    My favorite one was the Anonymous statue! I heard that if you're about to write your thesis or a book, touch its pen and it will bring you good luck :) Can't wait to come back next month, I adored this city!

    I think my favourite ones are the statue of Anonymus and the one of Queen Erzsébet on Döbrentei tér ... And I have mixed feelings of the Statue of Liberty on Gellért hill, I like the statue but I can only still see it in the configuration of the day flanked by Russian soldiers. Oh, and the statue in Kossuth tér metró station of Teiresziász and his helper dog (did I ever tell you I love dogs?). The most impressive and emotional though for me is the Cipők a Duna Parton (shoes on the Danube embankment), I always light a candle there in commemoration of all that have suffered from oppression.

      There are just sooo many nice statues in Budapest that we couldn't cover... I personally like statues which have a bit of back story or different meaning. Historical Figures on Horses and being all glorious is nice but not my favorites, but ones that are clearly showing art, metaphor or some sort of an interesting history are the ones I enjoy the most :) Regarding Gellért, the statue there in all honesty is the least interesting, the view from the mountain is the clear star for me :)

    I have one more idea for your next video. Why don't you talk about országbérlet? :))
    Since the scheme will be change tomorrow and I am afraid that I'll get penalty for not buying the necessary additional ticket, this topic will be really useful for us foreigner

      Unfortunately as far as I know, it is still missing 😢 not sure if Mr Kolodko will ever replace it.

    so I have found this colorado beetle statue on google, from Hungary, Hédervár. For who knows what kind of reasons, somebody thought it was a good idea to immortalise a pest insect, probably having another kind of knowledge of it.

    • @StuffedCabbageAdventures
      @StuffedCabbageAdventures  Před 4 měsíci

      There is actually a board closeby explaining that the bug is not to be praised by the statue but to raise awareness of harmful pests that can be brought into the country accidentally. The Colorado beetle was ravaging potato farming and was first sighted in Hédervár (side note : I was never there in Hédervár, but I found this information after a quick research :))

    A question I ask: Do you know whose statue is represented in this video at 10:04? I know!

  • @forogafold
    @forogafold Před 11 měsíci

    What you're presenting and describing in this video, are sculptures. Some of them are statues.

    • @StuffedCabbageAdventures
      @StuffedCabbageAdventures  Před 11 měsíci

      I won't lie, previously I was also wondering about the difference because to me most of them are "szobor". But now that you pointed out, I looked up the difference and indeed some of these fall mostly under the category of sculpture. I have learned something new yet again 😊 however I hope that calling all of them statues won't cause too much confusion for people ☺️

    I appreciate your videos about Hungary but I'm curious, as a Hungarian (Magyar) why do you not pronounce all words and names in the Hungarian language -- like Mátyás király? etc. It's difficult to listen to other videos where the narrator mispronounces every Magyar word so I wonder why you wouldn't pronounce them correctly.

    • @StuffedCabbageAdventures
      @StuffedCabbageAdventures  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hey there, we try to walk a fine balance when it comes to mentioning names and words either in Hungarian and English, and indeed we haven't figured out yet the perfect way 😅. Sometimes when we mention names in English it is because we hope it sticks better for the English speaking audience and if they wish to search for places on Google maps they can (like Fountain of King Matthias or St Stephens Basilica). 😊
