Something really struck me, when Paul said he couldnt see anything on the way home at it was dark, I realised how brave he is. How he's slowly losing the last part of his sight must be scary and overwhelming and yet he's still able to be so kind and upbeat.
I think Paul is simply a kind and upbeat person at heart, but I also suspect his ability to share those qualities with such joyful exuberance may be enhanced by the presence of Matthew and Maple in his life. Matthew keeps him laughing and excited with goofball pranks and wonderful surprises like the Andrea Bocelli concert, and Mr. Maple gives him independence, a larger world, and a whole bunch of fluffy, dogly sweetness.

Paul is the Organisational Queen and I’m here for it.
The ANXIETY is real when you put food into a container and can’t find the corresponding lid.
I store the containers with their lids on.
Which is why I always corral the lid before I put the food into the container. I also make sure the lid fits correctly. You're right -- the anxiety is very real, but in my nearly 68 years of ongoing, nonstop anxiety, I've developed some work-arounds. Of course, they irritate others, but they keep me sane, so....
I'm so ridiculous! When I saw that Paul had his white cane for the performance, I thought Andrea Bocelli will be happy another blind person is there. Took me a while to realize that wouldn't happen (unless someone told him)! I love how in love you guys are!
Why should a blind person be happy to meet other blind people. To swap experiences maybe, that's not really making you happy.
It feels like, black people are happy to see a black singer ?
@@holger_pBlack woman here. When I am in a space that is 99.9% white, I do notice anyone who is black. It’s a feeling of familiarity (even though we are strangers). I feel less alone. Less “other”. It’s hard to explain exactly.

Of course, to end racism you have to feel familiar with just anybody.
Search things like same job, coming from same town, or both having kids, as a common ground. But not something like skin color.
I guess you do it, cause it's easy to see witout talking.
Now you see the problems of a pure white society, feeling lonesome in a room. They need to talk, to find similiarities.
I have a friend who lives in a fairly open minded city (San Fran), but still pretty white. Her daughter is Filipina/white but her skin color is more on the light Filipina side. When they visited me in Hawaii, her then about 8 yo daughter, excitedly told her mom in wonder that everyone here looked like her. 😄 Hawaii has such a large Asian population, she felt that she fit right in. 🥰🤣

Try a lad called Johnathan Antoine. Latest opera singer on the block. Tipped to be the next Pavarotti. He has the power and crucially, his voice conveys emotion like I have never heard before. Beautiful. ❤
He is on You Tube singing the Godfather Theme which is my favourite.
The noise I made when I read the title, it was high pitched and raspy 😂 Andrea is my favourite singer, the notes he can hit make it just a perfect symphony (pun intended)

I am SO jealous!!! I LOVE Andrea Boccelli!!! I first discovered him right after my eye condition was diagnosed, and I was amazed when I found out everything he does while being blind: slating, bicycling, windsurfing…he doesn’t let his vision loss stop him! He’s been so inspiring to me through the years as my vision has diminished. And his voice…it’s indescribably beautiful!
I can’t help but feel the excitement in your voice with every story and every time you speak to Matthew. What a great husband Matthew is. He is always thinking of ways to show his love for you and to give you all the surprises he does. I have such love and respect for you both. Sounds like you loved the concert.

My sis in law gave me 2 free tickets earlier this year to a concert of our favourite singers. My daughter and I went even though it was outside my comfort zone to go to a concert. It was amazing and I now understand the buzz people get from going to concerts. What an amazing present Matthew! And how amazing that you scored tickets for the 2nd row!! Honestly, the way Paul describes his experience sounds like visual stimming for me, just focusing in on one tiny thing and letting the rest of the experience wash over you. So for me it sounds like a very fun way to experience a concert. :)

I find it wholesome how Paul gets so excited and happy over organizing lids and how he thinks of it as a puzzle! I have some trouble seeing colors (not completely colorblind, I just have trouble telling some colors apart) and if I'm in a yarn aisle at a store I like comparing the colors to figure out what colors are which (normally with pink/red/orange/ and then with purple/blue/green and really any color with grey tones)
These 2 are so amazing because they show what true love is in 🏳️🌈 Communit and their loves to the whole world. ❤️

Paul, the most correct way to refer to our remaining vision is in DEGREES not percent. Percent is a comparison and not a measurement. Our Field Vision Tests are measured in degrees from the Central Point of vision. I would then suggest that out of a normal 180 degrees (one half a circle) horizontal vision. You maintain 5-10 degrees in the center of the circle. Best of luck. Paul. (I am down to only 1-2 degrees or remaining vision. since the middle circle is made of the highest concentration of cone, we can still detect motion and color. But because my acuity is normal at 20/30, I can see for one mile in that tiny circle. and like you, people accuse me of not being blind because I will mention something I see a mile away and yet trip over a toy on the ground 1 foot in front of me.)
There is an old saying in the RP community, I can see a pencil on the floor across the room, but trip over the elephant getting there.
Paul, I also fatigue of people telling me "here" and "There" instead of it is about 1 ft to your right or 3 ft ahead of you. At least try to give us some form of reference.
