A year later after the hype…Is it that much better than connecting a PS5 controller via Bluetooth and using remote play?
Yeah except Backone sneaks in the fact that their features and app are locked behind a paywall called Backbone +, which isn't advertised at all and you only find out about after you buy the controller. $50 a year after a whoopie free year. Be aware! Hopefully Apple does make their own soon!
Backbone+ isn’t required for it to actually function as a controller.
I have the Razer Kishi, it’s just as good, operates the same way, and doesn’t do that!

I know and it sucks. Thankfully I got mine before they added that paywall so I have a lifetime membership. Granted the controller works fine without those extra features
I bought it when it came out. Only thing is … first party support by Apple would be great, and the lightning connect being more flexible (little compartment with spring or small portion of cable) over the fixed position would be great. I have to remove the case because the lightning connector requires a "tight" fit… not the clamp… only the position of the connector.
Having to remove the case(when I have a tight fitting protection case - due to work) completely puts me off this sadly, otherwise it looks fantastic

Just picked one of these up (the second gen with USB-c). Now that Apple is allowing emulators on iOS, these are even more useful.

The adaptor makes it slant. I do not like that in a $100 controller. I think it’s important not to ignore.
It is a great controller as I have it. Also using wired headphones is best because Bluetooth audio has far too much lag for games meaning stuff will be delayed so that's why they provided a headphone jack. You should play audio wired as that's for the best experience

From my view, that's a pretty smart move and cool design for the future of gaming. Especially when you have the flexible and compatible to play your games anywhere at anytime. You don't even need any type of TV connection, just only your smartphone. With this Backbone controller, no need to buy a $500+ gaming console!

just upgraded to the new iPhone 14 pro max and will defiantly get one of these i had one before but sadly it got lost when i moved but i guess that's an excuse to get the new PlayStation version

Definitely not the best controller. It looks great but the joysticks are small, like the joycons. I would much rather use the razer kishi because of the bigger joysticks and bigger buttons. But yea, hopefully apple releases their own iphone controller.
They do have one it’s callled the steel series or something like that. Kinda wack tho it’s one of those that you have to mount the phone onto controller. Not too good. Returned it and got the kishi for iPhone and it’s the best I’ve tried.

I got the gamesir X2 Bluetooth and I think it’s better because you can use it with your ipad or apple tv as a controller too.
In my opinion this is still better. For an apple TV a console controller is far better to use. Plus you can use the back bone with other devices wired but you need the subscription to do that.

I have no idea y they offset the joystick one up n one down which makes it awkward and it takes time to get used too.. if anything Bluetooth the ps3 or ps4 controller it’s much btr
How thick does the phone have to be in order to correctly mount on the controller? I heard it can’t hold one if there’s a case that’s too thick.
Your not supposed to put it on with a case, it’s like a case itself so why would you pus it while you have a case on your phone

You actually can’t map custom layout on cod mobile and I’m guessing his “skin” is a bit smaller than my otterbox case

Cause I bought a one ps5 controller holder for both iPhone and the controller but the iPhone 13 pro max is so heavy and I couldn’t play an entire apex game cause it was hurting… the iPhone is insane heavy! I think the only flaw is that you can't attach a phone cooler on the back due to the way the back support bar stretches across the back of the device. That's probably the only flaw I see, given the heating issues of iPhones and gaming.

BROOOO SAAAAAAAAME!!! I hate that it’s not ported to switch yet and with all the leaks I’ve been seeing it’s not going to happen anytime soon. No. In my experience none of them do that. They either emulate the Xbox layout or they do the nintendo layout. What would having playstation layout do differently besides stick placement?

Get you the gamesir x2 for iPhone you might have to get use to the button layout and triggers both have the Nintendo switch style but you are able to use it with your case on it

Why would a skin prevent something from it connecting to a lightning port? The Razer Kishi is great, works the same way as this Backbone does.

This is unnecessary to me what a lot of people don’t know is that you don’t need this to play Ps4 or ps5 on mobile. If you have ps remote play on your phone and just hold the ps button and share button at the same time for a couple seconds you can pair your ps4 or 5 controller to your phone via Bluetooth and play the same way. I think I just saved a few people $100. Thank me later but don’t waste your money on this if you can easily do it with what you already have. Not necessary
The freaking buttons and the right analog were trash imo. I might return it.
