  • I love a retro Cannondale. Those Made in the USA stickers, smooth welds, perfect paint, even 2 decades later. I love Lefty and Headshox and all the Cannondale nonsense that drives most mechanics insane.
This is just a fun video of me enjoying the old tech of the Cannondale Jekyll and the mad adjustable geometry and fatty headshox.

I would love to try this kind of fork in gravel, BMC URS has a similar one, as well as Decathlon's trekking Elops 900LD.

Cannondale did both cross bike and road bike frames with headshock. They were ahead of their time.

Such fun bike to ride on the trails! The single pivot made it an easy and relatively simple bike for beginners or those making the switch from hardtail to dual suspension. From what I remember, the Jekyll liked to hop and jump. My experience with them was with a rental fleet. The rear shocks seemed to be a high wear item, and there was always the issue of the seatpost possibly impacting and causing damage.

    Awesome bike 😊
I would rather own that bike, than any road, gravel, cyclocross...
You can ride that bike anywhere!
    Anywhere!
    Greetings from Croatia 😎

I loved servicing the Headshock System... not self explaining how to reassemble after servicing the bearings and Blades (Anti DIY Construction😉)
But when you have the Knowledge and Tools! it's easy and a nearly undestructible... Construct. It runs soo smooth, stiffer than mostly anything else and the Integration with the frame Design 👀
Nowadays it really looks funny. Such steep Angles and short Wheelbase.
I shurly prefer the Geometry of modern Bikes but these Jekylls where really slick looking.
Thx a lot for the Flashback 😂
    Keep on rolling ✊😎🤙

There was a limited completely polished SE Version for 9.999,. € where you got a seperat Wheelset in 28" and Road Tyres. They even polished the XTR Group including the STI's!
It was one of the coolest looking things ever 😎
If you have that bike today and put a Gravel Handlebar on it....

Used to stand and admire the Cannondale with headshox in the Edinburgh Bike Coop window everyday when I lived beside the shop c.2000. Would have loved one.

I just bought an old, American-made CAAD4 for 250 Euros in almost immaculate condition. Only the Campag-shifters, cables and bar tape needed a little love, but I wanted to replace the handlebar for a modern one anyway. The quality of the frame is awesome! I'm secretly looking for another one... 😬

It hasn't had a hard life to be honest. I guess the seals are still lubed up ok. I've never opened it up or serviced it. My dad is using indoors as a trainer bike at the moment

2:20 It's still widely used, but only for the rear on mountain bike frames it seems. But for forks it's no longer used.

3:14 If the shock is done you could get a a rigid rod machined for it. I don't think you can get Straitline Quickie Stiffie in this size, as it was an 1st april fools joke. but I see Cervelo new XC race bike has a 3 bolt placeholder to make the FS bike a hardtail.
