  • Quick demonstration of V2L (Vehicle to Load) facility on the MG4, which allows you to take power to a standard domestic socket from the car's main drive battery.
Potentially useful in power cuts, when camping, or just out somewhere for the day.

First time I've seen the V2L connector for the MG: much more compact than the Hyundai equivalent. Baffles me all EVs don't have V2L as standard now. Aaaand now I fancy a coffee.

It's not the official one, Andrew, but an eBay special. The official MG one is silly money, unfortunately. They didn't have them in the dealership when I picked up the car, but even the salesman suggested an aftermarket one.

@@jtchivers That's great you can get an aftermarket one, and refreshing to hear the salesman suggested buying it!

I read on one of the forums that the MG4 was exceeding it's published specs by providing 7kW V2L. Is the MG4 already the car we need to run our homes through the expensive peak power times?
    Tempted.

Our home generally trickles around the 300-500 Watt range at any one time throughout the day. I think it needs a true way to connect a car to a consumer unit for it to work properly like that, but I'm no electrian.
What it will do is keep essentials (e.g. fridge/freezer) powered of course, in the event of a power cut.

@@jtchivers Hello, is this V2L available for the standard MG4? What kind of MG4 do you advise?

If you get a 6mm 32amp cable you can connect it to the v2l adapter but I'm not sure which adapter to buy without more research, someone on a forum got a steady 6.9kw from his car to his house which would be ideal for me to run my electric radiators off and he explained the whole job from start to finish but never said which v2l to use.

Do you know what max voltage/amps it can provide? Is that 7kw at 240v? So over 20amps? (And I assume that it doesn’t have a socket inside? )

Did you ever find out the answer mate or find one that has a 7kw at 240v?
