How to Create a More Beautiful World with Charles Eisenstein | Aubrey Marcus Podcast

  • In ten years of podcasting, this show with the legendary author and philosopher Charles Eisenstein might be my favorite. We discuss the myth of separation that has permeated our civilization, and the deep wounds of self-rejection that it has created. Then we build a new story, the story of interbeing, and how it can bring about The More Beautiful World Our Hearts Know Is Possible. This podcast will change the way you look at the world forever. Make sure you listen through to the end for an incredibly fable that brings me to tears every time I hear it.

I feel like I’m an alien to my friends because they say my views on death (that it’s something to be open to and look forward to) is morbid and scary. Or that we’re all one consciousness that is expressing itself through us individually as way out there and too woo woo. “You’ve done too much acid” they say, Yet I find that these views have allowed me to experience life so much more fully and truly fall in love with all of existence, the beautiful and grotesque.... the good and the evil. Without one, there is no dimension to the other, and in fact they are one together. So nice to see others share my views. Much love to all of you

I feel the same, and my friends feel the same about it too lol. And to me it's not even a woo woo thing. It just seems most true. Definitionally, there is no Me without other. No yin without yang.
And it's not that the self is an illusion in a direct sense. There is clearly an experience of a self. but understanding the self as just conceptual allows us to take trivial things less seriously. It's just an experience from a point of view given the tools we have available to extract physical information from our environment. That doesn't make life any less amazing or interesting, and provides a viewpoint that breeds humility and relatable-ness. Because we understand at base that we're all extremely similar, and from that realization we can come to a better understanding of how to treat others. Who are much like us.
Our scientific program has skewed people immeasurably towards the idea of separateness. But I think the 21st century may start to uncover some profound truths.

Great talk! I wish more people would go to this level of exploration. Almost everyone I know just seems obsessed with Netflix, football and photo filters. Tried exploring some of the topic of interconnectedness with my family-in-law who are religious but their idea of God is literally a judgy man with a beard..and that's it. Oh well, it was worth a try.
Maybe it's supposed to be that way and society should be fragmented..I don't know. I'm grateful more and more people ARE starting to listening to these type of discussions!

This is one of my favourite talks of the year!
You guys explored so much of what I have discovered on my own journey over the last two years, as well as heaps that I haven’t but fully resonated with!
I have attempted to share this video with lots of friends, but I also have learned over the years, that just because something resonates inside you, gets you so excited, fills you full of hope and energy, doesn’t mean that they will be at that point in their lives yet.
As humans we naturally want to share things that are beautiful, that open us up, that bring us home, we want to have others feel that same way.
But now I have discovered that it’s baby steps, one interaction at a time, also being a loving breathing example of what you hope they will see.
You guys are totally amazing, exactly what this world needs right now! :)
I’m just about to lose both my jobs due to Covid mandates and I’m feeling the happiest, most connected, most grateful and most authentic that I have ever felt in my life.
Life is an amazing gift! 🍄🍄🌸🌞🌚💫🍄🍄

  • @lunasnowyowl1919
    @lunasnowyowl1919 Před rokem

My name is Leslie, Im a new viewer of your podcast. Your vast selection of guests have actually allowed me to be lead by the source to hear the message that I've waited 52 years to hear, my purpose. As a child I was extremely introverted and fearful,as if I knew earth was a place I should fear. My teachers assumed I had learning disabilities die to my behavior, only to find my LbS was in the gifted to genius status. Which they became obsessed with, causing me to become more withdrawn. I've never wanted attention, good or bad. I have always just wanted to be. To help others at any time, and knew the little things mattered.
I knew at some point I could help the whole, but as my life accrued more years, and I gathered more scars than my skin could hold. It was because of my deteriorated belief in who I truelly was. Even when so many others would grasp at me as if I was the glass of water that would save their life, it scared me and I would pull back.
Then I entered the cumulitive crisis of this lifetime. I couldn't pretend that being successful at society's game wasn't costing me something more precious, that I knew I couldn't give up. So the phase of judgement and labeling came, and all of the lessons with it, was my intent pure, were my decision s bad ones, was I capable of being honest with myself enough to see the true balance of blame, causation, etc. I had bought into playing fears game. And got into a defensive stance, completely negating my being. Allowing lose of my most charished beings, my children, to wash over my truth, and smother me into submission. I believed I had nothing to offer anyone, ever again .
So what i perceived as falling into drugs, the wrong path, was actually the way I would meet a man that would have the opportunity, and means to offer me a 28 day journey on DMT, that would show me the truth. The reason why I had to learn about judgement in such a harsh way, when I've never intended harm to anyone. I've given to the point of having literally just my breathe, and another wanting to take it from me. And still saw why they felt the need to take it. And with DMT, saw myself finally as I am. A god, with a heavey responsibility to others that life us all into a more peaceful acceptance of individual truth. Being a group that is in opposition of itself. That can only find relief by accepting others for the gifts they have, and not looking thru fearful eyes, then looking within to find their own truth, and making a choice of their actions coming from love or fear, and understanding if the intent is true there's no need for judgement of self or others, it simply is what it is, and we know what we know, when we know.
No one knows it all, without knowing nothing. We need each other to become the truth we left behind. We can invest our energy which is limitless, and our time which is not, into accepting what's outside of ourselves, to learn how to better what's inside ourselves, to become the truest part that is left behind for the next to use on theire path.
Thank you for being a light the whole/source used thru you to help me find my truth. My strength to leave for another to fund their way.

What Charles says from 21:26 is quite possibly the most profound and important thing to hear right now. He seems to be touching here on the very key, the very root, the very source of the un-sanity and harm we are creating for ourselves and each other. These sentences from 21:26 need to be framed and put on a wall in every public location. This is the key to unlock the kingdom!!
Besidez that, Charles is most wise, authentic and caring person I've ever come across (yet with no vanity or arrogance or ego inflation like some other people who are head-smart but heart-poor. Charles is rich in both the head and most importantly, in the heart, and that makes all the difference.
Humbleness, heart-centerdness, the capacity for love and curiosity (which means lack of arrogance and not thinking one knows it all because of a concept in one's head) are the qualities that will save humanity from the precipice that ego arrogance and the immature chase after image, money, power and prestige has brought us into (NOT shallow conceptual cleverness or vain arrogance or muscles or "being right". Love and an open heart is truly the only answer. The only thing that truly matters in this world. All the rest is vanity and chasing after phantoms (of power, wealth, adoration, images, sex) in the hope that these phantoms will deliver tge love and acceptance that we all so deeply yearn for. They won't... They can't deliver that, all they can give is momentary fleeting pleasure that is here one moment and gone the next
The greatest journey any human can tzke in this life seems to me loke the journey from the head to the heart, the journey from the concepts and habits (that we adopted from an immature unconscious rotten conservative capitalist society) back to my true authentic self..

Anyone know what kind those are (of course I will also Google it but figured I’d ask on here too). From the swamps of Deep South Georgia USA, much peace, light, love and positive energy to all ya’ll. Mind totally blown... ) and he also has a blog where he publishes some really profound writings, and he started an entire off-facebook social network called NAAS (new and ancient story) which already has many thousands of people on it.. I just love this guy, his deep observation capacities, profound wisdom and integrity and care and love, he feels like my soul brother..

Gourmet food for heart n mind -goes down easy via this calm humble conversatiin style - enriching to the core. And, the allegory at the end is truly encouraging to me (I suspect to many) especially in these times when we can't gather (Melbourne 🇦🇺 in full lockdown again). I have full faith as you do, and thank you deeply for this, at a perfect time 🙏 ❤

WoW , this has been so inspiring to me, and so much what I need now especially to keep faith and hope for humanity .I don.t know how to thank you enough for sharing all this with us. I have Charles' book, haven't read it all yet , it is sometimes hard to make a bridge between those great words and ideas and the everyday reality, but that story at the end helps a lot and it's so soothing to know that il can read it over and over as needed ! Thanks a million 🙏💜
