I’ve had a lot of people ask me to give a tour of my shop. Well now that it’s moved into my new room, I decided this would be an opportune time. So, grab some popcorn, maybe a cold beverage and enjoy the tour.

Haha well organized for a hoarder like me. I got also 2 old desks from a charity shop for the unheared price of €15,- or $15,- Make a paintrack myself for tamiya and Green World Stuff paints. 1 Big open box with primer and the 2 K Clear cans and 1 plastic container with my bottles Zere and Spash paints. A few empty icecream plastic boxes for my files,sandingstuff,knifes and small tools. 1 Big " litre Glaas jar for the handbrushes and a selfmade standard for 4 airbrushes. That is iot. More i don,t keed. Ahh yes my Handmakes paintbooth made from a 2th hand kitchen extractor. Total worth in materials inc Led strips about $35,- and 1 hour of build.
I'll tell you straight up, there's nothing better than the things that are hand built, or found to fit what we need. Just like what you've done, that's the best way to do it.
@@grandpamarkshobbies very true with that. Just a pair of expensive shoes don.t make you a good dancer. And for me the surch,the find,the haggeling about the price makes it even more fun and appreciated what we got
That is a great analogy. I do like to haggle. LOL
That desk is very similar to one I had in my prior home. A work buddy had given it to me. It was too heavy to bring to my current home. Luckily it didn't have that typewriter spring platform. I used it as my ammo handloading table, as that was my main hobby at the time. 😎👍
I LOVE that desk. It is so stable. I like to lean my forearms on it while I paint, and it does not move at all.

For sure. It's taken me a long time to train myself to put things back where they go instead of just dropping them onto the desk and going to the next step.
That is a really nice work area. I think that desk would survive the apocalypse. 😅

Cool Mark - thanks. Your're going to have to make another video once everything is in place. Wish I had the room you do. I think you may want to build a table with a 4X8 plywood screwed down on it or on a couple (3) saw horses with 2X4's around it for warpage for the gas station and McD's if you have that much room behind you. A nice painted back drop too. Wish you would have turned around to show where the town will go. Next time maybe...

Thank you. Yes, I will most likely have a 4foot by six foot table for the station. If I turned around there would have been a stack of totes that have to move out so I can get the station set up. LOL

Well looks like you have a great place to work in. I am now suitably chastised, So I'll be spending tomarrow (OK the rest of the week)😏 reorganizing my -mess- er, Bench, its long overdue.

Back in an older house we owned I had a model RR in an upstairs room with one of those huge metal desk, was a great to build on, when we moved I left it there.. Was too heavy to do that again lol. Great workspace Mark, nice organization..
It is a beast for sure, but so much real state that I would have a hard time setting up without it now.
I wish I was that organized. The move from California has been a challenge to get reorganized.

Awesome video and hobby room Mark... I know that desk inside and out. I had one for years that I got when I worked at a school and they were giving them away. You did not mention that they weigh a ton! Lol When I moved down here I left it in the basement where I had it because I did not have room for it in the truck. Wish I still had that thing... Lol

LOL. It does have some weight to it. I try real hard to keep things clean. If I don't I'll never find it again. Right now I know right where things go. Now don't get me wrong. When I'm building there will be a sanding stick, file, knife, paper towel, and all the parts stuffed in that little empty spot. It does get a bit closed in when I first start a new build. LOL

I wish I had one of those government desks and a couple of the Emeco chairs that go with it, the durned things are built to survive armageddon.
I couldn't believe that they just left that here. It is awesome. Those old 4 post caster Oak chars were so nice. With the huge coil spring underneath so you could lean way back. Yep, those were great.
@@grandpamarkshobbies I meant the aluminum "Navy" chairs but those old Oak ones are cool as well.

I love those old metal desks, I started out on one like that and I still have an old Underwood typewriter and they are very heavy. For my workbench I'm using a old solid wood office desk I got when our office switched to particle board Ikea type desks. Looks like you're going to have a nice set up when you're done.
I was very lucky. It's hard to find these desks anymore. It's wide and deep.
Very cool gave me some head scratching ideas forgot all about the tooth pick dispenser. That’s going on order very soon. I will post a shop video soon. Need to declutter 😅. Thanks for sharing ready for the next one
Thank you. I have to admit that I love that toothpick dispenser, but the Q-Tip holder isn't worth it.

Hi Grandpa, that was a excellent tour of your work area, I have one desk which I try and keep tidy, but most times I do fail at that, I do want to re-make my Tamiya paint shelf, I would like to get a spray booth one day, I only use acrylics, bedt regards from Australia, Les
I totally understand how things get a bit messy quicker than I can guess. I will be upgrading my spray booth to something a bit more user friendly and I'll run the exhaust into a water bucket filter.
I've gotta say Mark ... looking up your schnoz was not what I was expecting to see when the video opened up! Holy nostrils Batman! LOL!!! I'm loving that old office desk!!! I have an old gray steel desk like that, but the tops aren't leather, more of a resilient rubber product, that resists spills and such ... it's pretty dang durable. Hey man, best to you with your new location!
LOL. Yeah, I just couldn't get a good angle. I always think of that top is like a big flat layer of hocky puck material. LOL
@@grandpamarkshobbies Yeah, pretty close to it. Remember, in these nice sturdy industrial type of work items, they were made - at one time at least - to be real kick-ass, tough items. It is hard to do them any real damage.
They really are able to take a lot. I work at a university in maintenance and you can sure see how nice these are compared to the junk that we get today.

Thank You for the --- New --- shop tour ----- in spotting how / where you paint your models ---- I'd like to know more on how you did it --- what you are using --- and the big thing ---- are the many fumes / over spray that gets on things around you ----- haven't done a spray booth yet --- and it would be inside in a enclosed room ----- So ---- I would like to see how you did yours ---- and what you are getting as over spray on to things around you ----- Hope you had a Good Memorial Day ---- Hope you have a Good Week also ------ Rodney
Thank you. First off, I do not use anything in the spray booth except Tamiya paints. Since I don't vent to the outside I am very cautious on what I'm doing. I also will be using a bucket filter that I'll be making this weekend. That will make sure I'm not making any dust. My spray booth (for now because I'm going to build one this summer) is nothing more than a big tote. I have a bathroom exhaust fan hooked up to the back (That's why I only spray acrylics I don't want to catch any vapors on fire) In front of the fan on the inside of the booth I have a 1 inch furnace filter that fits about 1 inch from the back and goes to all four sides. Then attached to the fan I have the fan hose. This will end up going into my filter bucket. (there are some good videos on CZcams on how to make them) I do not get any overspray as I work inside the tote and everything goes to the filter. The Tamiya paints don't really have a smell, but the airbrush cleaner kind of does. Not like lacquer paints or anything, just kind of a cleaning solution smell. All in all I think it's the best setup for me. I hope this helps.

The one I make this year will be a bit different, but mostly the same (if that makes any sense) It will allow more light and fit the filter better. I have to struggle with outside and time in the shop, so I totally get that.

Pretty nice setup. My work area is NOWHERE near that well organized.
It's taken me years to get it all set up like this. I do try very hard to keep it that way and to clean up after every work session.
@@grandpamarkshobbies Where as I have bodies, parts, tires, tools, paints, etc... all over the place. Sometimes, I'm more than a little surprised that I can find anything that I'm looking for on my bench. I REALLY need to clean it up and organized.
Best way I found to do that is to move the whole shop into another room. LOL I found things I didn't know I lost.

Thank you. I'll be honest, I have a few Star Wars kits, and huge Star Trek NG Enterprise, a 1/96 Constitution, and about 12 various car kits. Most of the car kits are in the typewriter drawer. Not a huge stash for sure. But I do have a few that are very cool. LOL

Have you seen the new airbrush's and dual compressor from Harbor Freight? The reviews are excellent. Evidently they are really hard to get. At the HF in Pocomoke, Maryland has both types of airbrushes and compressor in stock. They are the Black Widow brand.
I just checked out the instructions and it does have an interesting trigger. I'll keep my ear to the rail and see what people are saying about it.

I did, it was a long time ago. It was an old pickup truck. I also changed the spindles up front so it would sit lower in the front than in the back. It came out good.

There's still a bunch of things that have to come out of the room before I can bring everything in. I'll do an update when that happens. Most likely this fall.

What is LA assum ?
LA Awesome is a strong cleaner / degreaser that I get from the dollar store. I use it to strip chrome and paint off kit parts.
@3:56 what is 'pe'?
PE stands for Photo Etched. It is very thin metal parts that are all on a thin sheet of what I think is brass. It is for small thin parts like ships railing or fine mesh parts or things like that.
