      That’s why I do so many comments tbh, even a few that might rub people up the wrong way, to hopefully get a discussion going. I admit my views on sailing can be controversial, and that pretty much any boat design can be made to work, but anything that gets people thinking outside the box, like I have been forced to, due to disability, isn’t a bad thing imho. A Sailboat easy and safe for someone disabled to sail, is loaded with features that an be a huge help to the physically fit and able bodied people as well ? Best Wishes.Bob. 👍🌟🌟🌟🙂

      Apparently going to other older videos for updated comments can help a lot as well. The BavariaC46 tour I revisited had me spot the small square fixed cabin to skylights the first time I watched it, and given the problems of failure and expense of replacing the very large one piece skylights that some use, was deserving of receiving some praise to be honest. Best wishes. Bob.🤔🌟🌟🌟👍❤️

    I like the 42 Cs, though tbh, I doubt they’d build me one with what I need, plus couldn’t afford their pricing. I like the low to mid 40 feet LOA with a decent Beam of about @4 ft with a-decent below waterline hull profile - no flat bottom surfboards between the chines to slam me into concussion (bought that T Shirt too often ) . So if I can get the Custom Wing Keel I need, the Dufour 44 should tick the boxes I need. U get the impression, that MarsKeel want to see their Keel fitted by the Boatbuilder, I.e. Dufour themselves? In which case I reckon I’ll be so out of luck. 🤔 Bob.❤

    Oooo.There are some really wonderful Strong Beers around . One is the brilliant Winter Brew strength 8.5% Robinson’s Old Tom, like liquid Christmas Pudding in a glass.Sold lots of it as a Barman, but never managed to have a session on it sadly, as I always had to drive Customers home after they’d had a wonderful evening with it. Belgian and German - in the Eiffel Wheat beers Draughty, are pretty awesome, not too good in bottles though. The very best strong beer I’ve enjoyed though, came as a very big surprise, it was in the Inn I stayed at in Massachusetts- Draught Kentucky Ale, Matured in Bourbon Barrels. One day, I’m making it back for some more of the best sipping Ale in the World. Oh the Boat lol.not a fan of timber on decks if heading to the Tropics. Sailplan? Self tacking Jibs still appear absolutely pointless to me, so a Genoa of around 145% Triradial construction with three reinforced reefing points designed and built in, to fully furl in when wind hits 30 knots works for me and what I’m looking for, with an in mast furling Main custom built and experimental. Then furling/ Reaching Code Zero. Anything over 30 knots, Zero Sailcloth active at the bow or stern of the boat, the experimental bit is a Staysail section to the Main when furled in to keep all wind forces at the mast. It will probably take a few versions, and maybe even a laminated polyester, to get just right. Ullman Sails are offering something very interesting so far. 🤔👍🌟🌟🌟 Best Wishes. Bob❤ (Can’t wait to see what he interior of the boat is like 🤣)

      I was surprised with the strength of the beer but the taste was great. My Hotel was opposite a Brewery that had a restaurant come pub open to the public, so many an evening was spent sampling the local offerings. Sail plan is a funny thing depending on where you expect to sail, when discussing our mainsail with the sailmaker we as in me asked him to add a forth reef so it can act as a storm sail. First three are in-line reef points and the forth is hanked on for strength.

    Very impressive below decks, with great Fuel and Water tankage, and nicely oversized inboard diesel engine. Love the Bunk Room . It’s a lot like a scaled up old Elan Impression 434 ? Those Bunkrooms can be made into brilliant workshops, which made me hanker for a 434 for a bit, before Elan Blew it, going all in on deep Drafts and twin rudders. Sigh. ☹️ Bob.❤

    PS. I’ve emailed them to see if they can do a Wing Keel with a 4 ft 6 inch Draft lead keel (should be ok in lead ) for the Dufour 44 and a rough price for manufacture and fitting.. Likely could have it a bit heavier than standard tbh. 🤔 Best Wishes. Bob. ❤

    • @brownnoise357
      @brownnoise357 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@gregluce Yes, and that is way too deep for cruising outside of the Mediterranean. For example, the most important run to small well sheltered bays I’ve used on the West Coast of Britain, to be able to tuck in close to shore, have a low tide water depth of under 5 feet to drop anchor in. The boats I have used have been long keel shallow draft and shallow Draft with Bilge Keels that were able to dry out at low tide. A couple of Bays were really nice, as you could dinghy ashore to use behind the beach pubs or Cafes to get a meal, while keeping an eye on the boat. That’s why I was initially attracted to the Sirius DS boats that have a twin keel option tbh, but while ok for cold regions, for me, turned out not practical for the Tropics, and likely to be uncomfortably hot there, due to low internal airspace volume - same issue with most centre cockpit Sailboats to be honest. You need a lot of internal Head height volume to be able to handle the heat, without running air conditioning flat out night and day imho. So Sailboats with a very large and comfortable Aft Cockpit with Sun and Weather protection fit what I need personally for Sailboats with a shallow enough Draft. The Deck Saloon Sailboats that are able to work really well for the Tropics, are the Bill Dickson designed Moody DS range, which have superb internal volume, and enough aft Cockpit she,ter, to be able to leave the doors to the interior open when anchor as well as while under way. Sadly I can’t afford one. Optimum appears to be the 48 foot model ? Best Wishes. Bob. 🤔🌟🌟🌟👍❤️

    Whenever I compare Amel, Oyster and Contest, Amel 50 always comes out on top by a wide margin.
    As for me, I love Rustler's quality and design, but Rustler does not make boats that are 48-50 feet long.
    At this rate, Amel shipyard will succeed in carrying out a legal robbery on my bank account.
    Even though it is difficult, I continue to resist, I hope the rustler will make a revolution.

    Lovely boat but I'd say Contest is stretching the idea that one is an aft cockpit and the other a centre cockpit. The difference is marginal really. The interior layout is more of a differentiator but even then they could have offered either layout on the same model. To my mind a slightly odd marketing exercise to create two boats from one.
