges before I sew in signatures. So then I think I want to do the elastic bands to hold them in place and I can take them out one at a time and put them back when I’m done sewing or painting. I’m just gonna sit back and see how you do everything (Lol!! No pressure)! Anyway I’m excited to see this take shape. It’s bigger than your normal Journal. So that’s fun too! Thanks for sharing!♥️♥️♥️

I did a 15×11 junk journal: vintage music sheets, magazine pics(1935), vellum sayings about children. The whole journal is beautiful old pictures of children. It's grungy. I found a huge box of music sheets at an estate sale quite a while ago. ( I had so much, I even mailed some to Austria..:) Back in the 30s and 40s, they seemed very fond of that orangy red for some reason. 🤔

Your inspiration... is she the one who sends you items and you use only them to create a journal? Those were great videos!!!❤😊 You always rise to the challenge!

I love your channel. I am a man in America. I have so many books and I want to distill them into journal pages. I want to cut out any quotes, sentences, and pics, that resonates with me from each book. Have you ever done that? Do you have a video about that idea?
