- The Revell 69 Pontiac GTO Build Finale.
So again, the parts count isn’t huge, but the details are. This kit is loaded with great detail. The fit is also top notch. I didn’t have to change, struggle, or modify anything with this kit. It fell together. The engine needed a coil, but that was it (and I’m surprised it didn’t have one) The interior has all the details you could ask for and it’s a one-piece tub. The chassis looks fantastic as does the classic GTO body. The glass didn’t even need glued in, it snapped into locator pins and held tight. Shoot, even the mirror dropped into perfect place. I love this kit, and someday will do another one for sure.
The video I made, although short, may have the best music montage I’ve done yet. The music is perfect for this car, and I sure had fun cutting it.

"Flip", in honor of Flip Wilson, da judge, on the license plate would be interesting.
You ought to enter this one in model shows. It's VERY good!
I was thinking Flip too, but not sure if I want a hot rod called Flip. LOL Thanks for the kind words, if I can ever get to a show I'll for sure bring this and the Cadillac with me.
@@grandpamarkshobbiesI always put rear side windows on all my cars. I use the clear acetate from packaging for the glass. You do great builds. Keep up the good work. I did that Judge about 26 years ago. Lol. Is that the 1/24 th scale? Mine is dated 1998 kit number 85-2443.
This came with the back windows, but it was 90 degrees outside so I opened them all. LOL
As Flip Wilson's character Geraldine said, "Here come de Judge! Here come de Judge! Better watch out 'cause here come de Judge!" 😅
A very nice job! 😊
I'm cracking up. I forgot about the end "Better watch out. . . " Cracked me up.
Reading the comments I'm reminded of seeing Sammy Davis Jr. on Laugh In saying: "you can carry a pail, you can carry a grudge, but you can't carry on 'cause here come da judge".
LOL. I remember that!!!!! Funny as heck.
She turned out Great!!! Nicely Done Mark!!!! Love old school Monogram kits. Thanks for sharing
Thank you. I have to say that the old Monogram kits were well done.
Hi Grandpa, the Pontiac has turned out absolutely fantastic, I am not really a car modeller but can grestly appreciate the work you have pug into this excellent build, best regards from Australia, Les
Les, knowing you aren't a model guy and still like the build means a lot to me. Thank you very much.
Another awesome build Mark. Your weathering is so great. Your all around modeling skills are so great. I’m glad to be a member of your Facebook group and I’m glad to finally be back to building again.
Thank you. I'm glad you are back at it again.
That engine looks so realistic. All around the usual great job.
Thank you very much. It is a great kit.
Extra nice Mark. I wasn't really a "Judge" person before but now, I've gotta build one. You've 'turned' me! Love your interiors & engines/bays too. Thanks buddy, you take care
You know what, comments like this really make my day. Thank you very much.
Da Judge for the plate. Mark another awesome build. Hey need I say more? Your talents are showing again my man. The detail is, I have no words. Perfect is about it. Just one little thing - windshield wipers. Could have done them, probably forgot, that's allowed. Great video finally. Your filming, videoing are superb. Could not be better. Thanks so much. Looking forward to the next project Mark.
Thank you. I did forget to detail the wipers. I noticed it when I was editing the video. They are done now. LOL I'm happy with the black mat and the video area that I'm working on. It will be getting better soon.
KkOoL Intro: beautiful paint finish I love the color The (engine) bay looks and of course, the interior looks awesome and the decal placements are perfect. USA license plate. Great Build excellent work. Big thumbs up.👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you very much.
What a great build. Always loved those GTO judges and you have done it proud. License plate suggestion, YHONNA as in your honor. I know it's bad !
Thank you very much. I like that plate name.
That is a fantastic build. Great looking, awesome detail. I also like your method of painting the battery caps👍
Thank you very much. The guy that showed me that was more than likely the age I am now. But I was probably 12 or 13 when he showed me that.
Love the paint. Spot on . First car was a 68 Lemans. Very nice build.
Thank you very much. My brother hand a Lemans. I loved that car.
That's a beautiful GTO... awesome work Mark!
Thank you very much.
Nice build. There’s a lot of good plate suggestions, another could be “V8 JUSTICE”
Thank you, and I may shorten that to just JUSTICE I like that.
@@grandpamarkshobbies Awesome! Glad you liked it.
I finally got to view this Super nice build. Great to follow this on the FB side as well! Again you rocked this Kit to the top!! See Ya in the shop!!
Thank you. It was a real fun kit to build. No problems with it at all.
Very cool. The ending ties it all together very well love the battery detail. So cool thanks for the video
Thank you very much. I think I'll be using that music more often.
Great build great detail of the engine bay great tips of building the kit thank u for sharing keep on building
Thank you very much. It was a real fun kit to build. Lots of molded in details.
Awesome vid as always Gramps. She turned out beautiful, color I think was spot on😁 Love all the details ya did, spectacular build.
Thank you very much. I really liked this kit. The details were all there, and not that hard to do.
Another incredible build!!!!!
Thank you very much.
What are beautiful job you did on the assembling this kit 👍👍
Thank you very much.
Looks great! A very fine kit indeed, you made it look easy as well. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much. To give credit where credit is due, this kit is very well designed.
Looks fantastic Mark, great job.
Thank you very much.
Beautiful beautiful build
Thank you very much.
Turned out very nice Mark, great build!
Thank you very much.
Looks great. Nice job. Have a great weekend!!
Thank you very much, and you have a great one too.
Very nice build! Great details. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much.
That looks really nice, Mark!
Thank you very much.
All I Can Say That Is GREAT As All Way;s SIR
Thank you. I loved building this kit.
Beautiful build, just as I thought it would be. Jeanine for the license plate. I hope you get it!
Thank you very much. I laughed over Jeanine.
Thanks for sharing. There was this guy when I was a kid had 2 of them one that color and another that was white.
Thank you. I think I like the idea of a white GTO. was the interior white too? That would be a lot. I think a white car black interior and a vinyl roof would look amazing, but it would still need the Judge spoiler and decals.
Sounds like you had a lot of fun building her ------ very few ----- if any problems ----- that's always a plus ------ The car looks real good with a lot of detail going into it ---------- Tell you what -------- I 'll give you and your Crew some time to shake out any problems she may have --- being a brand new build ------ there could be some ------ We can meet at your local drag strip ------- and run for the Pinks ------ Should be a good race ---- you with the Ram Air 1V making 370 HP ------ 4-speed ----- coming in at 4,000 lbs. ------- I'll bring my '56 Pontiac 2Dr. Post ----- with a 455 Cu. Rodney, Thank you very much. I may take you up on that track date. Give me and the crew a few days to wring her out and change the oil. I'd love to see what she could do. I do think that 56 may eat her for breakfast though. LOL Have a great weekend.
thanks for sharing your video.your model is looking good.im glad mine's done also from last month.later on down the line I might buy another one.
Thank you very much. Someday I'd like to do one with a white interior. Maybe green.
That’s sweet! I watched it on TV so I see all the details. How about Flip for the license plate. Flip Wilson did the Judge on Laugh In, and I think there was a tie in to the car. Great job as always!!
Thank you very much. Flip Wilson was the inspiration for the Judge. I just have a hard time calling a hotrod "Flip" LOL No, seriously, I'll most likely use that.
Great video the judge came out right still trying to think of a name for the license plate 👍🏿
Thank you very much. I've been struggling with the plates since I opened the box.
Beautiful. 🏁
Thank you very much.
You do such great work they always look so good and real.
Thank you very much.
Turned out great Mark
Thank you very much.
Very freaking cool, Mark! Excellent build!
Thank you very much.
Awesome build Mark
Thank you very much.
That turned out beautiful!
Thank you very much.
Mark you went and did it again.i bought the firebird now i gotta have a judge . outstanding build my friend.!
LOL. I think you will like it as much as the Firebird.
It's truly amazing work you do there👏👏
Thank you very much. The kit lends to all the great detail. Low parts count, but it's all there.
Similar thing happened to the hood decal on the recent amt 1970 corvette kit. Broke up in one section and challenged me to get the pieces back together as best I could
That stinks. These broke up into tiny little pieces.
Nice build. I been watching the updates. It really turned out awesome
Thank you very much. I had a lot of fun with this.
It turned out pretty nice. A little to Orange to be Carousel Red, you can see the stripe and "The Judge" sticker borders disappear in the color.
Thank you. I think you may be right. Almost had it. LOL
Sweet how do you make the hose clamps
The hose clamps on this kit were molded in. But when they aren't I will wrap the hose with some .3mm solder and tack it in place with super glue. Then I paint the solder and that area of hose with flat aluminum. After that dries (A day or so later) I'll paint all the way up to the solder with rubber black. It's easy to do and looks good. Just remember where the top side and bottom side of the hose is and put the cut part of the solder on the side that you can't see. (I'll make a video next hose that doesn't have one)
Nice build......!!!
Thank you very much.
Awesome looking build
Thank you very much.
Beautiful build Mark! I bought some of the clear coat, I can't wait to try it! I'm going to name my GTO LAUGH N! 😎👍
I think you will like that clear. I like that plate LAUGH N. that's a good one too.
Feel free to use that on your plate!@@grandpamarkshobbies
I am putting a lot of them on Publisher and then I may just close my eyes and pick. LOL
You're absolutely right: You might not see it but I (know) it's there.🤣 That was kinda funny to me because I do stuff that no one will see unless I show them.. Nice job Brother , your motor is amazingly realistic.. Overall great work , she came out fantastic.. 👍 I see you at the next one. Stay Safe out there.. 🙏. ( Judgement ) - Too long for a plate though.🤔
Thank you very much. Yeah, I hide a lot of things that I know are there. Linkage springs, throttle cables, all kinds of stuff. But don't you know, I was so excited to get that coil painted that I forgot to run the two wires to it. LOL
@@grandpamarkshobbies 🤣😂🤣😂 It happens my friend.
Cool model. 👍
Thank you. It really is.
Lisence plate... GREAT1
I like that. But I may use that on a T-Bird that I'm going to be building.
Thank you for the great tips!
You are very welcome. I'm glad to pass them along.
Great looking build! I seem to have fitment issue with both the exhaust system and drive shafts. More so with AMT kits. Yours looks great
Thank you. I am right there with you. My biggest problem with the drive shaft is I keep leaving it on the table when I already have the engine and rear end in place. LOL I also struggle with the exhaust manifolds and headers. They always seem just a bit out of line so the exhaust pipes don't line up right. This one has a very positive wedge kind of alignment thing on the exhaust manifolds that make it only line up one way. That made those pipes fit perfectly.
Wicked nice build! How 'bout "ALL RISE" for the plate...?
Thank you, and ALL RISE may be the one I use. I really like that.
Nice build 😁
Thank you.
@@grandpamarkshobbies your welcome 😁
Guilty for license plate
I like that!!!!
❤
Thank you.
Great build, looks good. Question for you. All that detail in the engine bay, but no electricity going to the coil?
Thank you. You know what, that coil was very VERY last minute. I got the body on and was running all the wires when I realized that there was no coil. Then I scrambled to find one, painted it, got it on and the wire in place, and didn't even think of the power going to it until I was making the video. LOL Next one will have it for sure.
The video and car turned out awesome! Yep I did love the ending and the music wa awesome as well....
So I kept looking at that color on the body and I'm almost sure that is real real close to Apple Barrel's " Jack-O-Lantern" acrylic paint. I used that on my Jeep I did for Chris Chapman's GB last year! I know I only have one half a good eye, I just knew that I seen that color somewhere... Lol (See the Jeep)
Say try FolkArts Multi-Surface "Satin #2934 Licorice Regusse" I think I got it at HL. They don't make the Licorice enamel any more and that bottle is as old as yours... 😁
I told ya you would be done way before me and I haven't even got anything together..LOL I'm Thinking Sky Blue as I didn't want the Orange but I might change my mind (Again)... 🤪
LLAP 🖖
P.S. Daisy
Thank you Bruce. I just saw you have another video up. I'll be checking that out tonight for sure. That music is awesome for stuff like this. You know what, I think it is real close to that jeep. The more I use that acrylics the more I want to get more of them. Should I be keeping away from the acrylics that aren't Multi-Surface? I still have more than half that bottle, and it has to be twenty five years old. It covers like Anti-Seize. One drop will cover a house. LOL I couldn't keep away from this kit, and there were two rain day weekend days in this where I'll bet I had 9 hours each day. LOL I didn't think of Daisy for a plate, but now that you brought it up I have a car that I'm going to save that one for. I'll see you on your vid. Have a good one my friend.
@@grandpamarkshobbies I use a bit of everything that is acrylics, I just mentioned Multi-Surface because that is what was on the label... I go to HL in the back aile and just buy acrylic paint and later I find something to put it on. Really that is what I do! I don't get the kit and then look for paint, I have paint and I make it for a model... Lol I don't paint period correct or what was on that year of car I just paint it how I see it in my head, which is a scary place at times... Lol
Daisy was my last female dogs name and it popped in my head when you asked the question... That simple but use it as you like... 😁
I had to return some parts to O'Reilly so I got some Dupl-color primer in exchange and I finally got all the 3 kits primered so I can finish them, Now there all 2 more weeks behind and the 2 Fairlanes are sp far behind there not talking to me anymore... 😥🤣
LLAP 🖖
@@grandpamarkshobbies I just replied to this this morning and now it is a YT drive by! GONE!
I just mentioned Multi-Surface cause it was on the bottle.. Lol I just use what I get from HL... Lol I just buy paint and find a car to use it on... 😁
LLAP 🖖
That is a great way to find a build. LOL Thank you .
@@grandpamarkshobbies Oh great, look the first reply shows up now...
That’s awesome was wondering what you use for rad hoses, fuel, brake and battery cables
I use .3mm solder for the smaller stuff, .8mm for the medium stuff, and for radiator hoses I use Romex that I strip off the insulation
@@grandpamarkshobbies thank you for the info. Keep building those awesome builds
Thank you very much. Will do.
What size Romex wire 12/2 14/2
I'm sorry, 12/2.
How about JUDGN U?
I really like that.
amazing model well done a ? what is the differance between tamiya flt black and art deco flt black Cheers😊
Thank you very much. That is an outstanding question, and one that I will cover in a video next time I use it. The art deco paint can be brushed on so smoothly that it almost looks sprayed. (I know you can see brush marks in the videos and pictures, but it doesn't look like that in person) It does not stick hard to the Tamiya paint, so when you are working close to a finished color or chrome you can usually remove mistakes with a q-tip or a toothpick. And it takes Quick Shine very well. I can paint the whole under side of a car with the art deco, then come back and highlight the frame rails with Quick Shine and they end up a perfect semigloss giving a distinct separation between the frame and the chassis. Now don't get me wrong. the art deco is no where near as durable as the Tamiya paints, so I don't use it on anything that will be handled unless I plan on clear coating over it to make it semigloss. Like I did with the GTO. I painted the front and back of the engine bay with the art deco because if I made a mistake it would be removable off the orange. Then I clear coated it to make it more durable and match the semigloss of the sides. Wow did this end up longer than I wanted, but I wanted to make sure that you know it's not a fix all do all, but it sure has a place. Also that cinnamon art deco works great as dirt when I dry brushed it on the chassis. It is going to be my go too for weathering chassis for now on.
@@grandpamarkshobbies Thanks for the reply very interesting and I will investergate further but I'm so impressed with your model and will look forward to your next video.
Thank you very much.
