The American military just shows up and improvises. This is much truer than people may think. For all the planning and training that goes into operations, what it really comes down to is the initiative that the soldiers are allowed to display to complete their objectives. A lot of militaries don’t like initiative in soldiers, they would rather their soldiers only obey orders and that’s it.
There is a genius in the American military’s capability to adapt to anything and think up solutions.

i will quote a phrase i found in a short story concerning military operations at the small unit level. "Act like the universe make sense, even if everything around you is going to shit. Then do the first right thing available to you. Keep doing that until , either you run out of things to do , or you are dead.
I have found that the single best ability or skill in life , is to be able to remain calm and work the problem , while everyone else around you is loosing their shit.
This seems to me , to be the correct path for those of us who make their way in life , un-fucking other peoples problems.
And the job aint done till you clean up the site and finish the paper work.
