I was a metal head in the early 90's, I had two older brothers - one of which hated U2, the other was more interested in Simple Minds. I was fortunate to get a ticket for a U2 gig at Slane (the one where Ireland beat Holland and McAteer scored that screamer, 2001?), anyway I have to say it was the greatest gig I've ever been at. I've seen U2 twice since and they are hands-down the best live act IMO. Nowadays i feel a lot of pride in U2, their artistic catalogue is phenomenal and honestly they don't get the respect they deserve. One thing is for sure, they will be missed when they finally call it a day.

I’m 17 years old. 2 years ago at the age of 15, I stumbled upon the song ‘Summer of Love’ from U2’s 2017 album songs of experience. I was immediately intrigued and went about listening to their discography from their Spotify page. The more I listened, the more impressed I got. I ended up falling in love with Sunday Bloody Sunday and their Joshua Tree album. I sought refuge through their music when I was going through a tough time, when both my parents were going through their own health problems - physically and mentally. I had to take leave from school for 2 months to care for them, all while catching up on my schoolwork. It was an especially difficult period for me and their beautiful music allowed me to calm myself from the most difficult part of my life so far. Sounds cliché, I know but I genuinely felt their music healed me.
Even after that year, my parents argued within each other, and I did too. I broke down many times. But each time I listened to U2’s music, I felt this sense of hope. This was the reason why I like Rock, a partial reason for me to transition from my classical music taste to Rock. I still do love classical music, but I love Rock because it evokes so much emotions, and allows me to expel them out, and to feel at ease.
I’ve moved from U2 to Green Day, and I absolutely love them too. But whenever someone asks me what’s my favourite band, U2 is definitely mentioned. They started my love for Rock music and allowed me to find peace in a time of darkness for me which only I can see.
I truly love their music. In fact, just recently I did a short music analysis practice where I chose Sunday Bloody Sunday as the work required for my music course. It is a graded practice to prepare me for my IB diploma next year where I’ll have to do the same thing. So I can say for sure, they are my favourite band and I truly like their music.

It goes without saying that most bands have faced tragedies, before or after their success. It’s a part of life that we ALL have to deal with. But I’ve been a fan of U2 since the release of the Joshua Tree album and I never would have thought back then that these guys will still be together as of now. They’re not as good as they once were but their lasting longevity as the same four man unit is very astonishing. ‏Wow, I have so much to say about them💖💖💖, I have no idea where to start!
‏I am a 16 year old girl and I loveeeeee U2💜💜, for 9 months now I hear their songs everyday all the time, every time I can!!
‏Before that I always knew they existed because my mom loves the 80’s music, but I never understood why they are so special!
‏I started with 5 songs in my playlist😂, by that time I only began to actually understand why their music is so extraordinary and important to everyone and myself! Now I have about 60 songs in my playlists and I know each one of them by heart 💖, I love Bono’s voice and I find so much meaning in each song ! 🫶🏻
‏During the last 10 months the situation in my country hasn’t been easy , for 10 months people are protesting, trying to defend human rights and the idea of democracy and liberty!
‏I tried to protest whenever I can because those ideas and my country are so important to me🫶🏻 but now we are going through a tough time, one of the hardest times, but we know that things will get better here.👍🏻
‏during this time U2 has always been one of the places I can escape to, and always makes me feel better🫶🏻🫶🏻.
‏The fact that I haven’t met any other teenagers who love or even know U2 makes me really sad😢, because I really believe that anyone can learn something from their songs and ideas!!!!!
I went to their second concert at the sphere🩵
I remember seating there at the beginning of the show and getting more nervous and more excited with every minute passing.💜
I tried to look around to see if there is any tiny door they might come out of,
I had no idea what I will actually feel when I see them. 🫶🏻
Suddenly the light got darker and darker, I realise that this is it!
The best band that ever existed, the ones who mean so much to me, the ones I’ve been listening to for 9 months everyday, literally everyday, those who because of i convinced my mom to travel for 27 hours straight, from the other side of the world, during my high school break, the ones who I watched on my phone so many times preform,
are about to get on that stage every minute now, I am about to see them with my own eyes, not in 5 months, not in a week, not in a day, but NOW! 💜
And then I saw 3 men, walking on the stage, I was shocked, I knew it’s them, but I kept asking myself “where is Bono?”, “What about him??”
Suddenly, I saw a man standing on the side, just standing there.
He started walking on the stage.
from the first second I saw him I knew it’s him, I couldn’t breathe! Just couldn’t believe the fact that this man, who I love his voice, his confidence, his perspective, his actions, literally everything about him!❤️
The one who I read his book, even did my book report for school on it, I can now see HIM with my own eyes, and not through a screen.🩵
I couldn’t take my eyes off them! 🫶🏻🫶🏻
I know that this night will always remain one of the most memorable moments of my life!💖💖
And now during this hard time I choose to hold onto this night, as one of the best moments of my life!
    Love U2 so so much❤️❤️❤️

I've been a fan of U2 since the early 80's. I heard "Pride" on our crappy local radio station and was immediately hooked. From that point I explored their earlier work..... Boy, October and War. I fell in love with "New Years Day" the first time I heard it. I saw them live in 1987 during Joshua Tree tour in Ft. Worth Texas. Tickets (great seats) were $14. I worked at a record store when the album came out. A friend and I would play "air guitar" to "Where the Streets Have No Name" each time we put the album on the record player. Anyhow, I've loved every album they've ever released. I've seen them 5 times in my life and they've always delivered. I wish I could afford to see them at the Sphere but it's just too expensive to get to Vegas, cover tickets and hotel. It's so nice to know that some younger people appreciate the musicianship, the message in their songs and their social awareness. Thank you for sharing your story. Keep on listening to these guys.

U2 fans are absolutely the worst. They are not happy with anything, they take the band for granted more than any fan of any artist I've seen, they don't acknowledge that time passes and people get old (they will never have a song that makes you feel 16 again, get over it), they bitch that they don't crap out an album every year, but then they also bitch when they do come out with an album and don't like it, they never have the band's back when they (especially Bono) get accused of a bunch of crap that isn't even accurate or true, while other artists have done horrible shit and get away with it (does Michael Jackson or Steven Tyler get the 'love him or hate him' bullshit in front of every mention like Bono does? Nope). I don't know if they have different standards placed on them because they are not American or British (the Irish inferiority complex makes them their worst critics) but it's really bizarre to me what it has come to. Also imagine being together in the original lineup for 47 years and then not be given an inch when you finally have to perform with a temp replacement? Meanwhile any other band can replace whomever they want.

It was a different era though. U2's manager shaped U2 to be international superstars. And you know, it's not a bad thing for Ireland because U2 did a lot for their country. The Irish talent, U2 has it too. Same goes with Enya, Christy Moore, Sinead O'Connor and The Pogues. Ireland is a nation of naturally gifted singers, whether famous a lot. And that's a huge talent right there.

The Undertones and Stiff Little Fingers are also great bands along with Foutaines DC.
But U2 are just on a different level.

Nothing really too different from other people’s lives. Sad maybe. But did not break my heart. Clickbate Bono is his own biggest fan .

U2's music broke my ears. The open tuning of the guitars has the effect of making almost every song sound the same. So monotonous.... Then again for years I hated Led Zeppelin, so what do I know!? 😋

They may not be your cup of tea but they don't suck. Although I don't care for their latest releases, seeing them live is a revelation.

And you use the name Clayton? Yeah... you may want to change that. Usually, personally, when a band "sucks", I don't watch the video.

They suck up to the WEF and a certain war mongering people in the middle east.
