    That paper oil filter is not recommended by Yamaha. The micro screen filter is OE. That's what the dealer here in Canada told me. Is it different in the USA?

    My 2021 TW200 motor grenade itself. Cost me about 2 grand to get it fixed. Yamaha said they didn't cover it cause of improper maintenance. It was at 1998 miles when this happened. The initial oil was changed around 600 miles. After getting the bike back the dealership said Yamaha recommended changed the oil every 200 miles "since it's a dirt bike engine".
    You're saying at 600 then 4000 miles, which is what the book also say. Yamaha said every 200 miles. Just want to put this out there, if anybody ever has any issue with the bike and warranty.

      Wow, that's really surprising to hear. Thanks for the insight.

      They scammed you. This bike doesn't have a race engine, and unless you ride the red line all the time, there's no way it needs the oil changed every 200 miles.

    Cool video, very handy.
    Question: Should I go for synthetic or semi synthetic oil on these tdubs?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Thanks! It's really your choice when it comes to synthetic or semi synthetic as long as it meets Yamaha's specifications. Keeping up with oil changes will be more important than if you run synthetic or semi synthetic.

    You kit does not go down to 1988. Can I use the same kit?

      Thankfully the part numbers match up, so you can use it on your 1988 model.

    Why 10/40 and not the 20/50 AP Yamaha oil?

    Is 10w40 motor oil good for all temperature and riding conditions?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Yes, that is a good general purpose oil. Yamaha lists 10W-40 oil for temperatures between 10 and 110 degrees.

    Why is the original filter different than the replacement? The replacement is just pleated paper, the original is just a brass mesh???

    I love this bike, I've been on fence about skid plates but definitely ordering the Tusk plate I see on your bike. Thanks for video.

    One suggestion - spend a little bit more time explaining which way to install the oil filter. I think a lot of people will wonder what you mean wehen you say "open side end out". I know, but I would not from watching this. Otherwise - good video.
